Human remains, believed to be part of a child’s skull have been found on Saddleworth Moor. Please god let this be Keith Bennett. That poor child can hopefully finally be laid to rest in eternal peace with his mother.

The authors tag is @rippertourldn

His tag is as tasteful as the tweets.

What led to the remains being found a couple days ago?

Its incredibly sad to think of his poor mum never knowing where he was. I hope that any surviving family are able to grieve in peace and able to have some kind of funeral or remembrance ceremony if they want to.

DarkDarkNight · 30/09/2022 20:06

It was so sad when his mum died without the body ever having been found. I hope it is Keith and he can be laid to rest with his mum as she wanted. I believe his brother is still alive and hope this will bring some sense of closure.

Noteverybodylives · 30/09/2022 20:09

I do think that whatever was found was definitely human remains,

I agree.

It has got to definitely be human remains as I’ve never seen forensic tests, massive police presence or the fire brigade attend something that might be human remains, considering there are bones found all of the time.

Friedgreentomatoeshere · 30/09/2022 20:10

I'm going to reserve judgement until we have the official Police report.

However, I do hope it is Keith and then his relatives can find some closure.

Namechangedforthisonetoday · 30/09/2022 20:21

ross I completely agree. There is something about those monsters that has imo caused almost unrivalled anger in people. They are seen as bogeyman type characters, the stuff of nightmares. If you look at say, Fred and Rose West, they’ve almost become daft caricatures. There have been memes about them, videos on FB with people dressed as them for Halloween, it’s almost like they are some bizarre joke (I do not agree with this btw). With Hindley & Brady, this has never been the case. Those infamous mugshots leave people cold. As a child I remember seeing pictures of them on tv and being told that bad people can hurt children and take them away. That’s my first real memory of thinking someone was ‘bad’ if that makes sense. The outrage and anger towards those two is still felt strongly today. Keith being left up there, alone on the moors is something that people feel so strongly about, and rightly so. They are like ghouls who’ve stolen children, and one of those poor children is still out there, lost and waiting to come home. People shedding a tear and wanting to talk about Keith coming home, away from the cold and dark of the moors is imo a perfectly normal reaction. The bogeymen can’t hurt him, or anyone else affected by them, anymore.

I hope it’s Keith but I also always wondered if there were others

trilobiterevival · 30/09/2022 20:33

I certainly wouldnt trust the gutter tabloids for any actual facts. Any broadsheets discussing it?

It's in almost every paper and being reported by the BBC.

I do think that whatever was found was definitely human remains, I grew up close to Saddleworth moors and the amount of people who called the police after finding bones was astounding, they all turned out to be the bones of animals, yet I've never seen a police response like this before. oh I don’t know. In an age of social media, someone who has made it his life’s work to find this body, with access to social media.

He is such a self serving twat that it’s inevitable he would have posted that tweet, and if nothing was being done to confirm the find there would be outcry. Plus the place would be covered with grief tourists and hangers on wanting to help recover the rest.

The police have to take it seriously, for that reason alone.

CactusBlossom · 30/09/2022 20:48

That poor little boy and his family. All those years and his mum never had closure before she died. So very sad that Brady and Hindley were so cruel to innocent children.

oakleaffy · 30/09/2022 20:52

A human skull is fairly distinctive, especially if there are teeth attached.- They will be able to tell the approximate age the person was at death, by the dentition and sutures on the skull ( if skull is complete)
Forensics would know if the bones were recently buried- or from a long time ago.
The “Businessman” if he has located the site of the innocent child ought not be capitalising on it.

TheNefariousOrange · 30/09/2022 20:56

I'm so sceptical about this. They did a mass search of a vast amount of area back in the day and now a random writer just happened to stumble across the bones near to where the other bodies were found?

OneFrenchEgg · 30/09/2022 21:03

It would be weird not to be interested. For me, the Moors murders were in the background while I've been alive

EmmaH2022 · 30/09/2022 21:04

OP "If you look at say, Fred and Rose West, they’ve almost become daft caricatures. There have been memes about them, videos on FB with people dressed as them for Halloween, it’s almost like they are some bizarre joke"

I had no idea. That's horrendous.

Strangeways19 · 30/09/2022 21:05

So sad that his family had to endure this pain & his mother took it to her grave.
What hindley & Brady did was possibly the worst crime by individuals I can remember.
So many children

Did I read that the landscape shifts around though. And it said 'several hundred yards' from where the original bodies were found so in any direction, particularly if thye've moved over time is like a needle in a haystack

I can confidently say that I won't be buying his book no matter how well-written ir well-researched it is - I think he's behaved appallingly, capitalising on the grief of Keith's family like this.

I'm not sure I can see any wallowing but all the 'I'm in tears here' posts and another 'sobbing my heart out', can make people come across that way I guess.

I guess the brutal rape and murder of a child (whose body has never been found or death officially confirmed) does make some people tearful.

This. 100x this.

UrsulaPandress · 30/09/2022 21:16

Bet you wouldn’t get many grief tourists up there.

And yes, peat shifts.

ThreeRingCircus · 30/09/2022 21:28

I mean, Keith is dead. We all know that, it isn’t as if everyone is waiting with baited breath to see if there might be a conclusion. We know what happened and we know the outcome. Bones don’t change that.

WTF have I just read?! Of course we all know he's dead....but this is a child. Someone's darling little boy tortured, murdered and left alone on a moor for decades with his family just wanting him home.

So I'm sorry, but bones do change something if it means his poor, tormented family can finally lay him to rest and get just a moment of closure after almost sixty years.

I pray it's him, and I hope all the miserable posters find some empathy one day.

idontsellwaxmelts · 30/09/2022 21:29

Keith Bennett's brother has posted on Facebook that this is actually untrue 🥺

FayeGovan · 30/09/2022 21:33

Terrible the family are having to deal with this speculation in public.

LadyTwinkle · 30/09/2022 21:36

I just saw this on the BBC news. But they didn't even confirm it to be human remains. Just that the Police were investigating a potential burial site. Nothing conclusive. Look at what happened a couple of years ago in Gloucester. A documentary team thought they'd found the body of one of Fred West's victims in the foundations of a cafe and then it turned out to be blue plastic. These are all real people with real families children who had their lives stolen yet some of these 'crime writing glory hunters are acting like they've found buried treasure not a murdered child.
