Address is expected but delayed. No idea why. What will he announce? Mobilisation?? Referenda?

something sh*t as always... dreading it.

Wasn’t he’s last public threat that he is going to nuke the UK in Autumn with the ‘big one’. Then he went quiet and now I’ve just seen this :/ I was actually saying to my partner a few days ago he’s gone very quiet since he’s last threat which is worrying for a man like him ...

Oh my, I must be so tired, I read that to say constipation first time and thought wfh😂

Definitely tired, unless it really made you think Working From Home rather than wtf 😂

😂🤣, omg!! I didn’t even notice 😬. Bedtime for me I think…

MagicFox · 20/09/2022 22:33

It's about the referenda. Annexing territory and then declaring an attack on that territory an attack on Russia. This justified further escalation ie horrible sabre rattling. Not looking forward to hearing it. Speech should be 7am UK time. It's been pre-recorded

I was thinking this the other day too as I was super paranoid about it before.

Does anyone think it could be this?

RaRaRaspoutine · 20/09/2022 22:34

A good article for anyone interested samf.substack.com/p/going-nuclear

MagicFox · 20/09/2022 22:36

That threat was made by Russian propagandists on tv, not directly by putin himself

RaRaRaspoutine · 20/09/2022 22:39

@Workinghardeveryday @Sasha818 no because a single attack would be pointless in terms of war. They would not send a single missile only to get all of the west’s weapons slung back at them - the cost is not worth it. With big nuclear powers it’s all or nothing (known as MAD). If you read Stanislav Petrov’s story it explains it better. Far more likely would be an unannounced tactical nuclear weapon over the Black Sea or something like that to frighten Ukraine into line. I’m not a war tactician, however.

so short answer - no it wouldn’t be that.

Workinghardeveryday · 20/09/2022 22:42

@RaRaRaspoutine thank you for explaining that.

I may sleep tonight!!

The man needs to be stopped!

You’re welcome :) one of my hobbies is reading about how wars are fought (nerd) but I’m not an expert. I hate the idea of people worrying about something like this though! I do recommend Ukrainecast for a lot of good background on the war.

Workinghardeveryday · 20/09/2022 22:47

@RaRaRaspoutine that sounds like a very interesting topic to be into.

I will give it a look tomorrow, thank you 😊

Russia's War Losses were catastrophic in WW2.
Russia lost FAR more men than any other Country.
Terrifying amount of men lost.
They were our allies then.

Such a shame that War continues.

Always the citizens who suffer, never the War~mongers.

Booklover3 · 20/09/2022 23:27

Whatever it is I doubt it will be good news.

tobee · 20/09/2022 23:54

Of course it's the between the lines where lies the interest.

If I’m honest that’s why I’ve posted on here… to see what everyone else thinks reading between the lines when it’s announced.

Finally spoken - aim of the military operation remains the same (to ‘liberate’ Donbas). Partial mobilisation declared, not sure how that differs to full mobilisation. Anyone know?

Igotjelly · 21/09/2022 07:12

Still no formal declaration of war though. I think the language is interesting.

Meklk · 21/09/2022 07:14

"partial mobilisation" - it's full mobilisation. They know very well that people will start to run away to save their families. That's why they call it "partial".

MagicFox · 21/09/2022 07:15

Partial = only those in reserves or with prior military experience in some form will be conscripted

Because almost every single men in Russia was in army after school :) So almost every single one HAS experience and is trained. I'm really surprised people still think there are any kind of laws in Russia.

No I think he’s been quite careful not to make it full mobilisation because that would be so unpopular in Russia.

I wonder if the address is different to what is might have been last night.

@Meklk
So what you are saying is...Every male over age of 17/18 {?} has done National Service, so therefore all men of fighting age will be conscripted?
That's bad.
It's not ''Their war''.

MagicFox · 21/09/2022 07:32

I wouldn't put that past Putin but it will be deeply deeply unpopular. And ergo, so will he

If I understand what @Meklk is saying, ALL men of fighting age have done Military service, so all of fighting age will be called upon to fight a war.

:(

Igotjelly · 21/09/2022 07:46

Experts seems to think it refers more the extending military contracts indefinitely for serving personnel and quote ‘reservists’ as numbering about 2million.

Shoigu now talking about what it actually means. Only those with specific military experience.
