Anyone tried the shreddies fart absorbing pants?

I’m thinking of buying some of these for my boyfriend for Christmas (more of a present to myself than him). I hate when he farts in bed, and it seems to be only smelling worse as he’s getting older.

Only thing is they are really expensive, so I don’t want to waste my money if they don’t work, if anyone knows any cheaper alternatives I’m all ears?

So anyone tried them? Do they work? And how long do they last? Do they only work for so many washes or will they last a long time?

OP, please tell me this is a rather expensive joke present and not an actual serious one... though your OP gives me the impression it's not for a joke...

No it’s a serious present lol I will have course get him a nice gift too, like some aftershave that he likes or something 😂

I would just love to be snuggled up in bed without the inevitable fart smells wafting out the duvet 🤢

And washing the pants with soda crystals?? How do I do that, do you just put some in the washing machine? … just looked up soda crystals on amazon and it looks like they are for cleaning drains lol I’m so confused right now 🤔

Do they do them for dogs? 🤣

Dinoteeth · 28/10/2022 14:32

WTF?

Can you imagine the random bloke beside you on the plane shoving that down his backside.🤣🤣
Or even worse it slipping out down his trousers😳😳

Haha would look a bit strange… would probably rather that than smelling his farts on the plane for the rest of the journey though 😂

Soda crystals are good for pretty much all types of cleaning, we use them on everything. Drains, clothes, washing up, appliances ... there's nothing soda crystals don't do in our house!

You should be relieved if a random bloke does that. He's obviously a fully aware and considerate toxic farter, so it would be far worse if he didn't.

So do you just put them in the washing machine drawer instead of laundry powder? … never used them before …

Yes nothing worse than being trapped on a plane sitting next to the toxic farter 🤢

I highly doubt that any 'flatulence filtering underwear' will contain smelly farts for more than a few seconds..!

Endlesssummer392 · 28/10/2022 14:49

For all of you taking the piss this is actually a real problem for a lot of people with Inflammatory bowel disease. I have pancolitis, illeitus and crohns disease. It allows me to fly long haul in comfort.

I really struggle on flights as the pressure causes me to balloon and the inflammation in my bowel becomes very painful if I don't pass the gas.

These pants do work however in my experience they stop working after being washed (even if you follow the instructions).

I buy a new pair for every flight. It means I can release all the built up gas, I don't have to worry about the smell and I can stay pain free.

You can't wear them through the security scanners so I just keep them in my hand luggage and put them on once I'm through security.

justcantgetenough · 28/10/2022 14:51

@Chloefairydust they do bedding too, only £180 for a duvet cover, bargain! But then he wouldn't be able to put your head under duvet to appreciate the aroma.

Only joking, actually if saw my dp would buy some for me! Silent and deadly I am but I try not to eat spicy food that triggers it but sometimes you feel like something that you know you'll regret. Or eat out and don't realise.

Dassams · 28/10/2022 14:53

Do they prevent the sound of farts too?

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 28/10/2022 14:54

I (worryingly) assumed the banana thing was actually meant to be shoved right up there and not just nestled in between your crevice of doom. Only problem is, if you've got very tight trousers on, somebody will see the bulge and assume that you've had quite an embarrassing accident.

Does it actually filter the smell, or just ease your cheeks apart and help it to waft out more freely but with less of a sound?

Just imagine if you were wearing those wherever you were when your number was up. All exalted, noble and admirable things you'd ever done in your life, by which you'd hope to be remembered, would be instantly forgotten; and you would forever be known as 'that pervert who died with a banana up their arse'!

Chloefairydust · 28/10/2022 14:54

Sorry @Endlesssummer392 I know it’s a problem some people just can’t help, I suspect my partner also falls into this category. Did you use the soda crystals to wash your pants?

OP posts:
justcantgetenough · 28/10/2022 14:54

@Endlesssummer392 only having a laugh and I know what it's like to suffer with trapped wind.

Good to know they work but bit concerning and costly to only work until washed.

@Fink

I've never used them in a machine instead of detergent so I couldn't say for sure on that. You can run the machine with them in the detergent drawer to clean the machine, or you can add them to detergent as an extra stain remover. If I'm cleaning something only with soda crystals I would do it as a hand wash. But I'm pretty sure, given all the above, that if you were to put the pants in the machine on a gentle cycle, you would just add soda crystals instead of detergent.

TheBlahWitchProject · 28/10/2022 14:56

Thanks for this thread op. You’ve just sorted out my Christmas present list for every male I buy for 💩

Chloefairydust · 28/10/2022 14:57

Yes they are really expensive aren’t they, I suspect shreddies are just taking advantage of lack of competition with pricing. I can’t find a cheaper alternative. I actually own a sewing machine so I’m considering just buying some charcoal infused fabric and adapting ordinary boxers… I gather it’s the charcoal which neutralisers the farts?

The problem, once it's known that they lose effectiveness when washed, is that loads of blokes out there will therefore.... just never wash them. Not a lot of point filtering out your guffs when 10 weeks of your actual naturally unwashed body stink are already harboured in those undercrackers anyway - rather defeats the object.

Endlesssummer392 · 28/10/2022 14:59

Yes I used soda crystals but they stopped working. The company sent me a free replacement pair and they also stopped working after being washed.

Whilst £20 a pair is expensive I just see it as a holiday cost. It really has made a huge difference to me when i fly, not just physically but mentally as well.

They work by filtering out the particles that cause the smell. You do need to make sure they fit tightly.

They loose effectiveness if you don't wash them as well so they do have a limited shelf life.

I wear my normal knickers underneath them.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 28/10/2022 15:01

I can’t find a cheaper alternative.

We buy the Malted Wheaties from Aldi, which are their own brand cheaper version of Shreddies the breakfast cereal, so just give them a little time with these and keep checking out the Middle Aisle Of Surprises.
