Inspired by the Come From Away thread, thought it would be nice to have a thread about musicals in general.

Favourites? Least favourites?

Blood Brothers was amazing. But we’re very close to Liverpool and saw it at the Empire so think that added to it. Was very underwhelmed by Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The lion king was good, but the best part is with the animals at the start. Also loved Matilda.

I might have messed up my kids in many ways, but they both love G&S after a lockdown binge.

Also, my DS was a dancer for many years so we watched a lot of Fred Astaire and Gene Kelley. Happy days.

In the heights is a brilliant musical film. But then, I love anything that Lin Manuel Miranda does. The soundtrack is amazing, as his work usually is 👏

This is like asking someone to name their favourite child. Les Mis was always my favourite until I saw Hamilton original cast at West End. Also loved the Original Miss Saigon before they rebooted it. It had some great songs I am still in love with Michael Ball. As for my Least favourite, I don't think I have seen it yet🤭

Was it ever in the West End? When was that? I must have missed it.

Having said all that, I did NOT like Tick, tick, boom and am wary of watching Dear Evan Hanson as the film trailer looked too sad. Hamilton is on my list for next year though 😉

Loved Six and Matilda most.

According to Wikipedia 2015-2017 and was ‘hugely successful’ so hopefully that means it will be back!

Seen We Will Rock You many times and love it, I actually really enjoyed Chess but its not the most popular one. Little Shop of Horrors is great, esp the film version and also Rocky Horror is brilliant. I prefer the live version compared to the film though.

Wicked the film version is sounding like it will be good.

Saw wicked on Broadway and the whole production was spectacular.

Oh OK. I'd rather it went on tour do I could catch it somewhere more local, rather than traipsing uptown on the tube to see it 😄

I grew up around starlight, will always have a very special place in my heart, then Joseph and basically anything out of the ALW stall.

Wicked the film version? When is that coming out? The show was one of my faves. Absolutely was not expecting to find it that good, although people had said it was.

Christmas 2024 I think. I don't think all the cast has been announced yet, they are still in rehearsals currently. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are starring.

Yes I was rather underwhelmed Sister Act too. Thought it was going to be more family friendly and the music better, like the songs in the film were.

Aww I really liked & Juliet but all the early-late noughties tracks are very nostalgic for me which helped a lot!

I know a crew member and they are still rehearsing apparently, and still having meet8ngs with potential cast members. Arianna Grande is Glinda and Cynthia Erivo is Elphaba. It is going to be in 2 parts on consecutive Christmases.
