I've been glued to this. So magnificent and solemn.

Oblomov22 · 19/09/2022 15:40

Thank you OP.

rocketfromthecrypt · 19/09/2022 15:41

I think this is exactly what the Queen would have wanted. Nothing outlandish, very traditional, all done seamlessly.

Knittingmonster · 19/09/2022 15:41

Did anyone hear that knobber who decided to do a cheer. Git shut down pretty quickly.

alittleadvicepls · 19/09/2022 15:42

I wonder why the horses are so agitated? I thought they were trained for big crowds and loud noises? Makes me nervous watching them!

itsgettingweird · 19/09/2022 15:42

I'm loving the tradition.

And those horses are coping admirably with those gunshots going off!

I think they're probably restless. They are so slow.

TokyoSushi · 19/09/2022 15:43

I'm not sure how they're managing to drive that hearse so slowly without stalling it. Maybe it's automatic and they're just letting it glide along!

Loveholidaystoomuch · 19/09/2022 15:43

I’ve never really understood what a lady in waiting is. If it’s an older person what do they actually do?

Singleandproud · 19/09/2022 15:44

The horses are desensitised but they can't have the crowd replicated, I wonder if they are uncomfortable as they are surrounded on all sideswith nowhere to go.

Notaboutthebass · 19/09/2022 15:44

@alittleadvicepls probably claustrophobic.

Singleandproud · 19/09/2022 15:45

I think ladies-in-waiting are normally her peers, other aristocrats / debutantes that I suppose are her closer friends helping with dressing and other chores and keeping her company.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 19/09/2022 15:45

Which funeral march is it that 5 been played in the processions (today and Tuesday)?

I've tried googling, the BBC and can't find an answer.

Knittingmonster · 19/09/2022 15:45

And I think having to go slow isn’t helping the horses. They’ll have been tightly controlled for a long time and probably getting fidgety

ShirleyJackson · 19/09/2022 15:46

I think they’re like PAs. Just stick around and make the Queen’s life easier. Wear her shoes in, get her jewels out, kind of thing. I think.

heldinadream · 19/09/2022 15:46

Thank you OP. What a momentous and moving day. I hope we can keep these threads; I'd like to read them at leisure.
Really they should go into classics. They are a lovely 'alternative commentary' on the day. The Mumsnet commentary. 💗

Loveholidaystoomuch · 19/09/2022 15:46

@Singleandproud thanks, sounds like a lovely job!

They’re bored and annoyed with being made to walk so slowly

GeorgeorRuth · 19/09/2022 15:47

I'm finding the rocking motion of the procession quite mesmerising and soothing.

Oh they’ve got the Fell pony out 😥

Jellykat · 19/09/2022 15:47

Aw her pony, thats so sweet!

alittleadvicepls · 19/09/2022 15:47

@Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious oh of course! I can’t quite grasp how slow they’re really going on tv. The riders are doing a fab job keeping them under control!

Zoom101 · 19/09/2022 15:47

The Queen’s pony! 😭😭😭

MrsTimRiggins · 19/09/2022 15:47

Oh my goodness I thought I was done feeling teary but that gentleman stood holding her horse 😭
