Well, we all know the IMF are part of thr lefty plot against Trussonomics.
What do they know about anything?

Splitters!!!!

DuncinToffee · 27/09/2022 20:50

💥WOWZERS. Professor @D_Blanchflower, does not hold back on the budget.

"You're the Chancellor and what you've done is you've stood up and crashed the markets... you've created a giant recession, your credibility is trashed. I have never seen such raging incompetence." ~AA

But would an expert know.......

Blossomtoes · 27/09/2022 21:07

Wow. “I have never seen such raging incompetence ever”. Wtf do the pair of them do now?

Surely we have to have a general election?

DuncinToffee · 27/09/2022 21:11

There was a call briefing on the economic situation today

I asked a Tory Mp to let me know what was happening on the Kwasi Kwarteng call and they replied: “I’m barely listening. Contemplating my next career while trying to fix my mortgage…”

Ouch 😬

Howe the new job going, Liz?

hmm yeah

Cornettoninja · 27/09/2022 21:33

Is there anyone/anywhere saying that they’re doing a sterling job? I’m not seeing much defence… even fantasy defences!

Its quite sad really isn't it that all the Boris fans seem to have quit this parish.

Elsewhere it's been suggested that Truss is simply "bold", this is just the first stage in a much bigger process and there would obviously be pain but we just need to get over it.

And if you have concerns after that you you must be an idler (euphemism) & member of momentum.

Blossomtoes · 27/09/2022 21:41

I haven’t seen our alliterative friend for ages. I hope she’s all right.

Thanks for the petition link. Duly signed.

It'll take 50 years to see the "benefits" of brexshit.
Jacob the haunted pencil Rees mogg said so.
Enjoy folks!

Well I guess time is the only thing we have left to waste. 😬

Well - they are certainly doing some kind of job involving sterling.

And I'm not sure it's a good one!

Notonthestairs · 27/09/2022 22:25

🚨NEW🚨
If govt doesn't reverse its fiscal plans, it may have little option but to cut public spending so enormously it could result in the end of the NHS, acc to Charlie Bean, one of UK's leading economists, of the @OBR_UK & @bankofengland

twitter.com/edconwaysky/status/1574867846462685190?s=46&t=bzFrHdfxhRDn17lfJ4zVqw

Well, maybe their plan is emerging. Essentially they'd need to cut £50bn from public spending.

Downnotdown · 27/09/2022 22:36

It seems to me that the only thing that Truss has said for a very long that has been accurate was that she was prepared to be unpopular. You got that one right Liz 😠

the80sweregreat · 28/09/2022 06:52

I heard today that the IMF has advised the government to reverse the tax cuts.
I wonder what today will bring ?

itsgettingweird · 28/09/2022 07:34

Just watched Sir Starmer on GMB.

I'm becoming more and more impressed with him.

He's clear, firm, decisive and most of all honest.

I feel he's someone who can trust.

And I'm someone who's centric and swing left and right dependent on manifestos over the years.

I just don't see how people can say Labour don't have clear policies.

I would have agreed a year ago. His policies were there but drowned out by pandemic stuff and Johnson's bluster.

I also have said until a few months ago that Tory's have to go but I didn't think the opposition were putting themselves out there but rather waiting in the wings to take over.

Today - I'm saying I'm impressed by him and will vote Labour if him or Rachel Reeves were Labour leader.

Spot on.
It has been very clear this week that the party who is ready to govern the country have been having their conference and a grown up discussion of the challenges that face the country.

Notonthestairs · 28/09/2022 07:42

"I just don't see how people can say Labour don't have clear policies. "

People will still claim this. It's absolute nonsense but they will stridently assert there are no policies.

Meanwhile Redwood and Lilico are claiming the IMF are full of lefties and only like traditional economic thinking.

DuncinToffee · 28/09/2022 08:32

Namecalling and whataboutery is all they have left.

DuncinToffee · 28/09/2022 08:43

Labour has no policies, there is no credible opposition are soundbites, just like the but Corbyn and knowing what a woman is.

It's easy to repeat and requires no critical thinking.

Notonthestairs · 28/09/2022 08:44

Hannan is claiming the markets are collapsing because Starmer are doing well. It's utter drivel.

I am genuinely shocked Truss hasnt been out and about trying to talk up her budget and to draw some attention from the Labour conference. They've disappeared in to a hole.

DuncinToffee · 28/09/2022 08:50

This is what Hannan said

No, the pound isn’t crashing over a trifling batch of tax cuts. It’s because the markets are terrified of Keir Starmer

Notonthestairs · 28/09/2022 08:55

I thought they should cancel the conferences and crack on. Now I am very grateful that we've had the chance to see Labour in action - disciplined, rational, honest about what they will need to keep in order to sort out the mess and forward thinking - and I am quite looking forward to the Conservatives one!
