Another thread about heating...
My thermostat showing 13.5 and I'm freezing 🥶

What is your house temperature?

OP posts:
Passthecake30 · 26/11/2022 20:07

Dp has lit the log fire, 21.5 downstairs. The rest of us have left him to sit upstairs where it’s probably around 17, until it cools down a bit.

purpleme12 · 26/11/2022 20:08

Well I'm never cold at night. I can have the window open (bear in mind our house is 13 degrees now with window closed) and if needs be have 15 tog duvet and obviously winter pyjamas.

It's in the day that's the problem

Withnoshoes · 26/11/2022 20:09

Currently 17. The heating was in earlier to 19 then off. Will boost for an hour soon.
we are heating 3/4 hours a day currently which is fine.

SeasonaIVag · 26/11/2022 20:09

I’m fat and thrive at 16c

My other half not very enthusiastic about turning heating on yet, so currently have vest top, extra thermal long sleeved vest, hoodie, oodie and thermal leggings on and sat under a blanket, trying to keep my tongue between my teeth 😉

You’re actually risking your health and doing your house no good either. Show him
this article and put the heating on. BBC

TheFormidableMrsC · 26/11/2022 20:11

16 currently but was 18 during the day. I do feel a bit chilly so will put heating on for a bit and then it's oodies and electric throw.

berksandbeyond · 26/11/2022 20:12

That temperature is bad for your 1) body and 2) house

Put the heating on

Withnoshoes · 26/11/2022 20:13

If you can afford it. Please put the heating on and warm your house up a bit each day.

It doesn’t do your health or your house any good at 13. Our house drops to 13/14 overnight ( we don’t have heating on at night) on very very cold winter nights and it’s bloody chilly.

NewBootsAndRanty · 26/11/2022 20:14

18 and I'm still feeling chilly.

Crazymadchickenlady · 26/11/2022 20:14

Our lounge is about 23 at the moment as we have the log burner lit. Rest of the house is cooler. The heating is set to 18 degrees and upstairs 17 degrees. Off overnight.

MaryMollyPolly · 26/11/2022 20:17

We haven’t any heating on at all. It’s not been cold enough. We have a heated throw for sitting on the sofa, and I use it at my desk while working from home.

NanaBobo · 26/11/2022 20:21

Thermostat is set to 20. Currently sitting in DS's room with him and the Gro Egg is showing 19.2

XenoBitch · 26/11/2022 20:25

No heating. 16.7 at the moment. Feel fine as I have an Oody on.

sanityisamyth · 26/11/2022 20:26

No idea. Don't have a thermostat!

etulosba · 26/11/2022 20:26

What's a safe temp to sleep in? Anybody know?

In a bed or lying naked on the patio?

Foolsandtheirmoney · 26/11/2022 20:28

21.5°C I put the heat on for an hour earlier. Its only small so tends to warm up quickly.

MrsMariaReynolds · 26/11/2022 20:29

Heating on, set to 17.

Manasprey · 26/11/2022 20:31

19 in the living room. It's around 15 during the day, until the heating comes on. It is not a warm house.

Thermostat set at 18, which isn't really warm eng for me. I wear thermals every day and had 4 layers of clothes on, but my nose has been v cold.

What is your house temperature?

And DEFINITELY put the heat in at that temperature. You are doing nothing to help your house or your health sitting in a 12 degree home.

Manasprey · 26/11/2022 20:32

It's the kind of house where it's often warmer outside than in.

Goneback2school · 26/11/2022 20:34

We have three zones and the heating is not currently on in any of them. The room I am in right now is reading at 16c but is probably warmer as that thermostat is on an external wall. It's very comfortable and ds is happily in his soccer kit. It's probably 18/19c in the kitchen and 17c upstairs.

Marmite27 · 26/11/2022 20:34

16.1 at the top of the stairs, probably warmer in the living room as we’ve had the log burner lit today. We’ve let it go out because we’re too warm. We only lit it because DH was hiding the steam iron with the back door open earlier.

Homeatlast22 · 26/11/2022 20:37

19 here no heating on

MakingNBaking · 26/11/2022 20:37

21.8. I had the boost in for an hour about 5pm.
We have a Hive.
I have it set for 1.5hrs in the morning whilst people are washing and showering, then we go by Feel the rest of the time.
Updating our heating controls to the Hive has been the decision I made this autumn. My previous controls were such a palaver to change so often didn't bother, and if I did switch it to Manual I'd often forget to switch it back then remember the next day. This Hive do-dah is brill.

MakingNBaking · 26/11/2022 20:38

BEST decision. Obviously I've made more decisions, many of them the wrong decision.
