How long do you kept birthday cards on display?

Totally trivial I know! Not sure how it cropped up in conversation last night with a group of friends, but somehow we ended up talking about how long we keep birthday cards on display.
One person said they look at them and put them straight in recycling; one puts them up but takes them down the day after their birthday. The rest between 'a few days' and a week.
As said, appreciate it's really not important but am weirdly intrigued!

I keep cards up for one week.

KangarooKenny · 26/11/2022 07:52

They get taken down the Monday after the birthday when I’m cleaning up.

DreamingofItaly2023 · 26/11/2022 07:53

My birthday is November so they stay up until the Christmas and wedding anniversary cards start to arrive. Those come down by twelfth night.

DS’ and DH’s cards stay up 1-2 weeks.

2-4 weeks

vincettenoir · 26/11/2022 07:54

I milk it. 2 weeks.

RightsHoarder · 26/11/2022 07:54

1 week and the balloons stay until they deflate. We had one last for 10 weeks once!

JaninaDuszejko · 26/11/2022 07:55

Weeks. If it was up to DH we'd never throw them out 😂

AmberGer · 26/11/2022 07:55

When we were kids my parents only put them up for one day.
I keep them up for around a week (ish) don't really keep count.

girlmom21 · 26/11/2022 07:55

However long it takes me to get sick of them. Generally about a week. The kids stay up slightly longer.

Filleto · 26/11/2022 08:04

A week, sometimes ten days if we have some late arrivals

caringcarer · 26/11/2022 08:10

We have a cluster of birthdays from mid July to beginning of September. Roughly a birthday every 2 weeks so birthday persons cards stay up until next person get a birthday. Everyone else gets 2 weeks but I only get 5 days.

PearlclutchersInc · 26/11/2022 08:13

Mine sit there for ages as I don't "see" them. Then again I only get a couple so there's not millions.

EspeciallyD · 26/11/2022 08:22

We've got a cluster of birthdays at 2-3 week intervals so those ones tend to stay up till the next person's but otherwise a week or so. Occasional cards that arrive during the year for eg exam success might stay up longer.

JellyfishandShells · 26/11/2022 08:23

A week.

Boooooot · 26/11/2022 08:24

My birthday was on Tuesday and they’re in the bin already. I am feeling exceptionally gloomy this year though.

Chomolungma · 26/11/2022 08:25

No set time but up to a month.

KingJulien · 26/11/2022 08:26

If they’re are from my children they go in a box that I keep, from other people they generally go in the pile with random paperwork until I go through it and throw them out .

Ihaveawonderfulpartner · 26/11/2022 08:28

The kids stay up a week because they want them to but mine and husbands go straight in the bin after we've looked at them. Same with Christmas cards. I just think they make the place look tatty and they fall over all the time.

Greydogs123 · 26/11/2022 08:30

A week.

cptartapp · 26/11/2022 08:31

One week.

Treecreature · 26/11/2022 08:33

I read and throw.

InMySpareTime · 26/11/2022 08:33

Until the next birthday/card occasion.
Even if that's months away.
There are always cards on the card string.
The current ones are DH's from October but mine will replace them and stay until Easter.

Fingernails4Cash · 26/11/2022 08:33

A month
With 4 people in the family plus December it means we have something celebratory to enjoy for about half the year

Divebar2021 · 26/11/2022 08:34

At least a week I’d say…. I really appreciate them.

FiveMins · 26/11/2022 08:37

I find cards pointless unless made by my children. I keep those forever and chuck the other ones pretty much straight away.
