Past Times - the shop

Anyone else used to love the Past Times shop? I miss it. It was like a museum but you could buy everything as it was just fake old stuff. I loved it as a child.

I didn't even know they had one! I was thinking of what to get a relative for their birthday and was reminiscing as it would have been so easy to find them something in there. An art deco style broach or something.

I used to love this shop too, and only realised recently that they had closed! (Didn't have a shop near to me) When did they actually shut?

Try 'The Musem Selection' online. Basically 'Past Times' online. And they do a catalogue!

I was also going to suggest The Museum Selection. I love their seasonal catalogue in the run up to Christmas, I don't buy anything from it but love looking at the pictures!

I bought the vast majority of my bric a brak when they closed the Cardiff branch. My vases, photo frames, Jewellery box, stationary (including an unnecessary but beautiful quill and leather journal) and much jewellery . It was a beautiful shop. Somewhat steampunk at times. A gap in the market of you ask me

Oh the Pier was amazing - I had a candle from there when I was a student and every so often I wish I could find the exact smell again.

That, Past Times and the Gadget Shop,I miss them all.

I loved past times. Did a Christmas stint there too while I was at university. Really sad it closed down

I loved their Georgian nighties when I was in my teens. So comfy.

Past Times is very special to me. DH was the manager of one of their shops and we met when I took a Christmas temp job there doing my MA. Our first house together was full of vases, rugs, picture frames, mirrors, coasters, mugs, cushions; you name it, we had it! We've still got most of it (the cat broke my favourite mirror trying to catch a month 😭) and I've got absolutely tonnes of the jewellery. I miss that shop so much! They were a great company to work for too - I know DH would go back to them like a shot!
