I was never a huge fan of Steve Wright and he certainly had a lot of detractors.

However, careful what you wish for

Scott Mills is sooo dull

I can't believe that he was the best replacement for Steve wright.

OJ Borg was a fantastic stand in but now this is mind numbingly boring. Thank god it's only 2 hours

Any suggestions for a good show in the afternoon?

God I hated Steve Wright and his fucking "serious jockin'" I had to turn the radio over immediately. Scott Mills is like one of those annoying middle management men who are already a bit to high up the ladder and know it, and wash their car every Sunday after a few beers with the lads on a Saturday.

Scott Mills was great on Radio 1, its like they've given him a personality transplant now.

I now listen to virgin.
0630-1000 Chris Evans
then Eddie Temple Morris - good background music
then Jayne Middlemiss / then sometimes Vanessa on Talk. I Loved Vanessa on R2. It’s just droning men all day long now.

I quite liked Scott and Chris on their Radio 1 afternoon slot - am really missing them! It was daft and often made me laugh.

Because I threatened to shoot everyone in the BBC if they gave the job to him. NO RYLAN.

I miss Steve…. He was like a warm cosy blanket, I miss his upbeat style. I listen to the glorious Ken Bruce and switch off the rest of the day.

I thought it was just me. Scott Mills seems to have been fanfared as some great new blood on R2, but he’s as dull as ditchwater.

Can't listen to someone who was accused of rape though. The voice grates

Scott was great on radio 1. It's a pity Chris didn't join him. I much prefer two DJ's tbh, keeps them perky when one is shattered.

Dean & Vicky are bedding in nicely on radio 1.

No, not keen in Scott Mills at all. I think he's a bit rude and he was so obviously hating the Children in Need challenge ( early on anyway I switched off in the afternoon). Much prefer Oooh Gary Davies

I really like OJ too, I don't know why he isn't on more. Gary Davies has really grown on me too. Missing SW.

We have started to have R4 on more in the afternoon, then switch back over for Sara Cox.

Rylan & Liza on Saturdays are brilliant.

I feel the same. I'm sure Scott is a nice bloke, but Radio 2 tried and failed to make him remotely interesting by turning him into Scott 'Tread' Mills. Still dull!

Same for me! Can’t get round that I won’t be tuning in in the afternoons anymore, not that I was a regular listener.

I’m glad it’s not just me. I never liked Scott Mills on Radio 1 - so smug and full of himself. When I heard he was taking over the afternoon slot on Radio 2 I thought it was a huge mistake. I’ve not listened to it nor will I.

He has zero personality. Dull is the word. I just can’t abide him.

It’s like the 10am slot on a Saturday morning. Graham Norton was brilliant. I loved that show. Now I do like Claudia on the whole but it just doesn’t work for me. Far too much waffling on and talking shit. It just irritates me. I don’t listen to that show anymore either.

I’m still not over Radcliffe and Maconie’s afternoon show being ditched by 6Music. That was the perfect afternoon listen. Such a poor decision.

He's such a name dropper, I find that really annoying. I miss Steve.

Im so glad others feel the same way. I loved SM and Chris Stark on R1 and thought SM would be great on R2 (couldn't stand Steve Wright), but he's so meh. He sounds bored by his own features/callers. I'm so disappointed.

Agree Scott is extremely mediocre. I just can't listen to Gary Davies either. His voice seems so affected and false somehow. I love Rylan, Vernon is great too.

Steve Wright drives me to drink - didn't like his afternoon show at all and I find Sunday Love Songs excruciating. Having said that, Scott Mills is tedious. Radio 2 definitely need to find a middle ground for the afternoon show. Love Ken Bruce though.

When DH and I were both working at home we used to have Radio 2 on in the morning until Jeremy Vine at 12, then either put the playlist on from my phone or get Alexa to play a selection. Followed by Absolute Classic Rock or Absolute Country in the afternoon.

if I was at home on my own I'd often have Classic FM or Scala Music all day. I found classical music/opera quite relaxing when I was working but DH liked something 'with a bit more about it' as he described it.

I thought it was just me! Scott Mills is so dull and I don’t think I would ever be able to pick his voice out in a crowd. Steve Wright was irritating but in hindsight was actually a brilliant show host.

Gradually, over the years, the whole of Radio 2 has been ruined for me. With the notable exception of Ken Bruce, I find myself listening to Radio 4 all day.

I'm going to migrate to radio Scotland once Sir Ken Bruce is finished.

Thank goodness other people think this too - I couldn’t believe he was the best person for replacing SW. He is so incredibly boring. Just heard this morning that Ricky Wilson is doing the Virgin Drivetime in the new year, so looking forward to that. Will just enjoy silence between Ken finishing and Ricky starting. I also love Simon Mayo, but it’s very heavy on the ads.

It'll probably show my age, but the best Radio 2 line up was Terry Wogan, Ken Bruce, Jimmy Young, Ed Stuart and John Dunn!! I know, no female presenters, but this was proper radio!!
