When you blow a raspberry

Does the blown air go above or below your tongue?

For years I thought it was the same for everyone, but it turns out it's not, and I'm curious as to whether it's me or them that's the odd one, or if it's fairly well mixed.

Above. You mean other people blow UNDER raspberries!

I’d have said above and thought anything else was absurd. However, having conducted an experiment I can now say it’s under.

My other half has just tried to blow a raspberry with her lips?! WTAF?! I had to point out you stick your tongue out to blow a raspberry.

Weirdly DD2 can't blow raspberries but it's hilarious watching her try 🤣

Oh I used to blow raspberries on DC tummies using lips but no tongue when they were little - I'm now trying to do this on the back of my hand as not sure 14yo DS would be enamoured if I suggested he get his tummy out 🙈😂

That's exactly how I was doing it as my only previous experience was blowing raspberries with just lips on the tummies and heads of baby relatives. I was baffled about how people were managing to get the air under their tongue until they started to mention sticking their tongue out. With my tongue out the air goes under.

I can't do it above and now I feel like there's something wrong with me 😆

When I do it the air comes out horizontally from a gap on both sides of my tongue.

Not sure if I'm a total weirdo or if I don't know how to blow raspberries...

I truly cannot work this out - are we talking blowing raspberries like against skin ? Or just from the mouth? I've tried both and I still cannot work out what's happening with my tongue

Both! Depends what kind of raspberry I want to blow. Below is a big fat raspberry and above is a thin raspberry.

Ok I’ve got it. I can do both (different pitches) but under is what comes naturally. 😂
