Sketchers - any good or for oldies?!

DD says they're for old people. But I'm off on a big holiday in a few weeks and need some comfy footwear. Would anyone recommend any styles?

Everyone also says they love mine… but I am old and so are all my friends so…

Mustreadabook · 30/09/2022 22:41

I got the arch support ones, i got mens because i have wide feet and didn’t want pastel colour. They were very comfy until after just 3 months the lining on the heel has worn out and I’ve had to patch them. So id say they are not designed for actually walking around very far in!

Roserunner · 30/09/2022 22:43

I used to wear sketchers all the time in the 90s and loved them. I had a pair more recently and they wore out really quickly. I started to get back ache and realised I only got it after I wore my sketchers. As soon as I stopped wearing them it went away! I wouldn't recommend them. I run in new balance trainers and have now bought a pair to walk in as well and I've had no issues.

Depends on the style, some yes are quite oldie, some look like trendy trainers. So unless you say what type its hard to answer.

FleeUpFreeTime · 30/09/2022 22:45

Love mine worn them to work and at work everyday for over a year and only now are the insoles starting to rip. Best £45 I ever spent

bloodyunicorns · 30/09/2022 22:47

I love mine. I'm 50 ... so not old. They are so comfy and stylish.

allboysherebutme · 30/09/2022 22:49

By husband loves him. X

allboysherebutme · 30/09/2022 22:49

I love mine. Wear them all the time walking to work around London. Uno ones with white sole. I'm 40 something 😁

Will try add image

Those are not too bad, but id rather not have the white sole

Kumri · 30/09/2022 23:05

Oldies?! Most of DS’ shoes are from Skechers.

Should I have some?!

RampantIvy · 30/09/2022 23:07

I find Skechers incredibly comfortable. The mumsnet fashionistas love to sneer at them because they aren't "cool", but if I am on my feet a lot comfort wins over style every time.

I would hazard a guess that if you removed the logos from all the footwear brands Skechers would be more popular.

Nannyamc · 30/09/2022 23:26

Love them. Wear with an insert. Wide enough to incorporate it. Have relieved back pain now 5 yrs +.

LadyEloise1 · 30/09/2022 23:37

The Skechers Arch Fit are great for walking. Despite what my podiatrist says.
Other Skechers are too flat and not as supportive.

crazynell · 30/09/2022 23:43

@User2145738790 clearly not just older people like them if these posts are anything to go by

Crikeyalmighty · 30/09/2022 23:57

I only wear sketchers or boots- I gave2 pairs of trainers and 3 pairs of sketchers sandals- unbeatable for comfort!!!

Crikeyalmighty · 01/10/2022 00:01

Apologies Skechers!!

fallfallfall · 01/10/2022 00:04

regardless of style it's really about fit. none of them come up high enough on the back of my heel. horrible feeling, like having it half off all day or a sock that's sagging.

Verytirednow · 01/10/2022 00:08

I am early 50s and I bought a pair in NY four years ago …they are so comfortable!

slowquickstep · 01/10/2022 00:10

My podiatrist told me to avoid memory foam as it is the material made by the devil/

FatMog · 01/10/2022 00:13

I have MASSIVE feet, very wide (EEE+) and I used to wear Skechers but recently they're coming up too narrow. Shame, because there's an outlet shop near me and can get some bargains. The men in my life still wear them, but they are 50+...I am currently into Hotter trainers, more out of being able to fit than style (because they don't have a lot, tbh).

mountainsunsets · 01/10/2022 03:35

SimonaRazowska · 30/09/2022 22:33

They are a very wide loose fit

Not good for slim or bony or narrow feet

I have ridiculously narrow feet and find it impossible to find shoes that fit me,

I wear Skechers to work all day as a dog walker - I cover 20k steps in a day and I've never known more comfortable shoes.

Deadringer · 30/09/2022 21:47

My podiatrist told me to avoid Sketchers, they are comfy but not supportive at all.

This is exactly my experience of them! I even bought the support version but whilst they were comfy and like wearing slippers, they did nothing for my feet!

GingerPigz · 01/10/2022 07:35

I work at a Podiatrist Clinic and we recommend Skechers as an every day shoe for most people. I find mine (Go Walk) very comfortable and inoffensive to look at - definitely not going to take the fashion world by storm but nor do they make me feel frumpy. Would definitely recommend for an active holiday.

PurpleParrotfish · 01/10/2022 07:48

I bought a pair a few months ago (I have wide feet). They are super comfortable with ankle socks but rubbed the back of my ankles badly in trainer socks. I bought some special running ‘no blister’ socks which work until they slip down. Obviously just me though as no one else has mentioned this problem!

EerilyDevilled · 01/10/2022 07:49

Another one whose podiatrist told me to avoid memory foam soles like the plague when I had plantar fasciitis. DH wouldn't listen to me, bought a pair and ended up in agony having never suffered foot pain before.
