Can you remember where you went on honeymoon?

Because I can't. Granted it was almost 20 years ago but I have no memory of where we stayed (but I know it was Cornwall). It's freaked me out a bit. Someone asked me about it and it seems to have been wiped from my memory...

Egypt. 1995. DH tried to swap me for a camel.

Ha! My parents tried to do this with me when I was about 6

soundsofthesixties · 13/09/2022 13:22

Isle of Wight 1967.

Hospital! I was working an 80 hour continuous shift as a resident junior doctor, back in 1981. Was allowed 24 hours off to get married, then straight back on duty.

We had a wonderful sort of belated honeymoon a few years later - after attending a relative’s wedding in Holland at tulip time, we wandered off in our flower filled car round Germany, including a horse drawn carriage ride up to Neuschwanstein castle in Bavaria, a boat trip to the flower island of Mainau in Lake Constance, and nights in two mediaeval castle hotels, one high above the Rhine, and one above the Neckar, where we slept in the Falcon’s nest room in the top turret. Plus a night in Goethe’s bed in Kochem on the Mosel, before wine tasting, and a walk in the Black Forest, while eating Black forest gateau!

It was obviously not that memorable OP! 😂

whoruntheworldgirls · 13/09/2022 13:32

Yep La Reunion and Mauritius, was amazing

Delabruche · 13/09/2022 13:32

Mine was in Berlin but I have no memory of which hotel/area - is that what you mean? Obviously you remember it was in Cornwall!
Exactly. I can't remember the exact area and have no memory of whether it was a hotel or B & B. Weird. I can remember other places we stayed before the wedding so maybe it was the pregnancy hormones that induced amnesia!

Yes clear memories, and we visited 3 states. I could find the hotels if you dropped me off in the vicinity.

FunnysInLaJardin · 13/09/2022 13:56

Yes, we went to Padstow for 3 days 24 years ago

LesOliviers · 13/09/2022 14:02

Croatia. Had an argument the first night, outside in the pouring rain, but we made up quickly and had a lovely week

bruffin · 13/09/2022 14:05

3 weeks in Sri Lanka and the Maldives 31 years ago and amazing

Blueuggboots · 13/09/2022 14:07

Alikes in Zante.
My new husband complained the whole time that 2 weeks was too long, there were locals racing motorbikes round the salt flats every night and someone parked a donkey outside our apartment every night.
Should have seen the warning signs then!!!

Pootle40 · 13/09/2022 14:07

Reethi beach, Maldives.

Longdistance · 13/09/2022 14:07

The Maldives to Meedhaparuu island. I think that’s how it’s spelt. Nearly 15 years ago.

FreezyFreezy · 13/09/2022 14:13

dh's work mate's caravan next Brid. 9 years ago, about 3 months after our wedding.

mydogisthebest · 13/09/2022 14:23

42 years ago and I can remember it clearly even though I have a terrible memory. It was my parents' caravan in the UK>

We had absolutely no money so could not afford anything else

JadeSeahorse · 13/09/2022 14:27

Yes!

Stayed the night of the wedding in the luxury hotel where our reception was held and then, next morning after breakfast, moved directly into our brand new house which we bought off plan and watched it being built during the months leading up to the wedding. (Living together before the wedding would definitely have been frowned upon and no money for a Honeymoon.)

Loved playing at being a new wife for a week before returning to work. It was so special starting our brand new life together the day after the wedding.

This was all 43 years ago though! 🤣

We are still blissfully together now but have travelled the world extensively and moved to a much larger - but brand new again - house since that time.

Delabruche · 13/09/2022 14:31

I can remember our wedding night (not in Cornwall) but mainly because I was disappointed that the hotel messed up and put my aunt and uncle in the bridal suite and they were asleep when we got back so we never did get to sleep there!

I didn’t get a honeymoon. So there’s nothing to remember. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Do you have photos from the honeymoon? Might jog your memory.

Grissini50 · 13/09/2022 15:18

Yes, we went to Java and Bali, travelled around and stayed in a few different hotels. I couldn't name them but I can remember them all very clearly. They were all quite distinctive in different ways. But it was only 11 years ago.

mindutopia · 13/09/2022 16:14

Yes, absolutely remember everything about our honeymoon, but literally Dh and I were at a wedding at the weekend and halfway through it, I remembered it’s our wedding anniversary this week. I’d completely forgotten the date. 😂

TheNoodlesIncident · 13/09/2022 16:20

I remember our honeymoon perfectly well, as we got married on a Greek island and stayed there for another week. However more recently I was looking out of our holiday apartment at the next door property and wondered aloud what it was like in that one. DH said "But we stayed there one year, don't you remember?" I don't at all Blush We have photos from all our holidays but that one I didn't take any inside the apartment (no idea why not, I usually do) so it's a complete blank! No hormones excuse either.

StellaOlivetti · 13/07/2023 16:49

Langkawi island, 30 years ago. It sounds exotic, but it was because we got married in Malaysia. I don’t remember much about it though.

bruffin · 13/07/2023 17:21

Two weeks in maldives gollowed by week touring Sri Lanka 32 years ago

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 13/07/2023 17:22

Paris, 1980, in a hotel on the Boulevard Edgar Quinet.

Butteredtoast55 · 13/07/2023 17:30

Gorgeously secluded cottage in Scotland, 35 years ago. When the tide came in we were cut off from the mainland. We went for long, chilly walks and spent the evenings cosied up in front of the fire, but there was also a haunted bedroom that freaked us out 😂
