I have loved these threads in the past and also have just had a huge wave of nostalgia while making my DC’s dinner, macaroni cheese thinking back to my own childhood and my mother doing the same for me...

Its Saturday night, I’m 9 years old (almost 10) and I’ve been out on my bike all day with my friends, back in for tea and my mum is making macaroni cheese for with tomato ketchup and crushed ready salted crisps on the top (a tradition I both hold dearly and curse my mother for starting with my own DC)

My Dad is back in the door from the football, working not watching (police) and is showered, bare food with a beer, Paul Simon is the vinyl of choice (though I’d rather be watching TOTP’s)

There is fish or steak on the side, and prep for my parents nice Saturday night dinner, mum is counting sweeties (Saturday sweetie night) into 3 bowls for me and my sisters and we will be banished though to the sitting room with the tv while they eat and enjoy a bottle of wine.

The generation game is on the tv and in my Pj’s under a blanket with a bowl mixed with skittles and rolo’s and I keep here my parents merry and chattering in the next room and all is right in world.

What are you up to?

Giving birth! My ds is 33 soon where has that time gone?

Tbf he was born on a Wednesday. So either fat and sweaty or knackered.

Fucket · 06/08/2022 17:48

I’m watching the Care Bear movie with my little sister before heading to bed at 7pm.

I’m 20 and I’m out clubbing with Neil, my insanely handsome boyfriend, and our gang. We’ll have been out at a cocktail bar beforehand and I’m now drinking vodka and orange and strutting my stuff to Ride on Time.

Creepymanonagoatfarm · 06/08/2022 17:51

Had a dd in the June so prob still fat and shattered!!

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 06/08/2022 17:53

I would have been 14 with no social life. Probably popped in to town on the bus with a friend, then back to watch some Saturday early evening TV like Noel's house party or blind date/Gladiators while eating our special Saturday night dinner on laps of steak, chips and corn on the cob. DM still loves this combo. Sounds fancy but was very plain really.
Then occasionally I would go with my friend to the pub where her DDad was a DJ so we would drink lemonade watching the adults get down and admiring the 18yr old I had a crush on with my bad perm and off the shoulder top on.
Things were not exciting back then, nice but dull. Got better in the early 90's though.

Northernsouloldies · 06/08/2022 17:53

Going to a Northern soul niter somewhere in the UK.

MaChienEstUnDick · 06/08/2022 17:53

Oh I'm in London, skint - so very skint - but having the time of my life. I'm probably sitting in with a bottle of Lambrusco after spending my spare pennies at Portobello Rd on falafel (SO exotic!) and a vintage suede jacket, driving my flat mates mad by saying 'god it's so hot, is London always so hot?' It felt like a long way from the Scottish sticks!

PuppyMonkey · 06/08/2022 17:57

I've just finished my degree, moved in with two friends in a flat in Nottingham and started my first job as a trainee reporter on the local paper. Going to The Irish tonight, bloody brilliant.

BellaLab · 06/08/2022 17:58

I’m 21 and at Uni in Glasgow getting ready to go and see my boyfriend play in his band. I last likely ended up very drunk on Pernod and blackcurrant 🤮

SuperSange · 06/08/2022 18:00

I'm aged 18, so I'll have been shopping in Newcastle to buy something to wear to go out clubbing tonight. Lunch will be in the Eldon square food court, Chinese chicken curry and fried rice. Happy, happy times.

SuperSange · 06/08/2022 18:01

I was 17, not 18! In the 6th form at school.

Redpriestandmozart · 06/08/2022 18:04

I got married on 1st Aug 1989 so this night in 1989 we were on honeymoon in the Lake District, totally loved up. The weather was gorgeous and I fell in love with smoked Wensleydale cheese which I had never tried until then, also Cumberland sausage.

MrsJackRackham · 06/08/2022 18:04

I'm 17 so putting on a ridiculous amount of make up on, putting my fake id in my bag and heading to the park to drink cider then head to the pub. It was the coolest place in town and l loved going but couldn't afford to buy more than two pints of cider and black so had to get tanked up before we went 🙂

Onlyhereforchaletschool · 06/08/2022 18:04

Worrying about my A level results in 2 weeks time, missing my best friend who’d moved the other end of the country. My little brothers probably just come in and asked me to take him to the video shop - he used to do that a lot!

Maggiesgirl · 06/08/2022 18:04

Getting married! A very quiet wedding with only 10 people then to the pub with all our friends. It was a brilliant day. Pity he cheated 3 years later and we divorced.

KathieFerrars · 06/08/2022 18:05

I am 24 and am loving living with my husband. We got married in June. We are likely going to a concert or walking to the local American type diner for a burger.

PuttingDownRoots · 06/08/2022 18:06

I was 3yo. I was probably getting ready for bed! I had a lovely pink barbie bedroom.

Watermelonsugarhighlove · 06/08/2022 18:06

I was in my first serious relationship aged 15 Grinhad fantastic friends music was great and was drinking cheap bottles of cider

2pinkginsplease · 06/08/2022 18:06

I turned 13 in August 1989. I was probably watching Saturday night TV with gladiators, noel house party and having sleepovers at my friends house .

Eiapopeia · 06/08/2022 18:06

I am 17 (not 18 until 31st August) and have spent the day dog walking, pony grooming and charity shopping with my mum (Dad and sisters have been to Peter Jones TV department to buy a new video recorder). I will spend the evening doing something at home with my family - no interest in going out/drinking/clubbing. Will probably skulk in the kitchen with Mum while the rest of the family watch Allo Allo. Dreading A level results in case I have not got an A in something, and equally dreading getting all As and going to university and having to leave home.

RhubarbFairy · 06/08/2022 18:08

I'm 6, but I'm excited for my 7th birthday at the end of the month.

Playing out with friends on the green outside our front door and then inside to watch whatever Saturday night gameshow was on back then.

KatherineJaneway · 06/08/2022 18:09

I would have been home most likely, watching TV with my parents.

MsTSwift · 06/08/2022 18:09

15 so on holiday with my lovely family and friends of my parents in a Villa with a pool in Tuscany. Wish I was back there!

Socialmediaoverload · 06/08/2022 18:11

I love this! I’m 8, dancing to Kylie on my cassette player, after spending a day out on my bike with all my friends on my street.
