DD - Yes but not in the top 50
DS - Nope but it surprises me as it's definitely not usual.

One of them is top 10, the other 3 aren’t top 100. They’re older teens though.

DogsAndGin · 19/08/2022 21:41

We’re due DD in December and our fave name isn’t in the top 500

JarvisCockersRightEyebrow · 19/08/2022 21:42

Nope! It’s just made it into the top 500.

Top 10 or possibly even top 5, not sure. DD gets cross her name is quite common but it's increased massively in popularity since we had her!

megletthesecond · 19/08/2022 21:44

DS, yes. But never that high.
DD, never.

LG93 · 19/08/2022 21:45

DD is top 40, DS is top 10, although I've not met any child with the same name as either 🤷

sevenoh · 19/08/2022 21:45

DS name is in the top 100 but spelt differently.

DDs name isn't.

UpsideDownDownsideUp · 19/08/2022 21:46

Nope none of them

runforyourdog · 19/08/2022 21:47

One is probably 80 or 90 something. The other one is popular but has an extremely unusual nn that they go by 99% of the time. So much so never met anybody with the same name.

HappyLondonWoman · 19/08/2022 21:47

DS - full name and shortened form in 2 separate entries, both make top 100

DD - no. But not an unusual name, just never been really popular though everyone always seem to really like it.

Pamparam · 19/08/2022 21:48

Yea but low down. Not weird enough to need spelling (like my own) but uncommon.

Strokethefurrywall · 19/08/2022 21:49

I think only DS1 is only just in top 100 (probably more popular in the US), DS2 doesn't even feature. Probably somewhere in the 500-1000s!

HorribleHerstory · 19/08/2022 21:51

All of my DCs names are outside the top 1000, both now and in the years they were born. First and middles.

Wowitshot · 19/08/2022 21:51

I haven't looked this year but they both will definitely be in the top 50 if not the top ten, they always are. Timeless classics.

yikesanotherbooboo · 19/08/2022 21:53

DD no but a similar name is in top 50
DS1 no but very well known name. Currently out of favour
DS2 top 40

HorribleHerstory · 19/08/2022 21:55

Plenty of timeless classics outside the top 100

lots of timeless classics outside the top 1000 too. I guarantee you’ll all have heard and know how to spell my DCs names !

escapingthecity · 19/08/2022 21:56

One name is popular in one of the U.K. nations but doesn't feature at all in England, other is about 60 a year I think

User639921 · 19/08/2022 21:57

DS was named after his DGF, a couple of years after we named him it suddenly seemed very popular and has barely been out of the top ten since.

Hellocatshome · 19/08/2022 21:57

Both DS names in top 100 but not top 50 and they are very normal well known boys names.

MarthaMayWhovier · 19/08/2022 21:59

DS's name was bang on number 100 the year he was born.

Hoowhoowho · 19/08/2022 22:00

DD1 is at about 3000. Never popular but not made up however a lot of people haven’t heard of it

DS is at about 2000 and rising but more popular for girls though still not top 1000

DD2 has only made the charts at all once in past 25 years but is a name from classic kids’ literature with standard spelling just almost never used

Oatsamazing · 19/08/2022 22:04

Mine has the 4th most popular girl's in the year she was born. It seems to me other people worry about giving their children a common name but I don't really get it. I'd personally rather have what might be seen as a 'normal' name and fit in than have an unusual name. I chose the name because I'd liked it for years.

MissisBee · 19/08/2022 22:04

Daughter is top 20, but one of those steady names that hasn't changed much in popularity.
Son's name is now top 10, but much less common when he was born, I think we were just ahead of the curve in popularity when we named him

purpleme12 · 19/08/2022 22:06

No
When she was born and for a few years after it was about 118.
I don't know how to check for this or last year but I know it's not top 100
Am pleased with that as I didn't want a popular name

MrsMitford3 · 19/08/2022 22:07

how/where do you know?
