Is this showing off?

I’m lucky enough to have several pairs of Louboutin shoes, mainly plain pumps, that I’ve had for several years. I hardly ever wear them, partly because I worry that it might be seen as me being flashy or showing off.
I was going to wear a pair last night when we went to a local gastropub (we rarely go anywhere posh and pricey), but changed my mind just before we left.
Should I just think it’s not showy off to wear them or just leave them in the wardrobe or, sell them as I wear them so rarely?

I love shoes and was actually cooing over these Louboutins earlier today.

Wear them & enjoy, like everyone has said people won't notice and if they do what does it matter!

Is this showing off?

WTF? 😂😂

You can't seriously think wherever you go that A.) People are staring at your feet or B.) Anyone would even know what brand they are?

Catch yourself on 😅

I would be doing both those things ...😳
Louboutins have a very distinctive red sole.
Wear them OP. They're just shoes. Enjoy them!

No its not showing off. I wear my Lv bags and my chanel bags everywhere. Even when i drop my kids to school. Its not for showing off. I dont even think that. I just like my bags and use whatever bag that day to match my outfit. And most of my bags are designers.

its your shoes just wear it.

You could only consider it "showing off" if you honestly believe people are in some way impressed by your shoes. Truth is, most people wouldn't even notice and if they did wouldn't have a care about the make of your shoes.

I think you're placing a load of importance on something very unimportant.

(Yes I could afford them if I chose to).

EllietheElephanti · 25/09/2022 21:51

Wear them and actually I would say you're putting a lot of importance on what you think other people think and maybe thinking they care more about this sort of thing than they actually would

tyyger · 25/09/2022 21:54

To me, Louboutins are very wannabe. I live in a very affluent area (I'm not) and have never seen a pair here, but I'd expect to see them more up north, they make me think of Liverpool WAGs.

Tbf this is a particular style of Louboutin which is dated. But they sell more than 1 style & some are lovely.

OP if you like them wear them, no point in them languishing in your wardrobe.

tyyger · 25/09/2022 21:56

Are these like the shoes that sex in the city women wore (can't remember the name ) they got stolen at her friends ?

Those were Manolo's, I have the exact pair (sorry for showing off!)

No. Its wearing your shoes. I wear my shoes all the time.

😂This!

OP, you're overthinking it. As long as you don't randomly mention your shoes, no one will think twice about it.

I don't own designer shoes, I don't care for them, so if I saw your shoes, I wouldn't even know they were designer. So you're fine.

The problem with wearing Louboutins and other high end shoe manufacturers is that the person who owns them actually wants others to notice.
I think the OP actually wants people to notice that she's wearing them but is displaying the faux ' what, moi' attitude.

If you own Louboutins and enjoy wearing them then you'd just wear them and nobody would know.

I've worn Dior , about thirty years ago. Because I loved it. It never occurred to me that anyone would notice. No one did, I couldn't have cared less. I wore it because I loved it.

I suspect that OP is wanting people to notice... and that's really crass.

Trust me when I say I haven’t worn them so that other people will notice them, it’s because I find them comfortable and they went with a lot of clothes that wore when we used to go to posh ‘do’s’. As we no longer go to these ‘do’s, maybe I felt they were a bit showy offy when we’re just going to the pub or dinner in a local restaurant. That said, I suppose I could argue that they finish off an outfit, a bit like you wearing Dior probably felt.
Despite the less than complimentary comments, I will wear my shoes more often but I might look to sell a couple of pairs that I just can’t walk in anymore 😂
