Sketchers - any good or for oldies?!

DD says they're for old people. But I'm off on a big holiday in a few weeks and need some comfy footwear. Would anyone recommend any styles?

I love mine. I wear them all of the time, I'm on my feet all day at work and suffer with flat feet and plantar fascitis and they're the only thing I can wear that doesn't cause me to cry by the end of the day!
They are known for being for oldies but I'm 50 and unfashionable so ey ho.
Mine are plain black.

Im late 30s. They're comfy and I don't care if supposedly for ' oldies', comfort 1st

Got into them recently. They're very good. They have all kinds of styles in the shop, some a little old style but others are cool

Love mine, I'm mid 30s, I think you have to choose the style carefully though.

Rollercoaster1920 · 30/09/2022 21:13

If you find them comfy because you have wide feet theft

waltzingparrot · 30/09/2022 21:13

I get them because they are so so comfy to wear all day.

I wear the D'Lites as they are cute and look like something the Spice Girls wore, not sure if they are screaming oldie?!

Earlier this year I saw some sandals in Shuropedys window display that looked nice and borderline fashionable, now those I still were a bit unsure on and didn't try on!

Rollercoaster1920 · 30/09/2022 21:15

Sorry, hit post by accident! If you have wide feet then New Balance might be an alternative. They may be more cool (dunno, I'm not the most fashionable, but I do like comfy toes).

hattie43 · 30/09/2022 21:16

They are really comfortable.

Hoppinggreen · 30/09/2022 21:16

17 year old fashionista DD has some for playing sports in.
I love mine but they do ruin you for other shoes

crazynell · 30/09/2022 21:17

If you like them then wear them and stop worrying about whether they're for oldies - it doesn't matter and DH sounds a bit ageist

SavingsThreads · 30/09/2022 21:17

I'm 25 and have some! Bought them for a big city break holiday. Guy in the shop said most people ask him for them to go to NYC!

Branleuse · 30/09/2022 21:21

Theyre super comfy, but theyre not trendy. Id like them to bring out a nicer looking range

It's not ageist to point out they're popular with a certain demographic.

I tend to walk energetically and my stomping made the soles wear down and compact unevenly and affect my posture.
I cannot recommend shoes that hurt my feet after only a few weeks.

MrsTxx · 30/09/2022 21:35

I'm in early 20s and have a black pair for work while I'm on my feet all day! So comfy, only shoes I've found that don't make me want to curl up in ball once I've finished my shift

cathycake · 30/09/2022 21:35

Love my Sketchers they really are so comfortable. I was worried they would look too old womanly but Ive found styles that work for me but I dont dress old womanly either 😁
I prefer the slip on types with fake laces as i found the others too chunky on me. I get Sketcher envy if I see someone wearing theirs when I’m not in mine.
Once you start wearing them putting on regular shoes feels like torture to me
Go for it!

MissingGrandstand · 30/09/2022 21:35

I'm 29 and have a pair! They are comfortable and I love them.

Not saying I'm a fashionista but I had them (sketchers air? All white with holes in and a cushioned sole) on today with a dress and a jumper and 3 separate people complimented me on my outfit (which NEVER happens)

MagratsDanglyCharms21 · 30/09/2022 21:37

I gave mine to the charity shop after 3 days of wearing.... a complete waste of £60! They triggered tendonitis in just that length of time due to total lack of support. To be fair, I knew the support was crap when I tried them on in the shop but they felt like walking around in my slippers so I bought them anyway. More fool me! The newer design arch support ones might be better though?

StillMedusa · 30/09/2022 21:37

I live in them... trainers for dog walking, boat shoes (slightly smarter) and I even have a pair of sparkly wedges for weddings Grin
Comfort is all...!

Bonjovispjs · 30/09/2022 21:39

I had no idea they were for oldies, that explains why I like them so much 😆 although does anyone else find the soles slippery when it's been raining once you've had them for a while?

bloodyplanes · 30/09/2022 21:41

They are so comfortable, I love mine

I blame them for tendinitis in my knee, too bouncy and unstable.Sad

Deadringer · 30/09/2022 21:47

My podiatrist told me to avoid Sketchers, they are comfy but not supportive at all.

Shellingbynight · 30/09/2022 21:49

I have various foot/ankle problems including plantar fasciitis, I tried Sketchers and really wanted them to work for me. But they didn't and they went to a charity shoe bank. I'm 65 so clearly they do not work for all of us oldies.
