My vote is for the Waitrose Salt Beef Pretzel Sub by Heston - bloody delicious (£5.60 though 😳)
Any other recommendations for the days I can't take a packed lunch?

Bring back M&S cheese and celery! I do like their salmon and cream cheese too.

Tesco was also doing a vegetarian New York deli kind of sandwich recently (cheese and gherkins), which was good, but seemed to disappear just as soon as it had arrived. Tesco sandwiches generally uninspiring but their meal deal is easily the cheapest option near me.

I shouldn't have opened this thread. I am so hungry now! Looks like I should rush to M&S or Sainsbury's!!

HellfireBaby · 18/08/2022 16:41

M&S Smoked salmon and cream cheese, the only nice supermarket smoked salmon sandwich.

fufflecake · 18/08/2022 16:42

The m&s best ever prawn one. Not the sainsburys equivalent though its rank.

Joyfuldays · 18/08/2022 16:47

Waitrose used to do a really amazing ciabatta roll. It was near the bakery section rather than in the sandwiches fridge. I used to get the most delicious carved ham & emmenthal one, or one with mozzarella pearls, tomatoes & basil/pesto… mmmmmm

Tronkmanton · 18/08/2022 16:55

Sainsbury’s chicken salad or Co op Coronation chicken.
I always find M&S sandwiches too cold.

PuttingOnMyBestBra · 18/08/2022 17:00

Waitrose cheese & celery is lovey, I know I could make it at home but its really not the same
Sainsburys festive sandwich, turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce, but because I'm a greedy mare I plop a bit of cheese & mayo in too. In for a £ and all that Grin

Underroad · 18/08/2022 17:01

The Aldi deli style pastrami one is really nice, as is the Tesco deli style cheese and pickles one. Most other Tesco sandwiches are very dull.

pretty much any Christmas dinner themed sandwich gets my vote in November and December. I blame Christmas sandwiches for making me fall off the low carb wagon completely last year. I’ve never managed to climb back on since.

Howmanysleepsnow · 18/08/2022 17:03

Asda Brie, bacon and chilli jam!
£2.80

ladycarlotta · 18/08/2022 17:18

M&S peking duck wrap is nice, but my go-to supermarket sandwich situation is getting a prawn mayo sandwich and a packet of crisps on the meal deal and making a prawn mayo crisp sandwich. God tier.

Kfjsjdbd · 18/08/2022 17:23

Yes to the Tesco veggie New Yorker. So so good.

iklboo · 18/08/2022 17:27

M&S ham & mustard mayo

Tesco Tuna Crunch - so very, very cheap but my gods it's delicious! With some salt & vinegar crisps? Mmmmmmm.

Stripsorspots · 18/08/2022 17:38

MandS egg sandwich is very good, much nicer than the testosterone one

Carrieonmywaywardsun · 18/08/2022 17:39

The tesco mozzarella, chicken and pesto wrap is divine. Simple but for a £3 meal deal can't go wrong.

CheeseyToasts · 18/08/2022 17:39

Tesco just ham

There I said it

abovedecknotbelow · 18/08/2022 17:56

M and s used to many years ago do the most amazing chicken tikka sandwich. I still miss it.

M&S Wensleydale & carrot chutney. So simple but so delicious

This. Hands down the best. I don't really eat supermarket sandwiches but once or twice a year I'll treat myself to an m and s lunch and it has to be this sandwich. I've been known to strop out of the store if they've sold out😳

Letsnotargue · 18/08/2022 18:11

M&S chicken, avocado and basil mayonnaise.

Sainsburys (I think) onion bhaji on onion seed bread.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 18/08/2022 18:12

Ooh loads of ideas for my next trip out! Fancying the tesco veggie deli, Aldi pastrami and tesco bhaji wrap 😋

I see Greggs have been mentioned but I hardly ever see sandwiches in my local one so don't tend to pop in when I'm away, I'll have to give it another go!

@ladycarlotta which flavour crisps though? That's the decider to see if your choice is an acceptable lunch.

Waitrose salt beef sub is amazing but I prefer their coronation chicken.

thefirstmrsrochester · 18/08/2022 18:17

M&S Brie, grape & cranberry.

M&S chicken tikka sandwiches circa 1990 were the bomb.

Rockbird · 18/08/2022 18:18

Tesco chicken, mozzarella and pesto wrap. Or the Tesco chicken tikka wrap. Yum.

MrsMigginsCat · 18/08/2022 18:24

M&S prawn and egg roll from the mid 80s was the best.
