It was inevitable but in this I feel very sorry for his siblings and daughters.

Sorry if I'm restating the obvious here - no time to read full thread- but isn't the main disgrace here that a man got arrested for shouting at prince Andrew?

I wouldn't shout at a funeral procession either, but even if the heckler got 'time and place' wrong, this shouldn't be an arrestable offense in a democracy.

KitBumbleB · 12/09/2022 21:28

"disrespectful to the Queen"

No, its disrespectful to women and girls to have that vile smug shit parade through the streets.
The only time I want to see that man paraded through the street is on his way to the stocks.

MissingNashville · 12/09/2022 21:28

That tattoo. 😂

diddl · 12/09/2022 21:29

The arrogance that he thinks he'll be forgiven because his mother has died.

I know.

It's gobsmacking that anyone can be so clueless.

Laiste · 12/09/2022 21:29

It wasn't a funeral.

Just saying because so many posters keep saying even serial killers deserve x y z at their mother's funeral. It wasn't the funeral.

He had every right to be there.
They had every right to let him be there.
He got what he deserved.
Actually i think he got off lightly.

I'm really hoping that in the months to come we see KC and PW metaphorically shove PA to the back of a royal cupboard and lock the door.

Is it grounds for divorce?

Well it could be but the spouse seems happy enoght as they posted a little heart?

It is better than that Pooh Bear tattoo.

So the next time someone trying to lose weight is upset because a white van man shouts "fatty" at her whilst jogging, it's not harassment because it's true and it's free speech. Got it.

This is a false equivalence and you know it,

MyNameIsAngelicaSchuyler · 12/09/2022 17:22

He shouldn’t have walked with them. He’s odious and a criminal.

Regardless, it's his mother.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 12/09/2022 17:25

I think even odious sex offenders should be allowed to grieve their parents in peace.

He’s vile. But heckling him is worse.

Let him grieve privately.

I just get the feeling that he really thinks he can make a comeback to public life. He seems totally arrogant and I imagine very few people in his life have ever really told him what they think of him.

I watched a documentary on Epstein and, not just the fact of Andrew having sex with a trafficked girl, the mere fact that he counted Epstein as one of his friends and continued to do so even after he was convicted should be enough to ensure he never represents the RF ever again. That also doesn't take into account his dodgy dealings as trade ambassador.

Revolting man. I think there may have to be a rethink of his role in the vigil and funeral because I have a feeling there will be more hecklers in London.

No-one is saying he shouldn't be at the funeral but he doesn't have to be in the centre of the procession to the abbey.

Charles will need to be very careful. If he gets this wrong then the goodwill which he has experienced so far will dissipate very quickly.

Totally agree. Unless they’ve all had enough of being royal and are actually using Andrew as a lever to bring down the monarchy themselves? 🤔

Imagine if he tried that on Zara - reckon she would have lamped him one or just very discretely put his arm back whilst breaking his fingers.

The latter.

She knows the importance of "optics".

😁

Laiste · 12/09/2022 21:34

He was allowed to walk and he did walk.

I'm glad he walked with them and i'm glad he got heckled.

I hope he sticks his disgusting neck out again so more people can heckle him. He's got the brass balls to appear in public - I hope more people have the balls to shout out.

THEN perhaps we'll see the back of him finally.

It's a breach of the peace. Anyone heckling a funeral has a good chance of being arrested if there's a police officer in sight.

I think they have cracked down quite hard on any protest, including placards. It seems to me this must be considered a particularly volatile time. They will have wanted to avoid any escalation in a public place with crowds, and to discourage any protest.

Neverendingdust · 12/09/2022 21:36

Well done to whoever dragged that idiot out. Time and a place for accountability and this is not it.

Blossomtoes · 12/09/2022 21:36

It’s interesting that the pp who was actually there was under the impression that the police stepped in for the heckler’s protection. The man who pushed him to the ground looked set to give him a good kicking. I’d put money on him being quietly released without charge.

There’s no reason or justification for Andrew to make any more than two further appearances in public - the vigil in Westminster Abbey and the funeral. After that I expect him to be airbrushed from the royal family. Both Charles and William are well aware how damaging his presence is.

This a thousand times. In this day and age it is not ok for a child abuser to be shielded and avoid justice because he can pay to do so. I’m not a Royalist, but I respect the Queen’s dedication and the national feeling but he shouldn’t have shown his fucking face. He should be banged up.

Blossomtoes · 12/09/2022 21:41

There’s never been any suggestion that he’s a “child abuser”. He had sex with a trafficked woman who was over the age of consent. Obviously nobody who’s trafficked can consent. That’s bad enough, there’s no need to over egg it.

OneFrenchEgg · 12/09/2022 21:43

No love lost for him back in 2006. I'd forgotten Airmiles Andy

vile thread full of hysterical misinformation.

Contrary to those wishing to rewrite history and with seemingly no grasp of definition, he is not a paedophile. He slept with a 17 year old girl, and however distasteful we find that, it is not in the same league as paedophilia.

Secondly, his mother has died. Regardless of what people think, he has the right to grieve his mother, and his family have the right to all be together at this point.

The man who heckled was rightfully arrested. This isn’t freedom of speech, it’s twattery of the highest order.

Andrew has for the most part stepped out of the public eye. But he is the queen’s son and has the right to be with his mother’s procession in public.

Well as the mother of a 16 year old and 18 year old DDs he really isn’t that flippin far off.

If he’d done what he did to one of my DDs, I’d have been sorely tempted to kill him with my bare hands. The 17 year old had been trafficked and was extremely vulnerable. This is what makes it so so much worse.

Porcupineintherough · 12/09/2022 21:46

@Blossomtoes the word you're missing is "raped"

lemmein · 12/09/2022 18:25

That’s not the same. Surely you can see this?!

So it's not ok to heckle someone who simply procures young girls for sex, but ok to heckle if they murder their victims? Just curious where the line is Confused

That’s not what I said at all!

The legal definition of an adult is a person over the age of 18. Therefore, a 17 year old is a child in the eyes of the law 🤷🏻‍♀️

I accept 'paedophile' has a very specific meaning to pre-pubescent children but let's not start pretending a 17 year old is an adult just to excuse middle-aged men abusing them.

Have the police ever taken any action because someone was called fatty, from a distance in the street?

This is a good point. As a POC I've had racial abuse hurled at me in the street and not one person has intervened the way they have with this young man Rory shouting at Andrew. I once reported a young man to the police for calling me the P word, gave his address and everything and it was dismissed for 'lack of evidence' ie. police weren't interested. There was zero reason for me to lie and say on walking past this person's house I had been racially abused, and to make matters worse the boy was known to the police so they knew what I was saying was extremely likely.
