I’m turning 44 later this month. Is this what I’ve got to look forward to a year from now. I’m particularly disturbed by the cane.

Nope. I'm 52. I often get second looks when people find out how old I am. I still wear what I did when I was younger. I'm still the same size except I'm fitter and more muscular, stronger and healthier than I've ever been. I workout most days, I have a very physical job which keeps me fit and don't sit still. I refuse to conform to societal norms of what people think women of 40 plus look like and it certainly isn't cardigans and twin set and pearls!

Well said! Yes this! 👏I have a very physical job too and am also very fit. Whilst larger than when younger, I’m also much more toned these days. I feel good and wear clothes that make me happy! I hate stereotypes and particularly when it comes to fitness and well being. That’s something positive that’s come with age. I’m more happy being me and with less excuses.

Don't worry @SommerTen - I use a walking stick regularly and am also the proud owner of a beret (which incidentally I knitted myself)! My hair isn't grey yet though and I like to think that I'm channeling someone from 'Allo 'Allo rather than Frank Spencer!! 😂

Good grief, gave they labelled the ages wrong? 🤔

I say this now actually quite worried about the stick because at 48 my mobility has taken a hammering since 45 with joint pain, aching and slowing down. 😓

My friend was like this. She got HRT and all pain has gone. It can be a symptom of the menopause

I'm 61, at the gym twice a week and have just joined a rugby league past masters ladies team.

I'm glad I'm not in the 65 plus category on the chart, there could be confusion if I had to manage both the cat and a rugby ball.

I imagine it would be dreadfully noisy.

Bleeding Nora! Most of the people I know in their 70s and 80s look less elderly than those pictures. 45-50 looks at least 85. 50-55 looks like one of our French teachers in the late 80s, pretty much how I imagine she would look now. Looks like I'll be needing a beret and some horn rimmed spectacles for my next birthday.
I'd also better fish a walking stick out of the store cupboard as I should have been using it for a few years already.
Think I'll stick to yoga!

Bloody inconvenient in a scrum also.

Do I HAVE to get a cat when I turn 64? I'm more of a dog person

I think it's an ambiguous pet.

I honestly thought it was one of those small, snappy, evil-tempered little dogs that hump your foot and snarl at anyone who tries to stop them.

YesitsBess · 07/09/2022 18:29

I want a Capybara instead. Where do I direct the missive indicating this?

Hah! I would like to see a cat in a scrum.

Although whatever a cat did bring to a scrum would probably not be considered in the true spirit of the game.

She wore a raspberry beret, carried a cat and a walking stick.. Why did Prince hardly ever perform with the final verse?

YesitsBess · 08/09/2022 17:37

Finally snapped it! One more year ladies and I get a PANTHER (which I will trade immediately for a Capybara).
