Another thread about heating...
My thermostat showing 13.5 and I'm freezing 🥶

What is your house temperature?

The Hive says it's 20.3 in our living room. Heating had clicked off as it is set at 20. Hive also says the lowest it has been was 16.8 yesterday morning before the heating came on. We have it on for a couple of hours in the morning & 4 hours in the evening. Itsset at 15 during the day but I don't think it's ever come on, any winter.

Dinnerdate1 · 26/11/2022 21:33

About 23/24 I like the house warm enough to be able to just have my pjs on I can't deal with all this layers stuff.

BeesAndBirds · 26/11/2022 21:36

We were coping ok at 15 degrees with oodies and heated throws etc. but we've recently started seeing mould in some rooms, despite us being careful about ventilation after showering and cooking. So we've accepted that we need the heating on more (I appreciate not everyone can do this). At the moment we are trialling central heating on for an hour in the morning and to heat the water up and then lighting the fire/woodburner in the evening if it's cold or damp.

As PP said mould will ruin your house and your health.

WaddleAway · 26/11/2022 21:43

20 degrees here. Heating on earlier but off now. Your partner isn’t keen on having the heating on… so what? You live there too. Is he the boss?

RoseMartha · 26/11/2022 21:46

Currently 18.5.

Atm set heating to be on for half hour in morning and an hour early evening. (This time last year had it set for 4 hours a day). Thermostat set at 18. The other night it didnt come on at all. Today came on both times.

Probablymagrat · 26/11/2022 21:52

Got ours set at 16, but we have the log burner alight in the living room. We can't really have it any lower because our house has people with chronic conditions. I'm really worried about the cost.

Multipleexclamationmarks · 26/11/2022 21:54

15.5 just now
I had the heating on earlier for a couple of hours, it got up to about 18 which we find really quite warm but then I've always been frugal with the heating.

loislovesstewie · 26/11/2022 21:54

Why are people proud that they don't put the heating on?
Why are your houses so bloody cold?
I know heating is expensive but really living in a fridge is doing no one any good. I thought it was chilly here yesterday with the wind coming in off the sea so the heating went on. I dress sensibly but that doesn't mean that the house is warm.

IsThePopeCatholic · 26/11/2022 21:58

18 degrees. Have an electric throw wrapped around me, 3 layers on my top. I’m warm enough, but it will be freezing without my throw.

WonderingWanda · 26/11/2022 21:58

25 in my lounge because we had the wood burner on for a bit after getting wet. Was 18 before that with no heating.

I'm not proud my flat is 11.1 degrees and I don't put the heating on, it's just a fact.
Because, due to the fact I'm in an end, top floor flat I have 3 exposed sides and a roof.
If people can't afford to pay the heating bill then it is irrelevant if it's doing anyone good or not.
I wear thermals, a big jumper, I have a little back warming electric pad and cover up with a fleecy blanket.
What's not to understand?

c3pu · 26/11/2022 22:14

18, I'm in the south and fortunately not got the heating on yet, although it's getting close...

GG1986 · 26/11/2022 22:22

Heating is off and it's 14.5 inside my house.

AuntieMarys · 26/11/2022 22:26

16 degrees ...heating off at 7pm.

Athenen0ctua · 26/11/2022 22:30

It would have been 16 downstairs at 19:30 when you posted as that's when my heating clicks off. I don't know what it is now but I'm in bed with a hot water bottle so I don't care.

user374698 · 26/11/2022 22:32

20, heating been on most of the day, just gone off now for the night

It's annoying when the comments about people being 'proud' or 'competitive' keep popping up in every thread on heating. Not everyone has money to burn on 20 degree heating all day.

I'm not proud of it but I'm lucky to not need it. Mines not been on yet this year and it's yet to fall below 17C in my flat. I can live quite happily at 17C even wfh, which was a surprise to me. Think I've been too quick in the past to put the heating on

purpleme12 · 26/11/2022 22:37

Mine has always been this cold. It's no colder this year than any other year which is why I've said that there's no corners I can cut with the heating cos I have it as low as possible already really.
But no it's not competitive cos I don't enjoy it and I wish I didn't have be bothered about it

shiningstar2 · 26/11/2022 22:39

23 but I am 70 and really feel the cold. There is nearly always either DH or me in the house so the heating is on early morning until late at night. The readings on the smart meter are frightening 😱😭

notwhatithoughtitwouldbebutwhatis · 26/11/2022 22:42

Our bill this month was nearly £500. It is not a point of pride. It is a reality.

Nanalisa60 · 26/11/2022 22:42

My house hit a low of 11 this morning at 7am, I put the heating on at 8.30am for 8 hours at 16 , husband turned it up to 18 at 5pm . Heating off at 7.30pm. I really am not very good if it goes below 16. We are definitely going to bed much earlier then we use to but I don’t mind I like watching TV in bed. Really worried about the money but can’t really copy with being cold finding 16 ok as long as you have cosy cloths on, and throws on the sofa.

iknowwheretheothersockgoes · 26/11/2022 22:45

21°. I have the heating set so the house is always that temp

IncessantNameChanger · 26/11/2022 22:48

12 yesterday. 14 after two hours of the heating on. My heating appears to be buggered. No money saved unfortunately as the boilers been firing up for the past two hours. It's just not doing much in the way of warmth. Bugger.

12 was sub artic. If we can't fix it I'm going to buy a heated throw. It's too cold at 13. 14 I can just about suck up but below that? No thanks. The kids are in tshirts and shorts 😨 the teen has a dressing gown over his Oodie and thinks the cold is making him ill.

We don't have the cash to keep it toasty but ideally I'd have it hotter than 15. When it got frosty my plan was set it to 21 then. But it's all gone too pot now. Time for the heating enginner if we can afford it!
