Best supermarket or brand pizza

Hi,

Every Saturday is pizza night with Strictly and instead of takeaway, this year we're going to work our way through some supermarket ones to save on money (and hopefully calories!)

So what's your favourite supermarket pizza please. My current favourite is Aldi Calbrese with rocket side salad

1-we stock up on the boxes to make your own at Lidl Italian week and add or favourite toppings.
2- dyi is very easy if you have a thermomix.
3- Waitrose Calabrian salami

Get your own made at the Morrisons pizza counter!

Reasonable price, range of toppings, and they cater for vegans.

I don't like any of the supermarket pizza counter ones. The bases are horrible, nothing like fresh pizza at all.

WolverineBluey · 30/09/2022 12:25

Crosta & Mollica are the business and often on offer. Fresh supermarket pizzas have become so expensive!

Also recently tried a new frozen range from Zizzi that was v good, a bit cheaper than C&M.

The Co-op's posh pizzas are really good.

jazzyseph · 30/09/2022 13:53

Another vote for Crosta & Mollica - it's amazing

TimetohittheroadJack · 30/09/2022 13:58

i assemble my own using left over chicken curry on those big Nan bread topped with cheese.

Oh yes, I like that small ridiculously cheesy one with the onions on. It’s delicious.

Vegetablesupreme · 30/09/2022 14:34

Lots of votes for Crosta and mollica! Can anyone tell me the topping choices available for them?

Monkeybutt1 · 30/09/2022 14:43

I have some Iceland Takeaway pizzas in the freezer, not tried them yet but they came highly recommended by my very picky brother.
I agree its nice to make your own, but sometimes you just want to be able to literally shove them in the oven with no effort at all.

Tesco stone baked sweet chilli chicken pizza:)

Second this

My DS's like the Aldi ones - in a black box in the freezer, rectangular shaped. All flavours are good!

We buy a good basic margarita and add our own toppings.

The best ones are the asda make your own from the pizza counter. Cant beat them.
If we don't want to spend the £6 or so for two then we buy 2 x frozen cheapest pizzas 66p each and top them with stuff from the fridge. There's a good amount of cheese on them for cheap pizzas which cant be said for all of them.
We call it fridge pizza night and it uses up bits of meat/cheese and ends of bits of veg like peppers and sweetcorn etc.

DelilahBucket · 30/09/2022 14:58

Morrisons make your own and Sainsbury's currently have a pizza meal deal and the stuffed crust cheese ones are nice.

Bloodybridget · 30/09/2022 14:59

Magn · 30/09/2022 10:02

@Bloodybridget possibly not getting the oven your enough before you put the pizza in or over kneaded the dough?

Yes, thanks @Magn , could be that - I do aim to get the oven very hot but possibly kneading too long.

SallyWD · 30/09/2022 15:00

Crosta and Mollica 👌

zeromango · 30/09/2022 15:03

The Lidl deluxe pizzas are absolutely gorgeous - £3.99 each and we love them so much we no longer buy takeaway pizza! So much cheaper but still feel a treat as the quality is great. The ham and mushroom in particular is lovely. Sourdough base so great for dipping into garlic sauce 😋

I have a secret soft spot for a Dr Oetker mushroom Grin

However I also recommend all the Sainsburys Taste The difference ones. Except any that involve chicken- that is a crime against pizza.

I came on to Dr Oetker Mushroom - it's such a treat when I find one (and they're on offer)

I don't know what they do with the mushrooms but mmmmm 😁

Margherita, one with prosciutto, one with salami, fiorentina, one with roasted veg. I buy a margherita and add my favourite toppings which are smoked salmon and green olives or capers.

FLOWER1982 · 30/09/2022 15:14

If you have a bread maker you can just chuck the ingredients in. Far nicer to bake your own.

Puppypads · 30/09/2022 16:49

Crosta & Mollica without doubt

McAvennie · 30/09/2022 16:54

Yep definitely Crosta & Mollica - the prosciutto & pesto on the garlic base (no tomato) is my fave and always in the Tesco freezer section.

caffelattetogo · 30/09/2022 16:57

Homemade taste better and are much cheaper. We make four large pizzas for under £4 and all chuck our own toppings on. Do them square on baking trays and they fit better in the oven.

Datafan55 · 30/09/2022 16:58

Tesco Hearty (cheap brand) pepperoni. Just lovely! and all for 66p.
