I spent most of the 90s…

With blobs of nail varnish on my tights, as legend had it it would stop ladders running.

Blue, red, purple, it didn’t matter. Mostly applied while on my legs so the said tights would get a bit stuck to my skin.

Did anyone else live by any 90s life hacks, probably learnt from Sugar magazine?

Drinking cider out of those massive plastic bottles. Before cider became cool. Listening to indie music, going to gigs and Glastonbury. It was a lot of fun. Taking photos to jessops or boots to get them printed.

wearing baggy trousers. Had to be long, not ankle swingers like trousers are these days.

anyone remember triple print photos? Where you could cut off the two smaller side photos to give to friends.

I wonder if young people are like that now or what they do now. Must be so different with phones and social media.

Triple print photos!! 🤣 two small ones for your purse or your mates! ❤️

BrilliantGreenFlamingo · 31/10/2022 19:20

Triple print photos were brilliant. They were a bit more expensive but so worth it.

babyyodaxmas · 31/10/2022 19:32

So many of these ! I spent the 90's in Brixton academy, the Camden round house and the Shepard's Bush Empire. Went to the Whirly Gig in Shoreditch, Feet first at Camden and Megatrolis at Heaven . When I wasn't listening to a mate of mate play in some pub with a sticky floor.

mackthepony · 31/10/2022 19:39

93/94 My absolute favourite outfit was a multicoloured tie dyed crochet jumper with holes in it, worn over a black vest top and a very short black skirt with tiny mirrors in it, fishnet tights, massive army boots with 'RIP Kurt' tippexed on them
^

You were the girl I wanted to be!

OooooSweetVampireOMine · 31/10/2022 19:43

Think you were supposed to use clear nail varnish!

ldontWanna · 31/10/2022 19:50

I still do it.😬

pushpushthebutton · 31/10/2022 19:56

For some reason I used to think hair spray could also stop ladders in tights!
I learnt so much from sugar magazine problem pages on the days when you couldn’t google things like ‘ can I get pregnant from a blow job?’

Justanotherlurker · 31/10/2022 20:18

Dropped out of Uni to DJ at illegal raves, ended up in San Fransisco for a year and a half and did Burning man, DJ'd at many underground clubs across the UK and europe, had stints at glastonbury, cafe del mar etc, too many chemicals made me realise i need to settle down so got a 'normal' career by the start of the noughties

Gr33ngr33ngr4ss · 31/10/2022 20:21

Beech Lipliner from The Body Shop. Bath pearls. Shirt, short jumper, short skirt.

Getting into clubs underage.

Thinking I was so cool and was the only person who knew about music..
I "found" Niverna - like, nobody else had heard of them and I'm the one who brought them to the main stream.🙈

Same with Oasis, Jamiroquai and Toploader.

BrilliantGreenFlamingo · 01/11/2022 06:28

@Justanotherlurker what’s your job now? I went to a few illegal races but a bit later in 2000s. Fun times.

the80sweregreat · 01/11/2022 06:31

My youngest is only 25 and J Kay is a 'hero ' of his!

Perhaps, we met, used to go to the Acadamy , Megatripolos and Whirlygig a lot then too.

I was lucky enough to be a teenager in the 80s, then moved to London in 1991. I didn't know a soul but soon met lots of people! I was a mild mannered graduate trainee by day, and dating a string of unsuitable men by night (including the son of an Earl for a while). Then I met my husband and he introduced me to raving, we also got into the festival scene and worked loads for free tickets. God, they were great times! Got married in 97, but didn't really slow down until the 2001 when we had a baby. I feel very lucky to have been young then, young people today don't seem to have half as much fun!

IHeartGeneHunt · 01/11/2022 07:16

I just remembered I used to have plastic bracelets shaped like barbed wire, I loved those. All fluorescent colours with black nail polish. I used to drink at biker pubs and it was £1.99 for triple vodka redbull. So much fun. I miss the 90s.

Aren’t we lucky all the triple print photos of our questionable behaviour are at worst sitting in the bottom of some box in some attic and not on the internet forever?!

So that's why they went out of business! 😆

The 90s were optimistic times I think and that's not doing the whole ' rose tinted glasses' thing

Yes!
I've always said I'm so pleased Facebook wasn't around (in fact the Internet wasnt around) when I was a teenager in the 90s.

I would have been daft enough to post pictures of all my exploits all over the Internet.

My parents barely survived my teenage years as it is, can you imagine if they knew all of it?!
