Tell me your favourite candle brands that don't cost a bomb!

I love flamingo candles, bath and body works and scavenging in tkmaxx for nice ones...

Not interested in diptyque type brands, no desire to spend £100 on a candle - but equally I don't want something cheap and tacky that barely smells of anything

Seeing as I'm trying to be a bit more hygge and stop hating winter so much, I figured I'd treat myself to a few new ones as I've started to permanently have one burning at my desk while WFH which is quite enjoyable

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I agree with others saying the Aldi ones don’t cast properly. They’re cheap and fine for a faint background scent if you have them in a very small space but the more expensive candles have properly sized wicks and a high level of essential oils and so they can fill your whole house with scent.

I bought some from the wonky candle company. I think that's right, wonky definitely featured ! They were for gifts and everyone said they were lovely. I'll buy again on payday.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Melt!!

Gorgeous candles, really lovely natural scents. No fancy packaging and they don't all look pretty but they smell fabulous. My favourite scent is forest, it's so beautiful and fills the room even without the candle lit.

Also like st eval and valente as PPs have mentioned. St eval are particularly good value I think, they smell much more expensive than they are.

It's worth a scout round tkmaxx if you are shopping in person. Bit hit and miss as with everything else in there, but I often manage to find a nice Neom one marked down.

Have to agree on the Asda wax melts, cheap and smell amazing especially cuddle up.

Agree - they smell like heaven and one melt has lasted me 3 evenings so far.
Village candles are far better in my opinion than yankee as they are double wicked, burn evenly and are smokeless. No waste either
