In a cafe, and a woman has just complained (funny)

She'd ordered a bacon sandwich and it's just been delivered to the table. She's now moaning because her bacon sandwich has a tiny crumb of black pudding on it. And she doesn't eat pork.

I feel for the poor staff having to explain which animal bacon comes from 😬

(And no, there's no vegan bacon on the menu so not a mix up!)

What's vegan bacon? I mean bacon is bacon. Isn't that just a slice of tofu or something else

Sadness.

Vegan bacon is sadness.

Emotionalsupportviper · 16/11/2022 13:26

This is true @WiddlinDiddlin .

It tastes of tears and despair.

Flapjackquack · 16/11/2022 12:32

@NearlChristmas - if you’d read the thread Nearl you’d know that bacon could be anything and everything and we must never assume it will just be pork 😁

Bacon comes from very bowels of Gaia

miffmufferedmoof · 16/11/2022 14:08

@ExhaustedFlamingo have you tried Naked bacon? No nitrites in it. Or search preservative free bacon

Blueeyedgirl21 · 16/11/2022 11:31

@ErrolTheDragon they might be difficult to herd but it’s because they’re spirited

as a glomad I’ve honed my cat herding skills from living in various places over the years. Shame you’re totally ignorant to these things.

I'm pretty sure that when it comes to milking cats, ignorance is bliss.

ErrolTheDragon · 16/11/2022 11:08

Unfortunately cat milk is prohibitively expensive - we all know they're notoriously difficult to herd, and the cost of the protective equipment required by cat milkers really makes it unviable.

When shelf filling in Asda, I was once asked by a teenager if we sold pigeon milk. I don't know if he was after milk for pigeons, or just having me on.

Pigeon milk is just another term for crop milk.

As the above poster has pointed out 'crop milk' has a Wikipedia entry - you could have Googled it, or simply asked 'what is crop milk' rather than posting an eye roll.

Or are you disappointed that 'person goes into a supermarket which sells a range of animal-care products, including products for both wild and domestic birds, and asks for a bird care product they don't happen to stock' isn't a very rich mine for comedy?

girlmom21 · 16/11/2022 16:53

That's not an eye roll

It looks like an eye-roll on my screen; if that wasn't the poster's intention, I'm sorry.

AutumnCrow · 16/11/2022 09:08

Why are you excluding sheep milk and camel milk. And reindeer. I think that's extremely culturally insensitive and you should go and hang your head somewhere. And water buffalo, that's another one. [That's enough milks - ed.]

Camel milk is rank😂

Well...thats an extremely niche milk and not something I would expect to see in Asda EVER, even though it sells a range of animal-care products, including products for both wild and domestic birds

Although i have seen it in the Nintendo game Animal Crossing.

sueelleker · 16/11/2022 17:51

As I was working in the yogurt aisle, I think he was having me on. Otherwise he'd have been down the pet food aisle I should think?

kw1091 · 16/11/2022 17:54

I worked in a pub and there was a woman that was notorious for coming in ordering food, complaining and then getting it for free.
she once ordered a fish and chips with out the batter and so was presented with a piece of cod, pan fried no batter, chips and peas. When we served her she asked where the batter was and we reminded her she had ordered it without. She then proceeded to tell us she had wanted the batter on the side…

wellstopdoingitthen · 16/11/2022 17:55

I've seen the same debate over pepperoni pizza 🍕

You’re very defensive about bacon….. do you understand what it is?!

Maybe it was her with the bacon sandwich.

AdoraBell · 16/11/2022 18:17

That could have been my DH. SIL is vegetarian and he bought a quiche for her when we had a BBQ. Quiche Lorraine. When I told him she wouldn’t eat it, and MIL also said it’s no good, SIL doesn’t eat any meat, he said “it’s not meat it’s bacon”

🤦‍♀️

2catsandhappy · 16/11/2022 18:25

I am reminded of a tv show some years ago. Cooking show. The waiter, deadpan, straight faced said, "And the vegetarian option tonight is salmon." I recall thinking, "Um no, if it has eyes and an a**hole it is not vegetarian."

Strewth this thread still going?

Quite like my new name. Might keep it a while.

Morgysmum · 16/11/2022 18:33

Ha ha, that's so funny. What animal did she think bacon came from? The bacon animal? 🤣🤣🥓 Is there a sausage animal too I wonder. My son worked out bacon is from pigs when he was about 5. I think I horrified a woman in Morrisons, when I pointed to the pork joint and beef joint and asked my son, if he fancied cow or pig?! It's a good job I didn't do the sound effects. (her eyes were popping out of head. 🤣

ThistleTits · 16/11/2022 18:35

@Flapjackquack
Was it wafer thin ham though?
