If you were going to University this year, what course would you study?

Just reading the A'Levels/University threads on Facebook - out of interest for DC and I've just spotted my ideal degree - Human evolution and behaviour.

This is what I wanted to do nearly 40 years ago when I went but it didn't exist then so I did Psychology.

So, what would be your idea subject to study now? And if you went to Uni, how different is it to the course you actually studied?

I'd choose audiology which is a really interesting field to study.

Great question, I did a geography degree. I'd like to do global studies now. I used to be very much into physical geography (coasts, rivers, volcanoes) it now I'm really interested in political, economic issues affecting countries all found the globe.

It's good that I did geography as now I teach it to a'level but changing syllabuses mean I have to learn new things all the time! I'd love to have time to do an actual second degree rather than a masters just to expand my knowledge.

Music or media production, or a combination of both.

My head would say sustainability engineering, but my heart would say art history.

Botany. It's what I'd liked to have done all those years ago, but I never got the chance.

Luckydog7 · 19/08/2022 19:01

Game art/game design. I did architecture which was ok but should have realised when I felt envy at my bf who was doing computer science. I would rich now rather then having a cv timelime like swiss. Just lost my latest job and seriously considering retraining if we can spare the cash.

My daughter wants to do game art, specifically character design. So much more exciting than geography lol

It's interesting that a lot of us would choose to do more "modern" subjects. My niece is off to do fashion photography at UAL (so proud she got in!!) but was unsure whether graphics might be better. I think it's going to change her life tbh!

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 19/08/2022 19:14

Civil and environmental engineering
I'd happily do my career again, but this would be a less circuitous route.

Blackcountryexile · 19/08/2022 19:15

Speech and Language Therapy or Modern History

TeddyTed · 19/08/2022 19:16

A language degree, maybe Chinese or Japanese, or art history for me (not medicine!)
