Anyone tried the shreddies fart absorbing pants?

I’m thinking of buying some of these for my boyfriend for Christmas (more of a present to myself than him). I hate when he farts in bed, and it seems to be only smelling worse as he’s getting older.

Only thing is they are really expensive, so I don’t want to waste my money if they don’t work, if anyone knows any cheaper alternatives I’m all ears?

So anyone tried them? Do they work? And how long do they last? Do they only work for so many washes or will they last a long time?

There's gas and evil scented gas... Mist people don't react to sulphites at all. Sadly I'm not one.

hugoagogo · 28/10/2022 20:56

Oh beer farts are the worst!

I seem to remember there were charcoal filter underwear available from those weird catalogues you used to get in the Sunday supplements...

They sure are … I especially hate it when he’s been on the Guiness … then the farts are just evil…

Maybe you would be better with disposable pads?

Ooh these look interesting … can they be used more than once though? … Otherwise I’m thinking it would work out too expensive the amount of fart pads he would go through …

Just been looking at the flatulence cushion they sell on shreddies too… I mean obviously it won’t work in bed but I can put the fart cushion on the sofa and my partner can sit on it whenever he feels he needs to relieve some gas… I’m thinking that might last longer than the pants as won’t need to be washed as often…

Do the bananas come from Costa Reeker?

Many bananas also come from the Windward Islands.

I wonder how many farts one cushion can hold Confused

I don’t know how it actually works, do you think the cushion will hold onto all the farts and eventually fill up and not hold any more?? 😬

Oh, I thought you meant the cereal.

Chloefairydust · 29/10/2022 00:08

@PinkButtercups I know the name seemed strange to me too lol … random fact - the word shreddies actually means underwear.

So I’m actually not sure how it came to be the name of a breakfast cereal 🤔😂

random fact - the word shreddies actually means underwear.

So does trolleys - and you use them to put your cereal into in the shop!

Like most adults without health conditions, I use the bathroom as needed & don't have concerns about the impact of my digestive system on others.

You think most people go to the bathroom to FART?

If it was a significant problem, yes

I don't fart around other people, ever. I think that's normal.

It's not like I hold it in - I just don't have any requirement to fart with that regularity!

EarringsandLipstick · 29/10/2022 08:06

@Endlesssummer392

Thanks. I know most of these. I have family members with some (and with very debilitating & difficult symptoms). None have issues as described by OP tho.

And OP is not saying her partner has a medical condition

I love how some people are almost claiming that farting is abnormal and farters should be consigned to living a solitary life 😅 Mumsnet can be hilariously prudish. This thread is absolutely the best thing I’ve read all week

Not really - just that the kind of behaviour OP describes - where she's actively looking up specialist underwear to help - is not acceptable.

She's enduring pungent farting regularly in bed. It's gross. 🤮

meditrina · 29/10/2022 08:10

Oh gosh - they're real?

I thought it was a spoof

@EarringsandLipstick irritable bowel symdrome , IBD all sorts chrons for some , different people experience different things
go to your dr for IBS and there isn't much they can do
The average person farts many a times a day thats nature

I really disagree (from experience) that's there's nothing that can be done for IBS. The above poster's dietary suggestions are very useful.

Equally several have mentioned Crohn's, which family members have. It's an awful disease. But I have never observed what's described here.

And again, OP does not say he has any medical conditions.

Gwenhwyfar · 28/10/2022 20:29

"Most normal adults can control their bowels & related digestive issues.
Either he does so, or gets medical advice."

And what will the medical advice be seeing as there is no cure?
Plenty of people suffer from flatulence. Most GPs will put it down to IBS or similar, for which there is no real cure.

That's incorrect. If flatulence is that extreme, dietary changes can help

OP says he wouldn't be willing to go to the doctor though.

Reminds me of the Human Centerpeid. Never watched it as freaks me out.

"I know it’s a problem some people just can’t help, I suspect my partner also falls into this category.
Unless he has a medical diagnosis, then no."

What do you mean by 'no'? Lots of people can't control farts. They haven't all received an official diagnosis.

If they can't control their farts to the extent described by OP, of course they should seek medical advice and / or change their diet.

It's not a normal thing to experience.

You're probably farting in your sleep like every other human.

healthadvice123 · 29/10/2022 09:22

@EarringsandLipstick you really can't accept it can you despite being told by people on here who have condition's
Couple of your family have chron's , well couple of my family fly a plane , doesn't mean i can
Im under investigation for dieter y issues, still trying yp
Work through what it is , what helps , what doesn't and so far not a lot
Also everyone farts thats normal and as another poster said you prob do when your asleep you just don't know
Look up the normal amount for a person to fart

ITriedToStopSwearingButICunt · 29/10/2022 09:44

@EarringsandLipstick I'm baffled as to why you keep posting here as if you’re some sort of expert. It’s excruciating. You clearly have medical experience or training, do not suffer from an issue yourself, yet claim some sort of knowledge because your cousin’s gardener’s budgie has IBS, or whatever other tenuous link.

You actually boldly claimed that there were no medical conditions that caused excessive flatulence, and even dug your heels in when more knowledgeable people pointed out whole lists of them.

And farting isn’t a “behaviour”.
