Currently in the middle of a major depressive episode, am alone as the girls are at their Dad’s for the night, and have done everything in my “self care toolkit” and still feel incredibly low. I need to put the tv on until I can take my bedtime meds and go to bed.

I need to stream something that will get me to bedtime. Can anyone help?

Thank you xxx

Detectorists. Lovely, gentle and funny. Or else Parks & Rec.

yorkshireteaparty · 16/11/2022 18:40

Schitts creek and motherland

DisplayPurposesOnly · 16/11/2022 18:41

We Are Lady Parts

CalculatingSuccess · 16/11/2022 18:41

I love Schitts Creek and Motherland, thank you. I have never seen Detectorists, I think I’ll put that on xx

Im loving ghosts at the moment, on iplayer. You’ll need to persevere for a couple of episodes but once you know them it’s lovely.

Anyolshit · 16/11/2022 18:43

I feel exactly the same today. Whatever you do don’t watch the news - really upset me today and I think I need to limit it for a bit. I’m thinking of watching utter lighthearted crap - Mike and Molly and the Simpsons and maybe modern family again… I look for mindless, comfort tv at times like these. I hope it helps to know that you are absolutely not alone. I’m in a pit of despair but it will not last.

Daleksatemyshed · 16/11/2022 18:45

Try the Repair Shop Op,. During lockdown it was like comfort food for the eyes.

FluffyPJs · 16/11/2022 18:45

Derry Girls on Netflix is my current comfort programme - hilarious, lovely and full of great songs from my teenage years!

Anyolshit · 16/11/2022 18:45

Mortimer and Whitehouse Gone Fishing is beautiful and gentle. Like The Detectotists in a way.

Evivie · 16/11/2022 18:46

Ted Lasso!

ApplesinmyPocket · 16/11/2022 18:47

The Good Place is funny and sweet and uplifting.

Butteredtoast55 · 16/11/2022 18:49

If you have Apple play, Ted Lasso. Don't be put off that it's football, there's something so heartwarming about it.
Otherwise Channel 5 All Creatures Great and Small or something fun. Victoria Wood's dinnerladies never fails to make me laugh out loud.

Butteredtoast55 · 16/11/2022 18:49

And Modern Love on Netflix!

cheeseybeans19 · 16/11/2022 18:51

Another vote for Derry Girls. So funny and for me also very comforting as it reminds me of my youth. Hope you feel better soon @CalculatingSuccess x

CalculatingSuccess · 16/11/2022 18:53

You are all wonderful, thank you. I’ve made myself some really nice soup and am going to curl up on the sofa with a bowl of it and just binge. Thank you all so, so much.

@Anyolshit , I’m sorry that we are in the same boat. I always know it will pass eventually, but it sometimes it makes being there harder somehow, as I want to scream “why am I here now??”. I wish I could take it away for you, staying away from the news for now is a very good call (that may be what has set me off too). Sending lashings of dopamine xx

I like Brooklyn 99 for non brain power fun

WhatTheHellIsAQuasar · 16/11/2022 18:57

ted lasso is absolutely brilliant -it’ll get you in the feels at every turn and it’s super heartwarming and funny.

I hope things improve for you OP I’ve definitely been there

Fleur405 · 16/11/2022 18:57

Another vote for Ted Lasso - especially if you can get a free trial for Apple TV.

Also this isn’t usually my thing but Queer Eye on Netflix got me through a tough time. A friend recommended it and I thought it would be that sort of let’s mock some people for light entertainment purposes but it’s basically lovely and positive and uplifting.

Fleur405 · 16/11/2022 18:59

Oh also if you liked Motherland you might like Catastrophe on ALL 4 - it’s hilarious!

DuchessDandelion · 16/11/2022 19:00

Horrible histories is my lighthearted go to when I feel really badly. And mamma Mia:)

Hope you're feeling a bit better soon opx

onthisoccasion · 16/11/2022 19:01

Detectorists and Ghosts are two of my absolute favourite things to watch for humour and comfort.

DH and I really enjoying Handmade on 4, basically Bake Off but carpentry. It's very gentle and surprisingly engaging.

For a while my favourite absolute light-weight nonsense TV was Shakespeare and Hathaway, very silly and cheesy but I enjoyed it.

SweetChild0mine · 16/11/2022 19:05

Off topic a bit.. but have you had a long really hot shower? Always helps me

Wirralwifey · 16/11/2022 19:11

@DuchessDandelion Have you tried ghosts?
It’s from the horrible history folk but for grown ups. It’s ace.

Dartmoorcheffy · 16/11/2022 19:12

Emily in paris is good easy entertainment
