I spent most of the 90s…

With blobs of nail varnish on my tights, as legend had it it would stop ladders running.

Blue, red, purple, it didn’t matter. Mostly applied while on my legs so the said tights would get a bit stuck to my skin.

Did anyone else live by any 90s life hacks, probably learnt from Sugar magazine?

Yep. I did this too but can’t remember where I had learnt it from so have never divulged this information as thought I was a weirdo! It’s good to know that it wasn’t just me!

OldTinHat · 29/10/2022 23:41

I spent the late 80s doing the same thing!

Mammyloveswine · 29/10/2022 23:43

Eeeh I can remember doing this!

I then discovered hold ups and I can remember at 15 my dad being horrified that I was wearing "stockings" 🙈🙈🙈

Good old Sugar

Fairylightsongs · 29/10/2022 23:50

I used clear nail varnish and it was a quick fix , but yes it would stick to my legs…

Hangupsrus · 29/10/2022 23:50

Was living the best years of my teenage life mid 90s yet I never read sugar! Then again I had an older sister so I used to read More, which had position of the fortnight as opposed to stocking fixing tips, much more interesting. Arr, if only I could go back to them times.

Throwaway1066 · 29/10/2022 23:54

hello friends!

I saw a snag in my tights today and had the sudden urge to grab my nail varnish. It all came flooding back to me.

I also used baby powder as make shift dry shampoo. Teens these days don’t know they’re born!

The '90's were my golden years. Shook off my 'starter' BF acquired in college before I knew what I wanted

Bought myself a house, with my own front door where what I said, goes.

Lots of travelling for work as a Management Consultant, when the FT called us the 'masters of the universe' and I acquired a taste for turning left as I got on a plane.

Just brilliant.

Chicca1970 · 29/10/2022 23:58

Raving 🤩🙌🌸

VimFuego101 · 30/10/2022 13:53

I've spent the last few weeks unlocking core 90s memories browsing https://instagram.com/kneedeeppinthee90s?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

So many things I'd forgotten about.

JustDanceAddict · 30/10/2022 14:45

i did that too with varnish!
Wearing white musk & drinking 20/20, then alcopops.

Autumnisclose · 30/10/2022 14:56

Left school, left home, went to uni. Had a series of dodgey boyfriends and met DH. Spent alot of time raving. The 2000s were all about getting married and having kids. Much more boring.

Throwaway1066 · 30/10/2022 15:17

I was born in 1981 so got the bonus of being an 80s kid and 90s teenager.

The 00’s were for leaving home, getting jobs and my first proper relationships. Lots of clubbing and spending money unwisely. Finally settled in 2009 and haven’t really done anything mad since. Very happy though Smile

Drinking too much concorde / 2020.!! Oh and wearing rimmel heather shimmer and exclamation ❗ perfume. Best days ever

JessesMum777888 · 30/10/2022 15:51

Pissed on 20/20 and trying to get in night clubs I was way too young for!

HailOWeen · 30/10/2022 15:53

Toothpaste on spots, anyone?

SpookabooAtTheZoo · 30/10/2022 15:55

Yes! I only had red "frosted" constance carroll nail varnish so I looked like I'd fallen over then put glitter in the cut.
I spent most of the 90s in glitter jelly shoes reading The Babysitter's Club books, Point Horror and Nancy Drew.

mommatoone · 30/10/2022 15:55

@HailOWeen - i still do this! My daughter thinks im weird ha ha

SpookabooAtTheZoo · 30/10/2022 15:56

Oh and I overplucked my eyebrows, but thanks to Sugar I did at least only overpluck them UNDER the curvy line so I have two very thin curves left lmao.
