Mine is Shell,

Electric 35p pKwh & standing charge 38.9p
Gas 10p pKwh & standing charge 28.5p

I'm curious to see how this compares

Electric was 36p, now 34p with government cap (sc 25p)
Gas 9.7p (sc 26p)

Meltingsocks · 01/10/2022 08:26

How it yours so low, are you on a fix?

Elec 53p per KW
GAS 14.72p per kw

Standing charges 42p and 28p

Are you sure this is right? The government two year cap is similar to the OP (some variation by region)

@MinervaTerrathorn that's what my app says but I agree it's well over the cap!! I hadn't realised. I'll message my provider now EON

Apparently a lotbof apps haven't updated yet so not showing the new gov price cap.

FivePotatoesHigh · 01/10/2022 08:35

We’re with Shell

Elec 28.46p per kilowatt, 43.39p standing
Gas 7.48p per kilowatt, 27.22p standing

Shell app is offering me a switch to a tariff called ‘energy price guarantee direct debit ebill’ which is more expensive on every point, so no thanks

Mine hasn't brought my electricity price down yet but I had an email with new prices. Assume it will update soon, they are just very busy.

BarbaraofSeville · 01/10/2022 08:37

OP that looks like the new standard rates, which about 80% of people will be on or there or there abouts (there's some slight regional variation in electricity costs and according to different payment methods).

We're on a slightly lower fix (about 30 p for electricity and 8 p for gas) until February, so we're winning at the moment but conversely paid more than we needed to for the last 6 months in anticipation of massive rises in the standard tariff that now aren't happening - but it probably balances out over time.

If you're on a fix that's more than the current price cap rates, I would have thought that your provider would have to allow you to move, but I don't know if it will happen automatically. Definitely check it out if you're in this position though.

Not sure if these are the old or new prices. Would be nice if they went down!

dementedpixie · 01/10/2022 08:48

Have submitted my readings today
My prices are in line with the new price guarantee.
My Octopus app says the price guarantee prices haven't been updated to the app yet so they still show the original October price rise

Im with Eon Next and my prices havent changed so still way over the cap! I have been trying to contact them by phone, twitter and whatsapp for a week and still not had a reply!

AngieBolen · 01/10/2022 08:59

Hmmm...maybe Eon haven't updated their prices on the app yet? I'm just happy they won't be taking the £278 out of my account that they have been for the last three months.

OxanaVorontsova · 01/10/2022 09:09

So energy
Electricity
49.92 sc
32.23
Gas
28.47 sc
10.19

blibblibs · 01/10/2022 09:12

Scottish Power, but can't access the app at the moment so no idea

NippyWoowoo · 01/10/2022 09:13

I'm with Scottish power, all electric (Economy 7) so have day and night rates

Standing charge: 33.24p (from 32.22)
Day rate: 47.598p (from 36.150)
Night rate: 12.109p (from 16.094)

According to their predictions I will pay £55 less a year, but I highly doubt it. That being said I do consume more energy in the night rate as I have a water tank and storage heater, and that unit price has dropped.

Have they not emailed you with your new prices?
Octopus emailed me on 17th September to tell me what my new prices would be from October

Meltingsocks · 01/10/2022 09:18

Ah thanks @Violashift

I've messaged them anyway as don't trust any of the energy companies as far as I can throw them

Raidtheice · 01/10/2022 09:19

It's bad that people haven't had the new updated prices and not moved onto cheap deals yet. Even if you have gone on a fixed tariff above the cap, you should get a reduced rate based on the cap according to the government website

I'm with Ovo and they automatically moved me onto the cheaper tariff.
