I have been trying harder since the pandemic to wear everything I own to death before I get new.

My two - oldest bra is as old as my eldest child (19) I have a nightshirt that's not that much younger. The more tatty they get the more comfy they are. The shame!

I have a pair of shorts that I wore when I was 16. I am now in late 40s. They are still fine because I wear shorts so rarely.

notacooldad · 02/12/2022 16:06

My Led Zeppelin t shirt that my aunty bought me when I was 15. I'm 57 now and wear it regularly ( with my obligatory biker jacket, old Levi's and docs! ) on fact I'm wearing it to a gig tonight!

DazzlePaintedBattlePants · 02/12/2022 16:07

Wearing a pair of Oasis jeans that are getting in for 20 years.

DameHelena · 02/12/2022 16:08

A dressing gown and a lovely but rarely worn dress, both dating from about 2000/2001. The dressing gown is a Donna Karan men's one and I got it in a John Lewis sale when I was new to London and overawed by the size and thrill of Oxford St department stores. The dress is from a sample sale in Brick Lane and I think was from People Tree. It's rarely worn as it's an odd size and construction – it's quite loose once it's on, sort of empire-line, but I reliably get my shoulders stuck in it on the way into and out of it – but I'm so sentimental about it I can't bring myself to ditch it.

My gardening coat is 37 years old.

SilverSalver · 02/12/2022 16:14

I have a summer dress that I wore as a maternity dress in 1995.
I have a velvet jacket that cost me a month's pay in 1975, I don't wear it daily but it does come out a few times a year.

IncessantNameChanger · 02/12/2022 16:14

I also regularly wear a pair of jeans I bought when my son started year five, he is year 10 now. I have them onto today. So comfy. Nothing beats worn in footwear and jeans.

A grey Micky Mouse tee shirt , bought in Disneyland Paris ( or EuroDisney as it was then called ) in 1992, its opening year .
Stayed there with DH and DC’s for one of my ‘significant’ birthdays.
Tee shirt relegated to nightwear now, but would never part with it.

I have a pair of fleece pyjamas that I brought from Primark when I started uni at 18. The elastic is just starting to be a bit loose around the waist now - I'm now 35.

TheFlis12345 · 02/12/2022 16:19

I have a denim jacket that I bought when I was at school so that’s at least 25 years old. I also have a designer leather belt that cost me a small fortune when I was 18 but still looks good as new (it’s subtle branding not a gaudy huge logo thankfully).

soupmaker · 02/12/2022 16:23

I have a Diesel denim jacket that's 25 years old and a coat from Aquascutum which must be at least 20 years old. I have a pair of going out Dries Van Norton boots that must also be at least 20 years old. The rest of my wardrobe is filled with non-designer supermarket wear!

WeDontNeedToTalkAboutJamie · 02/12/2022 16:23

I've got primark socks I bought as a teen, so 20-25 years ago.

LimeCheesecake · 02/12/2022 16:23

I have a black leather jacket I got late 1999. (I can no longer wear a chunky jumper under it but it fits still!)

bitingcat · 02/12/2022 16:24

I'm currently wearing a red zipper hoddie that I bought in 1991!
I wear it a lot for slouching round the house.
I wouldn't wear it out but it's still perfectly wearable!

Smallorangecat · 02/12/2022 16:29

I have a jumper that I wore in sixth form. I am now 41.

Otterspotterspocket · 02/12/2022 16:38

An original Burberry trench coat that I bought in Oxfam in 1990. I think it's worth quite a lot now!

barskits · 02/12/2022 16:42

I have a jacket and a woolly jumper, both of which I bought in 1992, and I still wear them regularly. There are probably some scarves and gloves I've had longer than that kicking around somewhere as well.

Imicola · 02/12/2022 16:45

Excluding my vintage dresses which are from 50s to 70s, I think probably a jumper and pair of socks i got in 2001, so 21 years old.

HideTheCroissants · 02/12/2022 16:48

Not really clothing but I have a pair of brown leather boots that I bought when I was pregnant with DD. She is 24 now.

I have several items of clothing that are older than my 19 year old son.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 02/12/2022 16:53

I've got a Boden jumper from 2008 and a pair of Jigsaw high heels from 2007 that are still going strong and a hoody from 2005.

I moved abroad in 2014, so purged or gave away loads of my wardrobe then, but today I'm wearing a dress I've had since 2014 and it's still a favorite.

amylou8 · 02/12/2022 17:00

I've put on 3 dress sizes in the last 3 year, completely down to dropping oestrogen and nothing whatsoever to do with all the cheese I keep shoveling in my gob. The result is all of my clothes are pretty recent.

80sMum · 02/12/2022 17:01

I still have a swimsuit that I bought in 1988. I wouldn't call it an "everyday item" though, as I very rarely wear swimwear.

I think the oldest thing that I still currently wear is a parka jacket I bought in the summer of 1997.

WonderfulCounsellors · 02/12/2022 17:11

The shorts I wore on honeymoon from the boys section of C&A. I got married in 1999.

Luredbyapomegranate · 02/12/2022 17:12

Having had fairly regular bursts of weight change most of my wardrobe is pretty new, but I do have a laura Ashley stripey blue top and patterned red swirly shirt from 88/89 (Saturday job) and a leather belt with a lot of silver work from about 87 (exchange trip to France, I think).

BrandyandGinger · 02/12/2022 17:17

My heavy fleece dressing gown is 13 years old and I wear it almost every day because I feel the cold but it still looks brand new. I have a nice 21 year old coat too but I only wear it a few times a year.
