I have been trying harder since the pandemic to wear everything I own to death before I get new.

My two - oldest bra is as old as my eldest child (19) I have a nightshirt that's not that much younger. The more tatty they get the more comfy they are. The shame!

A Kurt Cobain t-shirt I bought just after he died. It's got a huge rip under the arm but I wear it as a night shirt because it's really soft and covers my bum

Thearex · 02/12/2022 17:23

I have a dressing gown that is at least 25yrs old.

It is a mans one, the arms a a bit long & the belt loops have been sewn back on numerous times- but I couldn't bare to part with it.

Wallis wool jumper from 2000

InTheFutilityRoomEatingBiscuits · 02/12/2022 17:25

My dressing gown was bought new in the early 1950s. I inherited it in approx 1997.

bluechameleon · 02/12/2022 17:25

I have a pyjama hoodie top that my mum bought me when I moved into a shared house at university in 2004. It's still perfectly fine, can't see myself getting rid of it any time soon.

Regularly worn...A pair of trainers I bought when my 17 year old grandson was born. I don't go to the gym but they are worn about once a week for walks at the coast and shopping. A dress from East which shows up on photo feeds from when my dgd was a toddler and she's 14 now so it's at least 12 years old. Worn about once a month when I have no clue what else to put on. Still a firm favourite. One of those crinkle type materials. Still looks new and everybody likes it. Gets thrown in the washing machine the hung to dry. No iron needed. Those two are in regular use. Also have sundresses, kimonos ext which come out for every summer holiday which are at least 10 years old. Can't count those as in regular use though as only come out on annual holiday and hot semmer days here. Do hut new occasionally 😁 but let me these ancient .. I mean retro ... clothes 😃

A hoodie I bought on a school tour in 1995. Cost 5 pounds

shiningstar2 · 02/12/2022 17:29

kitcat15 · 02/12/2022 17:39

Some miss sixty boot legs jeans and some denim shorts i bought in Australia and a billabong bucket sun hat...these are all over 20 years old and still look good

MassiveSalad22 · 02/12/2022 17:41

One of my ‘good dresses’ ie a reliable day dress I can rely on to make me feel a bit fancy - I should probably downgrade it as I realised it’s older than my oldest a child, so around 8 years old 😄 I must have older stuff too, I fucking hate shopping.

TheFormidableMrsC · 02/12/2022 17:47

I've got a Hard Rock NYC sweatshirt that's 34 years old. I can't believe it still fits. I wouldn't wear it outside the house though. I've also got a maternity nighty from 1998 that I can't bear to part with. It's wrecked but I wear it straight out of the shower to do hair and makeup before I get dressed. Good job I'm single Smile

Tisfortired · 02/12/2022 17:50

I have a denim shirt I bought with my first student loan installment from Urban Outfitters in 2010 that I still wear now but that pales in comparison to some of these examples!

piedbeauty · 02/12/2022 17:51

A pair of bobble socks my best friend gave me when I was 11. I'm 50 now 😱😍

Frostine · 02/12/2022 17:52

A Marks & Spencer 100% cotton summer dressing gown when their clothes still had St Michaels on them so it's probably at least 32 years old . It's also really good quality and still like new.

itssquidstella · 02/12/2022 17:56

I've got a men's blue pinstriped shirt that my mum bought from a charity shop in about 1993. It's from Burton's originally, I think.

SausageGuzzlingLabradors · 02/12/2022 17:59

An Armor-Lux Breton top bought at Honfleur market in 1992. The man on the market stall boasted it would last ten years….

splatfrog · 02/12/2022 18:05

I've just worked out my gardening jumper is 34yrs old! Xmas Grin

Alaldlccmemsjzja · 02/12/2022 18:07

I bought a plain black dress for a job interview in the Warehouse sale in about 2008
i still wear it now and get repeatedly complimented on it
that’s the oldest thing I own and apparently everyone loves it?

moght also have a leather jacket from around the same time!

Random789 · 02/12/2022 18:14

I've got a running top from the 1980s, when shops that specialised in running gear were a brand new thing, catering to the brand new mass interest in 'jogging'.
It has super-long sleeves that cover the hands and fold over at the fingertip.

PosiePerkinPootleFlump · 02/12/2022 18:18

Summer denim dress bought in 2003

I have an evening dress bought in 1998 but that's not so everyday

Amiable · 02/12/2022 18:25

I have a pair of warm fingerless gloves that I got when I was 13. I'm now 52 and still love them!

Flaunch · 02/12/2022 18:28

A leather jacket I bought in 1998. I’m wearing it tonight to my work Christmas party ❤️

LlynTegid · 02/12/2022 18:35

I think my 'Scandi' jumper is from the last century.

CanIbeRio · 02/12/2022 18:46

I have a black ribbed vest that I bought from Etam in around 1996....the elastane has gone a bit fazzy across the chest....but it's great under a top for extra warmth! I think back in the day I wore it in all its strappy glory to show off a much trimmer physique.....that's probably why the elastane has gone fazzy from being stretched to its limits!! 😆
