Tesco is out of stock for everything - we’re doomed!

Logged onto the Tesco site this morning to book a slot for early November. Everything is showing out of stock! Perhaps they know something we don’t…
Apparently they only have one type of red wine to sell (Malbec) and that’s out of stock, too. Gonna be a long and hard winter.🙁

@elisenbrunnen
your courgettes may be available now but i believe the op wnated them for a future order - there is just no guarantee,
we are not in winter now

HouseBook · 16/10/2022 10:24

I suspected it was a software issue impacting future orders and was being tongue in cheek. Tesco has fixed it.

No you didn't. There was zero tongue in cheek about your title or the content if you OP. You have returned and changed your tune because so many people think you are being ridiculous.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 16/10/2022 09:34

why would you want courgettes in winter?

What? I wasn’t aware that buying courgettes was seasonal.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 16/10/2022 10:26

they are indeed seasonal @PriamFarrl

Website glitch

This.

Haven't been able to get a courgette from them for weeks!

Weird
Morrisons have had no courgettes for ages and mine in my veg patch didn't grow at all. Never happened before. Must have been the odd weather

Whycantibetangy · 16/10/2022 10:31

Malbec is my favourite wine🍷

*misses point of thread completely

MrsLargeEmbodied · 16/10/2022 10:31

there was a drought folks

did you forget?

Quite odd, all the shops nearby seem to have all the stock most times especially asda nearby.

MajesticElephant · 16/10/2022 10:33

Can’t get milk at my local Sainsburys but the Tesco 2 miles away was fully stocked! 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is such a depressing comment.

It shows just how out of step with our food chain we are. We really need to improve on this. Buying fruit/veg whilst in season should be cheaper too.

As for the comments about Brexit being 2016. Jesus wept. The Northern Ireland Protocol is the gift that keeps giving in terms of international relations...

PriamFarrl · 16/10/2022 10:35

MrsLargeEmbodied · 16/10/2022 10:26

Well yes, but they are in season right now.
Also, I like many other people, like them so eat them all year round. Even in winter, which it isn’t right now.

itsgettingweird · 16/10/2022 10:36

I'm having trouble getting wheat free stuff currently and what's available is in Co op who have hiked their prices up.

I'm not sure I buy the shop assistants comment it's because of rise in wheat costs either 🤔🤣

PriamFarrl · 16/10/2022 10:36

And that list says that courgettes are in season in October, which it is now and also was last week when I was trying to buy them.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 16/10/2022 10:37

i guess the drought is the issue @PriamFarrl

Ooh will I be thinner <admires winter fat layer laid down in preparation>

Quite. My lard layer is going to be my central heating this winter!

Wombat100 · 16/10/2022 10:41

Hardly doomed though are we. Stop making people panic.

Yes I’m pretty sure it was.

Exactly. Really irresponsible to start threads like this stirring up panic. It was nothing more than a website glitch.

orangeisthenewpuce · 16/10/2022 09:44

Shopped in my local asda yesterday. They had all of those things

Same here. Plenty of rice, pasta, puree, tinned tomatoes etc. There are odd gaps on the shelves, but none of us are going to go hungry (well if we can afford to buy what we need, but that is another thread entirely).

I am suspicious of motives of some posters on this thread tbh.

gogohmm · 16/10/2022 10:47

It's fine here except lidl never seems to have crisps on weekends, which might be telling me not to buy them!

No issues with any of the products others have mentioned but we are a priority store the manager said as particularly profitable

BluSquid · 16/10/2022 10:48

Customs changed over to a completely different operating system at the beginning of this month. They knew that it would cause massive shortages, I'm really surprised that there was no announcement about it.

Anybody shipping goods in from outside the UK will have to update to the new system. A lot of them didn't realise, or didn't bother, so all the goods are being held up at the border until the sellers manage to get onto the new system, which needs authorising by customs who are really backed up. So it's not that there's any supply shortages, it's just that it's all struggling to make it into the country.

Manekinek0 · 16/10/2022 10:48

Oh shit! I'm going out later to buy all the toilet roll, dried pasta and wine. Is there anything else I need? Do courgettes freeze well? /s

It will be though, because shortages of wheat will drive up prices and availability on products which use substitutes for wheat.

I don't understand why you think it's not a fair comment.
