Is this showing off?

I’m lucky enough to have several pairs of Louboutin shoes, mainly plain pumps, that I’ve had for several years. I hardly ever wear them, partly because I worry that it might be seen as me being flashy or showing off.
I was going to wear a pair last night when we went to a local gastropub (we rarely go anywhere posh and pricey), but changed my mind just before we left.
Should I just think it’s not showy off to wear them or just leave them in the wardrobe or, sell them as I wear them so rarely?

I don't know what Louboutins look like and in general don't walk around examining people's shoes. So, no I wouldn't think you were showing off. You should wear & enjoy them - show off to yourself, as it were.

catandcoffee · 25/09/2022 16:51

Are these like the shoes that sex in the city women wore (can't remember the name ) they got stolen at her friends ?

Squirrelsquirrel · 25/09/2022 16:51

Genuine question: why did you buy them if you are too worried to wear them?

To answer your question, I really don't think people would notice and even if they did, I really doubt they'd care.

Loving the "I almost wore my loobies to a gastropub" rather than saying "I almost wore posh shoes for a pub dinner". 😂

Just re-read my big about a pub dinner. Sorry if it came accross as mean.

I've just had a look and would like to know why people spend £800 on shoes you could buy for £4 in Primark and just paint the sole red on.

I’ve never seen Lubutons for sale in Primark. I’d be heading right down there if I wasn’t boycotting the place.

girlmom21 · 25/09/2022 16:59

@TwoWrightFeet look at these... you can definitely get these without the brand name and red sole in Primarni

Is this showing off?
Thestagshead · 25/09/2022 17:00

You dont need to paint them, you can buy red soles to stick on from Amazon

user1487194234 · 25/09/2022 17:04

I have 2 pairs my DH bought me
1 pair are pumps which I wear all the time, don’t give a fuck what anyone thinks
The other pair are definitely can to bar, very high, mainly for posh nights out (or the occasional night in🙈😊)
Wear and enjoy your shoes

Flangelasashes · 25/09/2022 17:16

I would never notice what shoes you were wearing and I wouldn't know real Louboutin if one was wedged between my arse cheeks. Lots of shoes have red soles, wear the bloody things.

PinkSyCo · 25/09/2022 17:18

Huh? Isn’t the whole point of Louboutin‘s to be flash. If not, why not just get cheaper shoes? Honestly I doubt anyone will even notice what you’re wearing on your feet, but if you’re going to be self conscious about it just sell them. 🤷🏻‍♀️

wherearebeefandonioncrisps · 25/09/2022 17:25

I'm going to add that Louboutins ( probably not spelled right) are worn to be SEEN!!!
I suspect, given how many you have, you want to be seen in them.

tea1tea2 · 25/09/2022 17:28

i got handsome husband, I also cant take him out with me just in case people start talking

waterlego · 25/09/2022 18:30

That’s nothing @tea1tea2, I’m actually really good-looking myself, so much so that I avoid leaving the house altogether because everyone just thinks I’m showing off.

averageavocado · 25/09/2022 18:33

I dont always know what shoes I'm wearing without looking* *

EdHelpPls · 25/09/2022 15:58

I wouldn't notice. My mum was here for an hour earlier and I've no i

I was expecting you to say that you had no idea she was thereSmile.

YesitsBess · 25/09/2022 18:42

Are you wearing them on your head OP? That might be the issue.

gretr · 25/09/2022 18:46

NCFT0922 · 25/09/2022 15:56

Not showy off at all. Hate to sound like a nob but Louboutins are very 00s. I certainly wouldn’t think you’d make anyone jealous wearing plain Loub pumps in 2022 to the pub. My 18yo niece loves them but I don’t know anyone over the age of 21 who would be that bothered by them now.

Yes, I agree with this, they seem a bit dated now.

dudsville · 25/09/2022 18:47

Harsh responses.

Some people will notice your shoes. And some of those will be critical, others envious, others still appreciative. You can't avoid other people noticing you and thinking critically of you. This happens all the time, but 99% of people keep their varied thoughts to themselves. If you like your shoes then wear them. If you can't bear the thought then just look at them, or sell them, it doesn't matter either way. Court only the opinions of those who matter most to you.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 25/09/2022 18:56

I make shoe contact before eye contact with people Smile so I would notice (and admire, I love them). I don't understand the mentality of saving things "for best" - if you like something and enjoy wearing it (clothes/shoes/jewellery/bags etc) wear it whenever you want, and get pleasure from it.

@TugboatAnnie They go higher than that!

@catandcoffee IIRC they were Manolo Blahniks.

iklboo · 25/09/2022 19:00

I wouldn't know if they were Laboutins or Lelly Kelly 😂. I'm deeply unfashionable.

You would because Lelly Kelly are the cutest shoes. Their advert says so.

Mrsjayy · 25/09/2022 19:04

Why wouldn't you wear your .shoes whats the point of buying them if you won't wear them? Tbh I have no clue about shoes so I wouldn't know their worth, I don't think people really notice or care much much what someone has on their feet.

wherearebeefandonioncrisps · 25/09/2022 19:04

The problem with wearing Louboutins and other high end shoe manufacturers is that the person who owns them actually wants others to notice.
I think the OP actually wants people to notice that she's wearing them but is displaying the faux ' what, moi' attitude.

If you own Louboutins and enjoy wearing them then you'd just wear them and nobody would know.

I've worn Dior , about thirty years ago. Because I loved it. It never occurred to me that anyone would notice. No one did, I couldn't have cared less. I wore it because I loved it.

I suspect that OP is wanting people to notice... and that's really crass.

DeadDonkey · 25/09/2022 19:06

nomistake · 25/09/2022 15:51

That's the point of the red sole, to let everyone know they're Louboutins. Why buy them if you feel self conscious wearing them.

That would mean nothing to me - just a pair of shoe.
