Is this what women over 45 look like?

I’m turning 44 later this month. Is this what I’ve got to look forward to a year from now. I’m particularly disturbed by the cane.

I think I'll print them both out and stick them to the fridge for inspiration. DH better get working on his abs whilst all I need to do is stick a flower in my hair and buy a cane.

Neverendingmindfuck · 05/09/2022 20:14

That totally explains all the berets we found when clearing mums things , despite none of us ever seeing her wearing one 🤣
I use a stick, mainly to keep me upright, but should I ever find a ripped partner my age it will have a dual purpose 😁

Well, there's clearly a couple of massive advantages to doing that particular walking regime.

Once you hit 60-65, even though your sartorial taste hasn't improved, you end up with a lovely stylish blonde bob and all the lines in your face have disappeared.

It's persuaded me. I'm getting onto it straight away.

jewishmum · 05/09/2022 20:26

Maybe she's blind and we've all been ableist or whatever term it is. I see a stripe on the cane, and those glasses.

And you get a free cat.

Having a really miserable day with pregnancy sickness and this has gave me my first laugh, thanks OP!

sheila47 · 05/09/2022 20:30

Cheer up please - I am 75 and it looks as if I am not worth even a picture - I must be dead.

TheClogLady · 05/09/2022 20:47

Hairy Berry! 🤣🤣🤣

LOL! 😂

It's a good programme though - you start out with a walking stick (45-50) - by the time you're 50-55, you've cast aside that stick and can manage to carry an empty shopping bag - a mere 5 years later that shopping bag can be filled - and a few years later you can also manage to carry a small dog!

Not many weight-bearing exercise programmes progress so impressively!

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 05/09/2022 21:01

My cat would be deeply unimpressed if I tried to walk along carrying him like that. Does this mean he’d be ok with it if I was 65+?

iklboo · 05/09/2022 21:02

Not quite sure why you need to ask this.

Because it's risible and this is a lighthearted thread.

BiscuitLover3678 · 05/09/2022 21:05

55-60 is funnier to me!

BarbaraofSeville · 05/09/2022 21:06

Well now I'm confused because my birth certificate tells me I'm 49 but I walk about 40 miles a week with no need for a cane or floral bed jacket.

But I have 11 cats (7 are fostered mum and kittens) which by their logic makes me about 103 which is how old I feel when I get up in the morning.

Hugasauras · 05/09/2022 17:28

Did you see the men one?!?! I wonder who designed that graphic 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

Wow!

BiscuitLover3678 · 05/09/2022 21:07

Also I don’t want to be ‘that person’ but they are all very white

Cassie124 · 05/09/2022 21:11

The 55-60 looks suspiciously like my grandmother (who is 97).

pollyglot · 05/09/2022 21:12

I'm 72 and wear shorts and tees in the garden, where I do a daily 3-hour workout digging, hoeing, weeding, spraying.

okytdvhuoo · 05/09/2022 21:22

Hehe with a 6 minute warm up to prepare for a 10 minute walk 😂😂😂

DWMoosmum · 05/09/2022 21:22

Nope. I'm 52. I often get second looks when people find out how old I am. I still wear what I did when I was younger. I'm still the same size except I'm fitter and more muscular, stronger and healthier than I've ever been. I workout most days, I have a very physical job which keeps me fit and don't sit still. I refuse to conform to societal norms of what people think women of 40 plus look like and it certainly isn't cardigans and twin set and pearls!

That would certainly explain the jacket.

Cheer up please - I am 75 and it looks as if I am not worth even a picture - I must be dead.

Over-75s are no longer able to walk - you must sit quietly in a corner and wait for death. Possibly wearing a different kind of hat.

Scianel · 05/09/2022 21:32

I've been 47ing all wrong! I'd better give up the bodyboarding, hillwalking and weights asap.

Do you think we automatically get the cat issued to us at 65, like a bus pass?

Would that be a bus puss?

<gets coat>

This has made my day.
