Gas energy rebate

Has anyone with British Gas received their energy rebate yet?

My email said Id get £67 into my account a few days after I paid. The money for the DD came out on the 3rd but no sign of the £67 coming in!

Have others had theirs?!

You don’t get it as cash in your bank account. It’s just deducted from your bill

Have you looked at your bill? I didn’t get a notice it said listed how much energy I used; the cost; and then deduction of £67.

Some companies are sending it to the bank account rather than using it for the energy bill

If you're with BG then they will be taking the money from your energy account and returning it to your bank account

I'm very cynical about the way BG are handling it, it would make much more sense to credit our energy account and not bank accounts.

However they have over 9 million customers so if they keep the £66 for a bit longer than necessary £594,000,000 sitting in their coffers for a week!

Tbh I'd rather it stayed in my BG account. Winter is going to be very expensive. Many people who are currently in credit, only appear do because they haven't paid a bill for a while.

I'm very much in credit and last bill (well over £500) was in Sept (we overpay a lot as I prefer to be comfortable and have the money out of bank).

But I would rather it stay in my account for this reason and we don't know what winter bills will be. Would be nice if we got the choice.

Still not received the payment though and DD was on 3rd.

BG - Received the credit on our account 5th October, we don't have a direct debit set up so they can't send to our bank so we will just deduct it from our bills.
Has anyone got their October bill? I submitted our readings on 1st and again on Thursday incase it didn't go through but still waiting.

Edf here - I was expecting a refund to our account because they said that is what they were doing.

However, there is a footnote to say that they will put it to your account if you’re in debit. Which I don’t know because they haven’t sent me a bill since April 🤷🏼‍♀️

@MagnaQuestion I've been following your thread. My BG DD went out on 3/10 and I've had the £66 rebate paid into my bank account today. Hope yours is on its way too.

Edf- pay by ddr on 1st of each month. Refund of £66 came into my bank account this morning

Thanks @CrimsonThunder . Mine went out 3rd too but hasn't appeared yet - hopefully soon! It does show as having come in, and gone out of, my energy account though so looking good.

Didn't even choose to be with them - was compulsorily transferred over when mine went bust.

We've got the same - DD went out on the 3rd, no sign of the £66 in our bank account or listed anywhere on the app.

@BonesOfWhatYouBelieve annoying isn't it, I like to know what is happening with things! They've got the nerve to be suggesting I raise my monthly direct debit by about the amount same that is supposed to be coming in, as well!

We are with OVO and have ended up with £66 going back into the bank. I thought it had to be credited onto the energy account?

@poorbuthappy some companies are paying it to the energy account and some are paying it to the bank account. I'm with Octopus and they are paying it to the energy account and are reducing the existing direct debit by the £66 so the total remains the same.

I'm with Octopus and our credit just went in. So they reduced our DD by £66 but my Octopus account has just recieved the govt £66 in, so that plus my reduced DD make it back up to the original DD amount :)

What, like simply making the price of energy cheaper in the first place? You’d think!

It all seems so backwards and is just making unnecessary work for the poor sods having to deal with all the phone calls and subsequent admin.

Could work if it was heavily subsidised for the first x kwh (or y kwh for vulnerable with high energy needs), then a higher price over that. Not a flat rate or it just gives the most money to the rich with high usage. The £400 at least helps out those with low usage who are still struggling, it's 1/3 of my yearly bill.
