What a woman, she is 72 years old !! I can’t believe how amazing she has been in the last few days.

I always knew she was the most hardworking royal , but this week she has been outstanding.

I like her too, she visited one of my DC’s schools and dc got to meet her. I like her a lot more than Charles.

I'd heard rumours of their existence, but I'd never before seen one in the wild.👌

I saw one in a hat once, in Bury St Edmunds. I’m not entirely sure who this political statement was aimed at in a small Suffolk town mind you. I gave both him and the hat a wide berth, lest one of them should pull a gun or something.

Princess Anne is fab - a bit scary, but fab. She once turned up at the trade stand of the charity I worked for at Badminton -
all on her own, in her civvies and carrying a load of shopping bags. And started chatting to one of our most random staff members (honestly, I liked the guy but he really could say ANYTHING). I’m told the CEO did a most impressive teleport speed move to get over there before there was a crisis 😂

Wearing an outfit more than once is common sense, not recycling.

I too was struck by Princess Anne wearing trousers with her uniform yesterday, how long has she been doing that for?

She’s been doing it for many years. She wore trousers when she walked in the Queen Mother’s funeral procession.

I like Princess Anne a lot, but I have to say I do find it surprising that she’s so well liked on here despite being so unapologetic about her out of control dogs.

I can only imagine if one of the other royals added “dog bit children” and “dog attacked another dog so badly the other dog had to be put down” to their multiple affairs that their popularity would tank.

Deathraystare · 13/09/2022 07:59

I like her too and she does scrub up well! I reckon Philip liked her the best and often wished she had been born a boy!

VioletTopaz · 12/09/2022 21:06

@DogInATent
is that the case?
defo worth another mention then….

She out-ranks (militarily) both Andrew and Edward. Apparently it's something that rankles Andrew, so repeatedly mentioning it should be encouraged.

Actually Andrew has no military title anymore so he is outranked by all his siblings and probably both his nephews and maybe a few other random royals.

I was a child in the 1970s / 1980s and she seemed to spend half her time in Africa for 'Save the Children' or covered in mud on the back of a horse.

After the kidnap attempt Prince Philip was supposed to have said words to the effect of, "He didn't know what he was going to get himself in to" about the kidnapper.

I love Anne too

If there was a vote, I'd pick her.

My dad says the same.

And there's the irony!

He had his Honorary titles removed but he is still a vice Admital as that’s the rank he earned. Anne is an Admiral, Andrew was due to be promoted to Admiral…that’s not happening.

His rank in the service was Commander when he left the navy. Andrew's later bumps in rank, eventually to Vice Admiral, were granted by his mother.

HookyHug · 13/09/2022 08:14

Oh to have so little expected of you! Wear the same coat a few times and you're a hero.😂

WibbleBibble · 13/09/2022 08:17

I like Anne as well, but I do wonder how much of this she would have been able to do if she were the heir apparant. They have been very well trained (for the most part) for the roles they were destined for and I imagine she wouldn't have had as much time or ability to just rock up to places without security etc if she were the first born

Blowthemandown · 13/09/2022 08:31

@watcherintherye and @Nanalisa60 yes hitting Emlyn Hughes with her handbag on QOS is what I was going to mention - it’ll be on Youtube!

Roselilly36 · 13/09/2022 08:35

I have always admired Princess Anne, one of the most hard working royals, never has had a lot of press coverage, no idea why. I really like her, no nonsense attitude, always shows good humour, very likeable.

Yes, agree, natural selection perhaps keeping the numbers down. 🤣

🤣😂😂

Like many daughters it seems she was there this summer probably doing the grunt work of caring for her mum, whilst her other brothers relaxed.( Aside from Charles)

I suspect there might be staff at royal palaces to do the grunt work. If you mean she was there spending time with her mother then yes she did.

ilovesushi · 13/09/2022 08:48

She is fab! What a woman!

BuildersTeaMaker · 13/09/2022 08:54

mimbleandlittlemy · 12/09/2022 21:31

My mum had to do an evening with Anne at an awards event once and when the ladies withdrew for a loo break Anne said to my mother “always go when you can” which became a family motto. I have seen her at the Horse Trials at her house at Gatcombe and she just throws herself in, selling sausages, sort tickets, all sorts of things. She really gets on with it.

I believe that was queen Mary’s moto- Anne’s great grandmother …..always use a loo when offered. Maybe it’s in the early training for royal women . My own mum taught me it in 60/70s.

N0RKS · 13/09/2022 08:59

We adapted that from a nurse friend
”never refuse a bedpan””

cottonbrain49 · 13/09/2022 09:13

She's brilliant and would have made a fantastic Queen. I am sure she will continue to be a strong part of the King's plans.

I have met her twice, both very briefly. She was very charming, very laid back and a consummate professional.

Emotionalsupportviper · 13/09/2022 09:13

BudgetBlast · 12/09/2022 20:36

Unreal. That 6 hour drive alone was phenomenal. She really is the most suited to be monarch of all of the queens offspring. Still that isn’t how it goes I guess.

Totally agree with you.

She is down-to-earth, hardworking, discreet, and sensible. I have never seen her throw a hissy fit the way Charles does, and there is never a hint of scandal like Andrew. Edward has grown up better than I expected, too - but I think he chose a good wife, and she has kept him right.

She would have made an amazing Queen - but such is life.

NanaNelly · 13/09/2022 09:14

VioletTopaz · 12/09/2022 21:05

Ha, yes, she is fantastic.

And I love that she’s accompanying HMQ everywhere. She was with her at the end, and is now accompanying her on her final travels.

It so touching that she’s looking after her mum as long as she can. ❤️

Falling down a rabbit hole of photos of royals when younger now - how much does Prince George resemble young Prince Philip!?

And Prince Louis.

Rafferty10 · 13/09/2022 09:16

I am also a huge fan, she is incredibly hardworking, never seeks to be the centre of attention, seems to have a genuine interest in all her engagements....l think she will be a huge asset to King Charles.

This makes me love her even more.

I've always thought that it took great courage for Edward to realise that he wasn't cut out for the marines, so many plod on. Imagine having to go to his father and tell him.

Marine training has a 50-60% dropout rate. Good on Edward for deciding it wasn't for him.

moonlight1705 · 13/09/2022 09:19

I have never met Princess Anne but have an interesting story. My next door neighbour when growing up was Bernard Quinn who was convicted of stalking her in the 1990s. He sent 1000s of love letters after she had visited a mental health hospital when he was a patient and then became obsessed with her.

My mum had to deal with all the paparazzi outside our house trying to get photos and stories.

i think she was very kind about the whole situation but obviously wanted it all to stop.
