Human remains found on Saddleworth Moor

Human remains, believed to be part of a child’s skull have been found on Saddleworth Moor. Please god let this be Keith Bennett. That poor child can hopefully finally be laid to rest in eternal peace with his mother.

I really hope this is Keith Bennett for his brothers' sake and so that he can be properly laid to rest, but that tweet, if from the man involved, is ghoulish.

I understand the family emphasising that nothing has been confirmed yet so that they're left alone for the time being at least. Must be unbearable, getting your hopes up.

Beees · 30/09/2022 16:42

They want to be the one who solved the mystery or whatever.

Oh I can absolutely see that people might fall into this type of category but surely there is still something in what he's saying? Even someone desperate to be the one to solve something so major wouldn't just make this kind of stuff up? It's not exactly going to get the notoriety he's clearly after is it?

PineappleWilson · 30/09/2022 16:43

Having seen that author's tweet, I hope he's found a sheep, frankly. Dreadful self-inflating message. Not a topic to do "wooh! smiley faces" about.

Hopefully it is Keith, but I also hope the author hasn't caused any issues by doing his own digging, whoever is supposed to have been supporting or supervising him.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 30/09/2022 16:44

That tweet is awful, what's he going to do if its some other poor child. I'd think their are lots of parents of missing children out there who are waiting for closure.

Hopefully they'll be able to tell soon who it is

UrsulaPandress · 30/09/2022 16:45

There’s nothing to solve though. Just a body to find.

PineappleWilson · 30/09/2022 16:47

@UrsulaPandress there is if the remains turn out to be someone else.

UrsulaPandress · 30/09/2022 16:48

True. I just meant in relation to Keith.

MayThe4th · 30/09/2022 16:49

I hope people are starting to challenge him on those tweets. Time he got a bit of negative response.

OneFrenchEgg · 30/09/2022 16:50

One person did but everyone else seemed to be fawning over him on Twitter

Namechangedforthisonetoday · 30/09/2022 16:53

He’s really let himself down with those emojis.

I’ve just <ahem> added my opinion. On that tweet. Vile individual.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 30/09/2022 16:57

I also really hope it's him and he can be laid to rest with his mum. That poor lady.

WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 30/09/2022 16:58

God that tweet is VILE and shocking. Shame on this man!

I mean, there is no actual real proper evidence it's Keith yet is there?! Shock

No even assuming he knows more than has been released to the media as he was there, there is still no way he knows it is Keith as the DNA tests will take a while.

Good, I never ever tweet (just use it to read stuff) but might break a habit for this

I thought as much!

The brother said this has happened a few times before so he’s not getting his hopes up.

I hope it is his skull as that is the most important bone to find.

Apparently, it’s going to take a couple of weeks to determine whether it’s his or not - not sure why though!

I imagine that they will need to compare DNA with Keith's brother - they'll need to wait for results to be revealed.

Tests take as long as they take and can't be rushed. (I don't know how long they take BTW - I have little to no forensic knowledge).

diddl · 30/09/2022 17:06

Ooh that tweet-so disappointing.

uhtredbebbanburg · 30/09/2022 17:07

What have I just seen in that Tweet? We all hope it’s Keith. Poor poor boy and poor family. But there will never be a happy ending and smiley emojis are totally inappropriate.

I hope so. It doesn’t have any mentions after mine, and my tweet already has several likes. <off to name change as I realise I’ve just outed myself>.

PriamFarrl · 30/09/2022 17:12

I do hope it’s him. I always felt for his poor mother. Hopefully if it is him she can be laid to rest with her.

But, there is nothing yet to say it’s human remains, and the author seems a twat.

Namechangedforthisonetoday · 30/09/2022 17:16

I really hope this man has not lost sight of the fact Keith Bennett was/is a real 12 year old boy with a mum and a family who love him very much. This is not a prize. He hasn’t won a contest. Yes there will be a sense almost of victory (probably the wrong word) over Brady as he was desperate for Keith never to be found, but that little boy suffered the most awful death and the most undignified burial, all alone on those moors all these years. There are no winners. The family just need peace and to lay Keith to rest with Winnie. It is commendable that this man has dedicated so much time to finding Keith, but remaining quietly dignified now should be the correct response.

From reading some of the news reports, the soil analysis does seem likely to suggest it’s human remains, and the skull and teeth indicate a 12 year old. But the police aren’t yet confirming that the soil analysis did come from that site.

The author has also described in detail the smell when he dug it which is just a vile thing to do

MayThe4th · 30/09/2022 17:22

The author has also described in detail the smell when he dug it which is just a vile thing to do surely there wouldn’t be a smell? We’re talking about something which happened nearly 60 years ago. It’s not like finding a decomposed body, it would purely be bones etc.

So on that basis I think he’s just talking all this up so he can sell more copies of his book when he publishes it. If it turns out to be KB.

Dibbydoos · 30/09/2022 17:28

I sincerely hope its Keith. Bless him and his family.

Hindley and Brady should have hanged for what they did the bastards.
