Stupid, inspiring, funny .... what ever it was, what is your most memorable comment on MN.

Mine was a poster who said her grandma once told her the secret to a successful marriage is "don't both fall out of love at the same time"

☝️ has stuck with me

There was a thread fairly recently by a poster whose DC's bedroom window overlooked the window of a man who could often be seen enjoying his own company a little too much, shall we say. One poster said that she would have put up occlusive film across her DC's window, adding that the frisky neighbour was probably wondering why she hadn't done so already. I thought that was memorable because of the expectation that the OP should limit her light and view, rather than the neighbour be made aware that everyone could see him pleasuring himself.

There’s one today that I think may be my all time favourite, by a poster on her theory as to why she has no schoolgate mum friends:

I had the unfortunate circumstances of being a tall attractive woman with a ‘posh’ accent in a deprived area, (no my name is not Samantha), a very handsome husband (yes, one small example was a school mum saying loudly she wouldn’t mind a bit of him as she walked past us), twins (which some of them were obviously jealous of), my DC all being gorgeous, immaculately turned out and doing well at school if I say so myself.

😂😂😂😂

Someone posted in the doghouse section that her dog had separation anxiety and how can she train the dog.
First commenter comes along, you should give up your job so you can stay home with him 100% of the time.

I'm all for spending time with pets and not leaving dogs for long periods. But imagine just giving up your job and never being able to leave you house at any time or for any reason rather than working on the separation anxiety.

I will never forget a post where a bad tempered stranger had given the OP a mouthful and a poster seriously suggested that the poster should have given her a crème egg to make her feel better. Just so random and odd to suggest giving a specific chocolate to pacify a rude stranger.

An OP who moved house and her toddler said he couldn't sleep in his new room because, he 'missed the old grey haired man who used to smile at him every night through his bedroom window!!' 😱😱

A couple of months later they were visiting their old home town, when the toddler shouted excitedly "THERE HE IS! THE KIND OLD MAN!"

It turned out to be Colonel Sanders on an illuminated KFC sign in the distance. He could see him from his old bedroom window 😂

Nope, deadly serious! There’s no other reason the other mums won’t talk to her, I mean being such a humble grounded woman I can’t understand why they aren’t queueing to be her friend 😂😂

I AM A CANADIAN!

I am Angela Hernandez.

winestained · 21/07/2022 23:08

On a thread about some women not knowing the difference between the vagina and vulva, with the latter needing a proper wash, a poster (who posts regularly) said that the soap that drips down from her stomach in the shower is sufficient to keep her clean.

HeddaGarbled · 21/07/2022 23:13

When we were all arguing about what it was OK to go shopping for during lockdown, someone said “milk and bread are not essential” and it made me a bit scared about what was happening to us all. I came off the COVID threads after that.

ScreamingFrog · 21/07/2022 23:14

Everyone here commenting as if ‘I made an owl sound’ didn’t happen.

@LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet baffling, isn’t it?! She sounds a peach!

I'm an oldie with a name change after being missing for a good few years.
I will always hold onto the advice "no, is a full sentence".
When someone asks you to do something you don't want to do, just say no. You do not have to justify yourself.

I was just thinking about that but I couldn't remember what was said to exactly and was hoping someone else would post it Grin

I remember that, it was to shut a colleague up wasn't it 😂

SpottyStripyDuvet · 21/07/2022 23:20

Not very deep and meaningful but it makes me giggle whenever I think about it. There was a thread about buying an item of clothing then realising that you look shit in it and someone commented that a jacket made them look like "Suzi Quattro's fat nan". There were other brilliant quotes on that thread - I think it mau be in classics.

coolernow · 21/07/2022 23:21

a poster said it was wrong for young people to take supermarket jobs during covid or similar as older people need them more.
