What a woman, she is 72 years old !! I can’t believe how amazing she has been in the last few days.

I always knew she was the most hardworking royal , but this week she has been outstanding.

She's amazing. And I have to say I have been impressed by the sheer stamina of the Royals this week, especially Anne and Charles, who are (sorry I don't mean to offend) 'a little older.' (Both in their 70s.) I am 2 to 2.5 decades younger than them, and I would have been FUCKED by now! I'd need a month's sleep to recover. Anyone who says the Royals don't work hard for their money can fucking jog on.

Jadebanditchillipepper · 12/09/2022 22:54

She's better than all of the others put together (And I think the Queen realised that to some extent). She fully deserves her Princess Royal title and I love that she gave her children normal names (as indeed, they have done to their own children).

My only complaint about her is her habitual hairdo, which until very recently, made her look about 20 years older than she actually is

I hate her * apparently she can get into the made to measure dresses she wore when she was in her early twenties, and she has fabulous legs.

  • don’t really 🙂

Oh yes, she has always had a fabulous pair of pins.

Like many daughters it seems she was there this summer probably doing the grunt work of caring for her mum, whilst her other brothers relaxed.( Aside from Charles)

Theskyoutsideisblue · 12/09/2022 22:56

We are local to her. She gets the train with everyone else

Princess Anne didn’t give her children royal titles either. Just Zara and Mark Phillips.

Zara married a commoner (rugby player) who’s been done for drink driving previously.

Princess Anne's son is Peter.

TheFairyCaravan · 12/09/2022 22:58

My dad used to go to Gatcombe, in the seventies and eighties, to do the fire safety checks. If she was at home she’d always make a point of having a chat with him and his colleague. He loved going there because he’s very into horse racing, and we’d all go to the horse trials, so loved his conversations with her.

SuziLikeSuziQ · 12/09/2022 22:59

My mum received her MBE from Princess Anne last year. Mum was impressed Anne could speak well about my mum's fairly specific award field, asked pertinent questions, knew someone in the same field my mum knew and spoke to Mum at length. Apparently she did the same to the others ahead of Mum, that she could see while she waited. Not just mumbling some platitudes, but actually having a conversation at length, possibly to everyone there that day!

Whether she genuinely knew herself or learnt something about everyone so she could chat for 5 minutes I don't know, but I'm glad that as it couldn't be the Queen, it was Princess Anne out of all of them to present to my mum!

kateandme · 12/09/2022 23:05

I often get emotional when I see her! Because I just think she’s a complete badass.
To those saying she should get more attention as a royal doing great I think the general consensus is she is fab.but I think she is able(and knows it) to be the person she is,doing the real good work because she tried to stay behind the “royals eyes” and public, media on her. But that doesn’t take away from who she is or what she does.
i think she would go mad if queen or held more of a title because she wouldn’t be able to be her,and do all the work and life she wants to. She’d have the grit knocked out of her.

TwinkleToesStrikesAgain · 12/09/2022 23:07

She seems like a genuine good egg. No razzmatazz just hard work.

I am encouraged that Charles will have her for support and advice (I hope).

moonypadfootprongs · 12/09/2022 23:10

Anne is fab! Bumped into her (almost literally) at a horse trials a few years ago. It was pouring with rain and she was wearing a battered old green wax jacket and wellies!
Every time I have seen her at horse events she's been stuck in either helping with the horses or the grandchildren. She seems to have great relationships with all her grandchildren and they all live on the gatecombe estate.

Whokno · 12/09/2022 23:12

I'm also impressed that she's almost universally admired and respected despite having no patience whatsoever with the media. They can't pin anything on her because she's completely authentic.

KittenKins · 12/09/2022 23:13

She's the only royal I got to talk with at the queen's garden party, such a lovely lady, so hard working. I'm pleased to see a post about her

Justleaveitblankthen · 12/09/2022 23:19

Remember Prince Phillip talking about Anne's love of horses?
"If it doesn't fart or eat hay she isn't interested" 😂
Love her.

She comes across as very down to earth and funny (although also comes across as Not Tolerating Fools well!)

I love this interview she had with Parkinson about her kidnap attempt:

This is brilliant

So when Andrew was married to Fergie, if Andrew was in the room she would have had to curtsy to Sarah? I can’t see Ann doing that protocol or not!

The HRHs don't curtsy and bow to each other. That is a myth that arose from some misreporting about precedence, which has to do with who walks into a room first, etc.

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 12/09/2022 23:48

I have met Princess Anne several times, the last time she opened a new Carers centre and I loved the way she walked straight past all the dignitaries who’d lined themselves up at the entrance.
She is extremely knowledgeable, spent a lot of time chatting to the carers asking after their families and made an enormous impression on everyone there.
She stayed for much longer than scheduled too.
An amazing lady.

Lunde · 13/09/2022 00:06

I bloody loved her second wedding to Tim Lawrence - no fuss, no drama ... the Royals turned up in Land Rovers

MadeWithCare · 12/09/2022 21:32

The bodyguard did take three bullets for her, but obviously she's the hero of the day 😆

I read that the Queen paid off his mortgage as a thank you for potentially saving her daughter's life.

MadeWithCare · 12/09/2022 21:16

Inching Andrew had his rank removed, that's why he's not in uniform.

He had his Honorary titles removed but he is still a vice Admital as that’s the rank he earned. Anne is an Admiral, Andrew was due to be promoted to Admiral…that’s not happening.

VioletTopaz · 12/09/2022 21:06

@DogInATent
is that the case?
defo worth another mention then….

She out-ranks (militarily) both Andrew and Edward. Apparently it's something that rankles Andrew, so repeatedly mentioning it should be encouraged.

Is that so?Grin

Her carers centres saved my Dads life as my mum was due to snap and smother him. She went to the carers centre and they just sat with her and had a cup of tea. That sauce and talking to people who’d been there was so beneficial. They also got her some outside help (proper paid carers), she didn’t think she’d be entitled to help.

kind of irrelevant to this thread, but does anyone know if the Queen actually ever met Harry and Meghan’s two kids, Archie and Lilibet?

she was probably more likely to have met Archie but I’m not sure if she ever met either of them!

I remember watching her wedding to Mark Phillips. It was the first royal wedding I ever watched. We went to watch it at my granny's neighbour's house as she had a colour telly and we didn't.

I loved her dress.

I actually thought I’d posted this and forgotten all about it!

Her wedding is one of my earliest memories of watching something on TV, and like you we watched it with my grandparents as they had a colour TV while we only had black and white.

My husband competed in a mountain biking event on her estate several years ago, it was assumed that she’d just hired out part of her land for the weekend but it came to light that she’d actually been out helping the trail builders create the technical parts of the trails and she was on hand to present the prizes at the end.

Yes, the Queen met Harry and Meghan's children when they came for the Jubilee. Of course she already met Archie, but it was her first time meeting Lilibet.
