Is anyone else just totally fucking fed up with it all now...

I'm probably going through some hormonal changes which isn't helping my mood 😔 but the last few years has been been proper shit and now the foreseeable future looks shit too. I just feel demotivated and overworked, underpaid and stretched as are my colleagues. Food and fuel prices are rediculous and I actually feel sick everytime I go to the supermarket. I can't get a doctors appointment, my dentist has gone private without telling me. Public transport where I live is diabolical buses aren't turning up yet I'm paying £60 a month for my schools bus pass, taxis are charging the earth if you can get one and then refusing to do long distances. The council think it's a good idea to do road works all at once causing more chaos and stress in the mornings so everyday feels like I'm playing road blocks. Im now anxious and stressed about rising interest rates and pissed off that I probably won't afford a holiday again for the 4th year because I'm just trying to survive and make it through the day/month or fucking year!

All of the above - Plus 11 weeks trying to sort out health to no avail

Plus months of tradesmen promising to do jobs, booking it in and not turning it up, even lying about their children's health. Have no functioning toilet, water everywhere and not one plumber has responded.

Oh, and no work for a fortnight - being self-employed. So totally fed up.

sadsack78 · 28/09/2022 15:00

I have no wish to offend anyone- we all have the sacred right to vote as we wish.

But I am so irrationally angry at not only the Tory party but also all the smug Tory voters who wanted to feel like they were middle class.

Guess what? The Tories did not have any interest in protecting you as one of their own. And now we're here.

waffless · 28/09/2022 15:22

Never vote Tory. Never buy The Sun, Daily Mail or Telegraph. Write to your MP. Make some noise.

A bit of a controlling lefty? People can read wherever they want.

hamstersarse · 28/09/2022 15:23

I dunno, yeah stuff is pretty shit at the moment - but any cursory glance into history shows this is still a great time to be alive. Probably still easier than almost any time in all of human history.

I never quite understand how people seem to think life should be easy all the time? It generally involves suffering and hardship tbh and we have just had it a bit easy for the past few decades?

antelopevalley · 28/09/2022 15:25

@hamstersarse I think we should be able to trust the government to do the best for the country. They no longer do. That is pretty shocking and makes it feel more like a third world country where the government are simply corrupt.

Bretonbear · 28/09/2022 15:36

I'm with you. I feel sick when looking at the prices in the supermarket and just want to go home. It is scary how much basics are now.

waffless · 28/09/2022 15:37

Did Borises vaccines even work? is this comment for real?

But we are talking about basic human rights such food, warmth and shelter. Everything else is just adding to the shit. And the road works just break you. Some days out whole city has come to a stand still due to several road works and once, and ba dtiming of lights. The whole city was practically an hour late for work/school. My local bus company constantly advertising catch a bus this September, ease the traffic etc etc. The fucking buses don't even turn up! They have also increased their fairs massively. These adverts just take the absolute piss.

Talking about basic Human Rights - The government plans are to stop access to European Court of Human Rights! This is shocking and no need to do this.

  • NHS provide a great service but the plan is to cut it back and privatise as much as possible.
-NHS hospital beds have halved under this government because the beds are block booked by Private Medical organisations. Many GPs are going private too.

Sorry, going on a bit...but it does bother me.😟 Even day family day outs are a luxury now because it costs £££

Don’t let the bastards get you down!

I recently listened to Yeonmi Park’s interviews about her life in North Korea. I recommend it for perspective. Trust me, we are all okay here.

No we are not okay. That is like telling a person who is in shit up to their waist that they are okay because the shit could be up to their neck.

verdantverdure · 28/09/2022 18:03

This is the worst time I'm ever been alive.

MiniTheMinx · 28/09/2022 18:33

Yeah, its shit. So far we have had

Bedroom Tax pushing people to the brink of starvation, forcing people to move

Work fare which gave big companies free labour at cost to the tax payer (slavery underwritten by the state).

Introduction of PIP which denied over 150,000 people benefits

Benefit sanctions that have been unfairly applied to make people destitute

Put people into the so called WRAG.......and took their benefits away, this included people who were end of life and in no way able to work, let alone apply for and gain new jobs.

Welfare Reform Act 2012 which introduced Universal credit &

denied housing benefit to anyone under 21 years old

Reduced the benefit cap to punish "Scroungers"

Taken away child benefit

Presided over a massive increase in tuition fees and turned universities into private profit making entities that now pay their chancellors hundreds of thousands and cut their staff bills by offering zero hrs contracts to tutors.

Introduced new funding for schools that actually slashed spending on schools, cuts of 3 billion to education.

Cuts to legal aid.

Scrapping human rights act.

Making protest illegal.

Passed the Trade Union Act to try and make it difficult to strike, and then suggested they would actively support the hiring of workers who would work temp contracts, to undermine the strike action.

Failed to invest in any social housing

Offered up housing costing 450,000 plus as "affordable" to whom?

Taken away free school meals, denied support to children over the holidays who might not have food.

Presided over the scheme to make people and communities independent and using the rise in food banks as a measure of this "success"

Iain Duncan Smith erased the term "Child poverty" from the Child poverty act!

Brought measures in to make it difficult to train enough doctors and nurses, whilst sending doctors and nurses home....bcos yeah we don;t need em!

Tax cuts for their mates, government contracts for their mates.....

They were in talks with American Health insurance companies before 2010, they have slashed funding to the NHS, auctioned off bits of it, denied it of staffing, and then.......well we all know even MN is full of Tory bots telling us what a huge waste of money the NHS is.

Parties, lies, corruption

They have murdered hundreds of thousands of people through their benefits bashing policies, through hubris and arrogance, and total incompetence. Now more still when they can't afford to eat or heat their homes.

They have trashed the pound. At this rate we will be "Greece"

We now have a mad woman who thinks she is the resurrection of Maggie, who just like Maggie thinks that the lovely rich people will spend their money to make it all better for the rest of us. Maggie was wrong. Over 30 years of stagnating wages, falling productivity, rising child poverty.

I don't know if I am more angry with the Tory's all more angry at the idiots who voting for them.

verdantverdure · 28/09/2022 19:04

Conservative voters must be absolute mugs if the government think they can collapse pension funds, triple mortgage payments, and crash the housing market and Conservative voters will still vote for them.

vinetbrie · 28/09/2022 19:06

"I can't leave the UK but I would probably look at Spain or France if I had the option/money."

You can't live in Europe for more than 90 out of any 180 days because this hard Brexit - loving Tory government refused to agree to an EU proposal to allow free movement of people within Europe. That's why you wait for ages to get your passport stamped.
Lots of empty supermarket shelves in Tesco, Sainsburys and Aldi. Lorries waiting forty hours to get into Kent doesn't help.
A Government that simply doesn't care for huge numbers of the population.

LadyKenya · 28/09/2022 19:36

lollipoprainbow · 28/09/2022 10:38

@Kentgirl2525 I agree with everything you're saying but it won't be long before you're accused of being racist......

Yeah cuz the "illegal immigrants" are all black or brown innit?Hmm

Nhytfdetykbcz · 28/09/2022 19:50

Why don't we all just turn off our social media?

Nidan2Sandan · 28/09/2022 20:02

We spent a decade barely surviving financially, it was a miracle we managed to keep our home.

Finally things got better, our income doubled, we bought a beautiful house, we were planning our very first holiday in almost 20 years (my kids have never been away and my eldest is 13) then covid hit, after that it's been one thing after another.

Now our mortgage is about to skyrocket and we'll be back to fighting to keep a roof over our head. Feels like we never catch a break.

verdantverdure · 28/09/2022 21:52

Nhytfdetykbcz · 28/09/2022 19:50

Why don't we all just turn off our social media?

Sure, that will stop the U.K. government from crashing the U.K. economy, the water companies from pumping shit into our seas and rivers and the energy companies from charging us more than twice what they charged us last year.

Fordian · 28/09/2022 22:11

Canoewoman · 28/09/2022 07:41

Couldn’t agree more Op.I’d encourage anyone who can do so to emigrate.
Feel so sorry for young people starting out.
This is truly a shit country to live in. We are retiring abroad!

Out of interest, where?

shadypines · 28/09/2022 22:53

Instead of governments endlessly going round in circles re tax, interests rates, blah blah bloody blah. ...why not apply some common sense and slap more tax on luxury spends?
NEWS FLASH people do not need 6 fucking holidays abroad a year and yet I know quite a few with this lifestyle. Neither does anyone need umpteen cars and houses. All this stuff should be properly taxed. It might also go some way to creating a less wasteful society.
Also pots of money wasted on useless managers in both NHS and education sector, have worked in both and witnessed it. It's criminal.
But to answer your question yes I am fucked off to the far side of fuck with the endless crap in the news.

WatchoRulo · 29/09/2022 09:50

tentinginmarch · 28/09/2022 13:07

Also... for those complaining about roadworks - isn't that what you want your money to be spent on?!? Improving road quality? I know it's a pain but seriously?

Most roadworks around here make the road surface even more fucked, and if not repairing pipes etc, they are to install something to make your journey slower and more difficult, like yet another set of traffic lights or deliberate narrowing the road to make more congestion to punish us for having a car.

Bettyboo12 · 29/09/2022 21:46

I honestly only thought it was my city that had an issue with road works. It is a minor thing in comparison to things but it is added stress before I even get to work!

Non UK mumsnetter here. Why are the supermarket shelves half empty? I keep half an eye on UK news but it’s hard to keep up. Is it as bad as during Covid?“

no, but lots of gaps. was listening to the head of a large grocers on the radio recently. Lots of problems but the exchange rate is a huge issue for importers atm so some have just stopped.
