If you could go back and choose a different career, what would it be?

I'll start. I'd do medicine and become a coroner

I'd go back in time and be a lighthouse keeper or book shop owner.

I could be a lighthouse keeper. The solitude appeals

An accountant. Like i wanted to be originally. Thanks mum for your unwanted and unasked for interference.

I’d have a craft/book shop with a coffee corner.

Or a ballet dancer

Join the police

I'd be a midwife.

Art restorer

I'd like to be a marine biologist.

I trained as a nurse but wish I had been a child psychologist.

Maybe a PA. I'm a good organiser.

I'd be a midwife or a teacher

Work in the theatre. Or be a therapist.

Actuary - I left after 12 months on a grad scheme for law. I think I would have preferred my first choice in the long run.

Psychologist.

Architecture or product design.

Would really love to career shift into these areas but am too old for multiple years of retraining sadly

Court reporter. That's what I wanted to be, or some sort of computer work. Ended up as a Nurse. lost my mind there

I actually would have the same career again. Didn't realise how much I enjoyed my job until I thought about your question! It's not an overly exciting career, but one that I'm obviously suited to!

Stand up comedian. I think I have the ability to do it but now I don't have the time or funds to invest in it.

Meteorologist or oceanographer...

I'm retired now, and look back on a career in the nhs with some pride, and yes I loved it in the early days.

Funny to think I can't change my mind now.

Photographer or travel writer for the National Geographic.

Something behind the scenes in film and tv, or event planning. I just never knew what my options were back in uni and what was available other than the regular 9-5 accountant, marketing, banking, doctor, lawyer etc jobs. I would do more. Research as to the type of job I wanted and look for specialist uni / training courses that would get me there.

Engineer.

@majorcamaiden that's a really good point. You just don't know what's out there when you're making decisions as a young person.
