In a cafe, and a woman has just complained (funny)

She'd ordered a bacon sandwich and it's just been delivered to the table. She's now moaning because her bacon sandwich has a tiny crumb of black pudding on it. And she doesn't eat pork.

I feel for the poor staff having to explain which animal bacon comes from 😬

(And no, there's no vegan bacon on the menu so not a mix up!)

Black pudding!!

Gumreduction · 15/11/2022 15:40

Love that op pit for lunch with her DH and spends the entire time glued to her phone on a mumsnet thread! 😂

Is black pudding in the scriptures?

I believe so, “Manna from heaven” , what else could it be?

ClawedButler · 15/11/2022 15:43

HAS ANYONE THOUGHT HOW THE BACON FELT ABOUT ALL THIS?

I mean, public rejection and humiliation, being linked to Jeremy Corbin, being be-speckled with burnt bun disguised as black pudding, being REPLACED by a SCONE. Once bitten, twice sty?

GloomyDarkness · 15/11/2022 15:43

I never touch black pudding as a child because I was told what it was.

Then went to Ireland on college field trip and went into very small cafe for breakfast that had black and white pudding which I'd never come across before - not wanting to be rude ate everything - it was great. I've tried it since - never been as good and often dislike it though all three of my children will eat it.

I've tried haggis and it wasn't great but I was told I might like it if I tried again as recipes vary wildly - but I didn't think same was true of black pudding but google tells me it does - and I may have had some mix of cow’s blood and tansy or some other unusual combination.

I don't think OP was out for lunch with her husband? OP was waiting for the car as it was in for an MOT, the husband mentioned s is the bacon woman's husband.

So I'm cool with EVERYTHING except the use of the name Karen to describe a seemingly annoying woman.
Just a new thing to kick off about in a deliciously bonkers thread...

It ain't that deep mate.
My first encounter with woke MNs it seems.

Karen is not a slur. And is not offensive.

mam0918 · 15/11/2022 15:54

InMySpareTime · 15/11/2022 15:36

@mam0918 why did you have a hog roast you can't eat at your wedding?

Because everyone else could and it was the affordible option.

Like all wedding venues they do alternatives for dietry requirements but I assume 67 outspoken avid red meat eaters didn't want a veggie burger just because me and 2 guests don't eat pork (all of us perfectly happy with the veggie burgers and chips instead).

MixedCouple · 15/11/2022 15:56

MichelleScarn · 15/11/2022 15:31

You nip away for school pick up and return to actual what in the fuck madness is that?!!

Exactly this 😶

FabulousFryingpan · 15/11/2022 15:57

Why would it have been pork black pudding anyway. Where I come from it is typically beef.

MixedCouple · 15/11/2022 15:57

Someone said pig-gate and I lost it 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Ofcourseshecan · 15/11/2022 15:57

Flapjackquack · 15/11/2022 12:42

A little bit yeah. I would have thought if it was that important she’d have checked.

Surely anyone who doesn't eat pork for cultural/religious reasons would also not eat bacon? Because the proscription would be against eating pigs. There wouldn't be "non-pork" products in her world, but non-pig products.

I defy anyone to find a shop selling kosher/halal bacon. I mean proper bacon, from a pig.

It’s not a slur? Have you ever seen it used positively?

Do you know what “slur” means?

brighterthanthemoon · 15/11/2022 15:35

Is black pudding in the scriptures?

I believe the factory involved in making black pudding released some of their unmade product into the river Nile and Moses claimed credit:
"He raised his staff in the presence of Pharaoh and his officials and struck the water of the Nile, and all the water was changed into blood"
Or not....

FabulousFryingpan · 15/11/2022 15:57

Where’s that? I never knew that it was ever anything but pig.

Changechangychange · 15/11/2022 15:59

AnApparitionQuipped · 15/11/2022 12:40

For goodness sake! She doesn't eat pork - probably for cultural/religious reasons - in her world 'bacon' is a non pork product - so that makes her 'stupid'?

Um, yep? If you don’t eat pork you know damn well what foods may or may not contain it. Signed, a vegetarian.

Nobody is under the impression that all bacon is vegan because vegan bacon exists. Nobody.

MixedCouple · 15/11/2022 15:59

PaidthepiperTuneismine · 15/11/2022 14:10

There are people who don't eat pig's blood (black pudding) but who do eat pig products.

Exactly.
There are people who eat meat but don't do organs I am one of them.
Steak yummy - leg yummy - etc.

Kidneys - 😱 liver - 😱 intestines - 😱

Harrysnippleno3 · 15/11/2022 16:00

Exactly.

Not exactly at all.

She does not eat pork. Bacon is pork.

Are you in the Black Country?

lightisnotwhite · 15/11/2022 16:02

As an aside my husband ordered a chicken biryani curry and said to make sure it comes with rice. I might have had done a bit of an eye roll but I did explain nicely that a biryani is in fact a rice dish and comes with a vegetable curry.
He still insisted he had one without rice so I gave up and went back to mocking him.

Ofcourseshecan · 15/11/2022 16:02

UndisclosedBlackPudding · 15/11/2022 15:31

Dear god what's funny about it was that it was being applied to chickens, who, last time I looked, have faces.

This thread man.

Now you've done it, Pasc611. You've traumatised everyone who thought they were chickens were made from chick peas.

“Woke” is not a synonym for “things I don’t agree with”…

Do you know what “slur” means?

It is a joke! Not a slur!

When someone has no sense of humour we call them dry. When someone is a killjoy we call them a nuance.
So now we can't joke or say anything because the woke MNs are offended.

Seriously. Oh my, how do you live a day without breaking down in tears?
