Address is expected but delayed. No idea why. What will he announce? Mobilisation?? Referenda?

OP posts:
DancingBudgie · 20/09/2022 19:27

A few days ago there was talk that he was going to officially declare war on Ukraine. It could be that.

Igotjelly · 20/09/2022 19:30

Suspect he’ll announce the sham “referendums” and potentially general mobilisation and a move to a war economy.

Frankly though it’s all semantics. It would however allow Putin more cannon fodder to throw at Ukraine.

Igotjelly · 20/09/2022 19:31

That of course is if he bothers to address the nation at all. Lots of speculation he’s simply trolling the UN.

DutchessOfMuck · 20/09/2022 19:35

Is Putin speaking tonight?

SquirrelSoShiny · 20/09/2022 19:38

'Dear World, I've had a come to Jesus moment and realised I'm turning into a low budget Dr Evil with retro toys. My bad. Soz.'

A girl can dream...

Meklk · 20/09/2022 19:58

Probably mobilisation... Where did you see these news, I can't find anything?

Igotjelly · 20/09/2022 19:59

Sky News have a live stream waiting for him to speak. Was meant to be at 6pm UK time.

DutchessOfMuck · 20/09/2022 20:00

Put Sky on and waiting on him coming out.

Igotjelly · 20/09/2022 20:27

sky announcing that the address will take place tomorrow. Wonder what’s going on behind the scenes….

Meklk · 20/09/2022 21:00

It's really strange that it's postponed. They are waiting for something.

Meklk · 20/09/2022 21:04

There are some rumours that Putin wanted to postpone it because of time difference in some of the countries.Hmmm, that's interesting, going to read some articles from Eastern Europe websites , usually there are more details.

generalh · 20/09/2022 21:05

Conscription?

PaperTyger · 20/09/2022 21:05

Oh lord it's so worrying.

They always said he had more to throw at Ukraine ( not nukes) and perhaps this will be it.
One hope's people are trying to bring him to the lord sooner.

Chakraleaf · 20/09/2022 21:07

Any news yet?

PleaseGoDontGoAgain · 20/09/2022 21:31

Nothing till tomorrow. From Sky..
Sergei Markov, a Russian political scientist who is a former close advisor to Vladimir Putin, says the president's national address has been delayed until tomorrow.
He announced the news on his official Telegram channel.
This would appear to have been confirmed by a statement posted by the editor of Russian state media news outlet RT, Margarita Simonyan, who simply wrote "go to sleep" on Telegram.
We'll bring you more on this as we get it.

crochetmonkey74 · 20/09/2022 21:33

God. Does anyone else feel like they just can't cope with anything else?
I can't cope with the media project fear anymore but I don't know how to stop feeling worried

generalh · 20/09/2022 21:05

Conscription?

Oh my, I must be so tired, I read that to say constipation first time and thought wfh😂

Workinghardeveryday · 20/09/2022 22:10

i am worried too. Please explain in real terms what he could be about to announce! Nukes? War on Ukrainian, war on nato? What?! Thanks

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 20/09/2022 22:14

The delays are probably just another example of his habitual lateness as a form of power play.

I don't think so. It's all about mobilisation I believe. My friend has some family in Russia, they are all scared, they think they'll call every single men (of course not the sons of oligarchs) to fight. You can't say no, you can't take sick note or pretend you are the only person who works in family with 5 kids. They don't give a shit, you'll go to fight....

PleaseGoDontGoAgain · 20/09/2022 22:20

Today they've approved long prison sentences for Russian soldiers who voluntarily surrender. I'm surprised it hasn't had more press it's quite telling of how things are going for them.

@Meklk how absolutely horrible.

Those poor men and their families.

When will he stop!!

It's already horrible there..... You need to think what you say, what you do. You never know who can report you for "government".... People are scared to chat with neighbours, especially if someone's son/husband /brother is fighting. Most of the Russians are against war but they must pretend they support it. To save their lives....

RaRaRaspoutine · 20/09/2022 22:24

Agree it’s most probably conscription. Feeling for the ordinary Russian men who are going to be sacrificed. Both sides losing fathers, sons, brothers (and of course Ukrainians losing absolutely everything) because some twat thinks he can redirect history.

He'll stop when his people find the courage to turn on him. Because they're just cannon fodder to him. They have a choice to rise up against him and refuse. He can't arrest them all.

He's playing chicken at home now too, not just with the West. It's time for people in Russia to decide they're not blinking.
