Is Mumsnet Premium worth it?

So it's been around for a while now.

Is it worth the money?

Presumably you don't have the promised edit/sorting features?

Are the discounts etc worth it?

I was wondering it anyone still paid for it just the other day.

00100001 · 30/11/2022 20:02

It's obviously a hot and popular topic on MN.

Grin
00100001 · 30/11/2022 20:52

Maybe it's being suppressed by MNHQ and Premium Members don't see any "is premium worth it" threads?? 😂

Grin somewhere in the depths of HQ an oh fuck klaxon has just sounded.

Impatientwino · 30/11/2022 21:09

Hmm I'm still subscribed but I haven't received any of the trialing/product tester offers for ages now and am considering cancelling it now.

It is nice not having the ads though..

RewildingAmbridge · 30/11/2022 21:10

Do you not get editing? Wasn't that the whole point?
Can you tell I didn't subscribe...

Well, I get no ads through as blocker on PC.

The mobile ones are fine.

Nope

Sparklingbrook · 30/11/2022 21:24

I never looked into getting it. I have adblocker on my laptop I don't know what advantages it would offer over that?
Did the Edit function never appear for Premium members?

00100001 · 30/11/2022 21:57

Of course they don't have an edit feature

Why 'of course' ? I thought that was going to be part of it.

CourtneeLuv · 30/11/2022 22:02

Did they actually give anything for the money? I know there was a separate section, but was anything promised actually rolled out?

This is what was said in April 2020 by Justine

Fnar fnar fnar.

2.5 years later... I don't think they have any if these.

So I'm wondering what you get .... Apart from the vague benefits mentioned in the Premium sign up bit.

Premium offersn -" Enjoy hand-picked exclusive offers and discounts - updated regularly" - wondering if these are decent enough to justify the cost

Exclusive featurese - "Be the first to access exclusive new Mumsnet Talk features". - what new features???

Product tests -"Premium users who apply to take part in product tests will have priority selection" - again, worth it?

Expert Zoom chatse - "get first access to our live expert zoom chats and watch on demand"
what experts have they had?

Premium Talk - a board for what...???

Because how many posts have you seen edited by Premium Members? Or how many comments have you seen saying "oh get MN premium and you can edit your posts" on the threads that complain about not being able to edit their posts...

But mostly the fact it's not advertised on the Premium sign up

I suppose that's kind of what I'm asking.

OK!

I have a lot of topics hidden and as I said, I never looked into getting it and TBF haven't heard anything about it at all lately anyway. Sorry!

I looked into it a while back out of mild curiosity and couldn't see a single benefit to having it. I can't think of any premium service where you get nothing for your money but it certainly seems like that's true of MN Premium.

CourtneeLuv · 30/11/2022 22:12

I wonder if you can find out how much they've earned from it through a freedom of information request.

They were probably hoping the hype and division caused loads of die hards to sign up and then forget about their subscription.

Premium seems to have been forgotten...

CourtneeLuv · 30/11/2022 22:14

There did seem to be a lot of posters signing up out of principle if they were real because others were calling it out.

00100001 · 30/11/2022 22:15

I just am amazed they spent time and money developing the "similar threads" algorithm and haven't sorted out the edit feature for Premium.

Surely it's just a group based permissions thing... And you give granular access. We already know they can give ordinary members 'mini admin' access to hide threads etc. Wonder why they can't do edit....
It might be because it's edit everything or edit nothing I suppose.... Maybe they can't work out how it can do "only edit my posts" 🤷

There doesn’t seem to be as many competitions on here these days. I’m supposed to be on the Insight panel but can’t remember the last time I heard anything about that!

Theancetocomein · 30/11/2022 22:19

I pay for it, no adverts and I get and have got lot of help, comfort and information from the site and have done for 20 years so happy to subscribe tbh

Just looked at link. Sort by op is the only thing but everyone can do that.

We can filter by person on a post and see how many times they've commented.

Not many offers tbh but the cider was great. Whenever I can cancel I come back as I'm on her far too much quite a bit.

Whinge · 01/12/2022 06:46

I agree.

It's certainly not the amazing service that Justine promised back when they launched, and i'm really surprised people still pay when none of the premium perks have actually been implemented.
