Bank Holiday may 8th

It has been reported that May 8th will be a bank holiday now. It's my birthday so I am quite pleased about it.

Feel for those it will adversely affect though.

I'll be working no doubt

Two 4 day weeks in a row will be nice.

I haven't seen this - only 1st May mentioned everywhere I looked. Is this extra and who is it for?

Found it - front page of tomorrow's Sunday express.

My local MP and I think in the Express.

It's not on the gov.uk website as a bank holiday.

Will that just be next year or forever?

I guess the coronation - however the Express lies about everything, so not sure it's a trustworthy source!

I assume they'd move the May 1st one, not have two.

I suspect they’ll move the 1 May one, not add an extra just a week later.

8 May would be great in our family, DS’ birthday!

It's KS2 SATS week which I imagine will be a bit of a headache for schools. Probably impacts other public exams too?

I wondered about the exam impact too.
Im lucky that I’m employed so it’s an extra days holiday for me. Nightmare for small businesses, self employed etc.

I've been keeping my fingers crossed for the extra one because I booked a weekend away for then as I don't work BH.

Confirmed on the beeb. Damn I was banking on it being Friday 5th!

Guess instead of doing them Monday - Thursday they’ll move to Tuesday - Friday instead but it’s not ideal. Especially 2 4 day weeks in a row in the shortest half term of the year.

May's not a very productive month, is it?

Monday is my quietest day at work so it's my admin day where I can get my head down, deliberately don't book any meetings or training on Mondays if I can avoid it - I guess I won't be getting as much done in May!

All the extra BH moaners, feel free to go into work anyway.

My DD will be disappointed. Mondays are her practical days at college. To miss one for the funeral and one for the coronation is addition to May day is a bit of a shame.

(Plus I feel sorry for any parents whose nurseries charge closure days to whoever usually uses them that day rather than having them accounted for in the general pricing.)

Why do we have to always be productive? The weather should be nice, and 4 day weeks will be happening three times for most.
