Agree with op: He has to be seen to be trendy and liberal. Yeah I'm really sexually fluid. Is he though? With whom? Come out as gay at my concerts.

Nah, the movie thing was hilarious, the spit didn't happen and Harry himself joked about it at one of his concerts.
There's so little bad stuff out there about him, none of it can be proved and it's far overshadowed by good stuff.
I can't wait for Harryween, his costumes, last year's were brilliant, I still listen to him singing Somewhere over the rainbow!

You know who he reminds me of a bit - Madonna. Same try-hard pop sexuality, same focus on image, same great marketing and pop songs.

His new album is good and he has a gorgeous voice.

Perhaps. But if you change the setting or circumstances of a lot of incidents they would take on a different meaning.

Teenage boys makes silly comments all the time, it was in all likelihood a truthful unguarded comment and I found it amusing because at what should have been the pinnacle of their career so far where the world had been placed at their feet he was more imagining how lucky Matt was that he’d instantly become more successful with the opposite sex.

He didn't spit at anyone.
His performance was criticised by the critics and he sounded ridiculous in the interview. He puts on some pearls and carries a handbag and suddenly people talk like he's edgy. He's done nothing original. Instead he's a bit of a try hard borefest. With good PR.

I'm somewhat allergic to 'manufactured' bands so was biased against 1D from day one (not my style of music really).
Then about a year and a half ago, I came across this on youtube (you know when you have it on auto-play so it plays songs along the lines of what you've recently watched?). I had headphones in so wasn't actually looking at it to know who it was.

This is the performance which made me fall in love with him. If you're not imprresed at the beginning - wait for the key change.

It's an interesting song for a man to sing and I think that he's comfortable enough with his masculinity and/or sexuality so that he doesn't really conform to norms.

I know he's not the best singer (as he knows himself). He's not up there with Elton John for example. But he has that certain thing which you can't quite put your finger on which makes him appealing.

He's quirky I guess! He's also very close to his Mum which is always a good sign.

And to everyone who is saying that he's just got good PR, it doesn't matter how good of a salesperson you are, you can't market something that people don't want/need/like.

Yep, and also put the work in, and no one can deny he does that, there's no such thing as a half hearted, phoned in Harry show.
He never stops on stage, gives it his all every night, plus everything else he works on simultaneously.

I love him. I wouldn’t know any of his songs and don’t like boy band type music so wouldn’t give him a listen. I don’t think I’ve even heard him speak. However, his style of dress. His charisma. He’s fabulous.

I genuinely don't think that he would have any issue with coming out as gay! It's not 20 years ago. It's almost a selling point these days.

his management is jeff azoff. same person who managed britney while she was being abused by her team. even lady gaga recently liked a tweet about jeff mistreating his artists which used the # freeharry

he had to go behind his managements back to audition for the role of a closeted gay person in his new movie my policeman. his management using social media handles hshq have barely promoted this film until fans noticed this week and did the promo for them on twitter. they did however give out free harry concert tickets etc for those who went to the premier of don’t worry darling, a film directed by a woman who is friends with harvey weinstein, has made public homophonic and racist comments, and is friends with a self-confessed p*do. a film that is also marketed as being about female pleasure but is actually about rpe.

his team is not a good one and if they feel coming out as gay is damaging then they will not allow it. hence why his concerts are all rainbows and boas and coming out - except the ones where irving azoff attended and he completely toned down the gay. wonder why that was

I wasn't aware of that. I'm sad for him if that's what he's up against. I really hope it's not. I know that as boy bands they're encouraged not to come out publically (there was one guy who came out who was in Westlife).

I thought/presumed that he good people behind him.

It's hard to tell really as he seems fun, charismatic, relaxed, charming, flamboyant and not afraid to express who he is. I would be most surprised if he fell for bollocks.

He's certainly artistic. I would be devastated if he has to live a lie to be 'saleable'.

I really wish that there were people who would advise these young people in the industry. People who've been through all the bullshit.

There's a song Elton John wrote and I only really 'heard' the lyrics recently (there's a difference between listening and hearing). It's so well known, you don't listen sometimes when you've grown up with it. It's this one.

These are the lyrics. They're actually quite damning lyrics when you read them. It has a cheerful tune so I sometimes don't hear some lyrics when I've grown up hearing a song.

I've bolded the lyrics I find most telling. I think Elton was quite young when he wrote it.

Elton was around Harry's current age when he wrote it.

I think that when they're part of a band (rock or even boy bands) they have support from the other members. When they become solo artists, they can get exploited I think and don't have that peer support. The ones who survive the industry are usually the ones with strong and supportive family behind them (not Britney's dad).

Harry appears to be a fan of the Rolling Stones and has a friend in one of those members (can't remember his name). He's also friends with Chris Martin who he describes as 'zen' and tells him to look after himself.

I went to one Rolling Stones concert - it was amazing. So from that point of view, he has mentors in the industry.

I find it hard to believe that he's under the thumb of controlling managers. He just doesn't strike me as the type.

I don't see the allure and as a relative of several musicians have a dislike of manufactured groups, though others have different opinions.
