My vote is for the Waitrose Salt Beef Pretzel Sub by Heston - bloody delicious (£5.60 though 😳)
Any other recommendations for the days I can't take a packed lunch?

M&S pastrami on rye bread is just amazing. It has sourkraut in it too. Best sarnie ever.

MrsTerryPratchett · 18/08/2022 15:32

Do M&S still do the cheese and celery one? That was great.

HeyMicky · 18/08/2022 15:34

M&S Wensleydale & carrot chutney. So simple but so delicious

Wallabyone · 18/08/2022 15:35

M&S sandwiches are usually good. I used to eat the roast beef sub when I was young and could eat whatever I wanted!

Crikeyalmighty · 18/08/2022 15:36

I love an M&S prawn mayo

EnglishGirlApproximately · 18/08/2022 15:38

Pastrami & Rye with Sauerkraut sounds great. The waitrose one has gherkins so a similar thing I guess. Agree with M&S Wensleydale and carrot chutney too.
Any cheap ones or is that too much to ask? Grin
Thanks for humouring me while I eat my sarnie in a car park!

I do like prawn mayo but if I'm forling out a fiver for a sandwich I like it to be something I wouldn't have at home!

Asda used to do a lovely chicken one with rocket and pesto but it only seemed to be around for a few months. I still keep an eye open in the hope of it coming back!

Yes yes. Mmm 😋

Rosiesmydog · 18/08/2022 16:08

Don’t know where it was, but I had a hummus and onion Bhaji sandwich once and it was bloody awesome

BiggerBoat1 · 18/08/2022 16:08

Waitrose chicken caesar wrap is lovely.

Does a wrap count as a sandwich?

Blackcountryexile · 18/08/2022 16:10

Aldi Specially Selected New York Deli Pastrami and Emmenthal. £2.49. Although I'm also partial to the M&S Carrot and Chutney.

Muststopeating · 18/08/2022 16:11

Season specific... and I think their usual sandwiches are rank. But Asda do a delicious Festive Turkey Toastie in the cafe in December.

Waitrose don't venture north of the central belt of Scotland... sigh as Salt Beef Pretzel sub sounds delicious.

Fortuny · 18/08/2022 16:13

Waitrose Cheese & Celery, M&S ditched their version

JohnsShirt · 18/08/2022 16:13

M&S Ploughman's.

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 18/08/2022 16:16

M&S did a Christmassy one about 7 years ago; ham hock and a gorgeous piccalilli on amazing thick bread. I used to crave it and was gutted when they stopped making it. I still miss it!

Sorry @EnglishGirlApproximately sod all use Grin

goldenbag · 18/08/2022 16:17

M&S best ever prawn sandwich. Like a prawn cocktail in a sandwich.

This. 100% This.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 18/08/2022 16:19

See the Christmas ones sound great but I am partial to a Greggs festive bake at that time of year! I'll definitely check out the Aldi as that's the kind of thing I like but half the price of Waitrose. I think I need to a start a campaign for aldi and lidl at motorway services 🤔

@Muststopeating my nearest waitrose is miles away my town is too rough for one haha! I have to take advantage when I'm out and about- good job really as I'd be too tempted otherwise

Me too.

They also did a crayfish one which was delicious.

Tesco used to do a prawn but they never have them anymore.
Tesco's sandwiches are exceedingly dull here in my local ones in Ireland, is it the same in the UK ?

Rainbowshit · 18/08/2022 16:22

Sainsburys ham hock and mature cheddar.

Gutted when it disappeared.

Butteryflakycrust83 · 18/08/2022 16:30

Tesco onion bhaji wrap (technically not a sandwich?) but their meal deal cannot be beat!

Georgeskitchen · 18/08/2022 16:35

Greggs. Sandwiches made freshly daily on the premises unlike most supermarket ones, mass produced in some factory somewhere

ColmanFlamingo · 18/08/2022 16:38

Sainsburys used to do a lovely lemon chicken one. DH used to bring them for me when I was in hospital after having DD. Lovely lovely especially compared to the hospital food. It was one of their posher ones I think.
