Most middle class family holiday destination? (just for fun!)

I haven't spotted a middle class thread all week so thought I'd start one just for fun 😜
In your opinion what are the most middle class or umc holiday spots?
Summer:
Any part of France (extra posh if you have friends or family who have a house to put you & the kids up in!)
Italian Lakes
Greek Islands

Winter
Barbados or similar Caribbean Island
Skiing in the Austrian, Swiss or French Akps (wealthiest go to Switzerland)
Christmas markets

This is just for fun & based on the wealthier middle class families I know! They all seem to go to the same places!

Honestly. It’s not.

North Pembs is the area of choice for the Crachach.

F*cking West Wittering. They come down in their droves, clogging up the single road down to Witterings. There are tons of lovely beaches but no, it must be WW 🙄

Tell me where please (in the vicinity) because I would gladly go somewhere else as easily accessible from here, as long as it's sandy and has loos. Don't think WW is a class thing...

Cherryblossoms85 · 21/07/2022 23:03

Corsica

Blinky21 · 21/07/2022 23:05

Mauritius and Cornwall

Southwold/Walberswick

I’m actually from the area originally and until I went back for a holiday recently had forgotten how MC it is. I felt tempted to go to Lowestoft for the day just to get some light relief 😀

Also shocked about Abersoch, I'd have said Treaddur, but maybe that's a bit old-fashioned.

No, you are quite right! Abersoch is a lovely place but seems to be full of drug dealers, cant imagine many MC people would feel comfortable there.

Gwenhwyfar · 21/07/2022 23:20

A beach hut in Abersoch cost similar to the average house in Gwynedd

Tsandjdarethrbest · 21/07/2022 23:25

It must be exhausting to be middle-class and have to do everything according to the rules. Just go where you fancy.

Dishwaterblonde · 21/07/2022 23:26

Tuscany/Provence/Aldeburgh in Suffolk

definitely NOT Dubai.

User367259791 · 21/07/2022 23:26

The thing about these threads that always amuses me is the use of middle class and posh as synonyms.

GlomOfNit · 21/07/2022 23:30

Lol at Dubai! Grin Nope.

In the UK, I think: much of Suffolk - Aldeburgh, Southwold etc are MC wet dreams and the beaches aren't TOO traditionally appealing (eg not acres of unpebbly golden sand) so that keeps the plebs down a bit, plus so many naice things to do - the music associations, the RSPB reserves, the quaint and educational old churches etc. Wink (disclaimer, have recently had a week away in that area and did all those things). Somewhere 'undiscovered' so that has to be inland - inland Somerset? I reckon rural Leicestershire is an undiscovered gem. West Wales away from the obvious tourist hotspots (very beautiful small unspoiled beaches without amenities, like Mwnt). North coast of Devon probably more appealing than south, because marginally less busy. Cornwall - well every bugger wants to go there and I've had it with the epic drive to get there and the diabolical driving once you're there, but the obvious MC nexuses are around the river creeks where there's a lot of yachty stuff going on.

Um, most of rural Scotland seems riddled with UMC. Grin

Abroad - mainland Greece rather than islands. Secret areas of Portugal away from coasts (nope, not telling). Sardinia. Croatia. Probably the braggiest MC holiday in some circles is to take the children on a tour of some of the less scary 'Stans, do Tashkent etc. Grin Somewhere very few people go.

Some of the poshest people I know NEVER go abroad in summer (too crowded!) but instead holiday in their second home in the SW, but then splurge and go on epic road-trip hols in N America, and skiing multiple times in winter/spring.

TheDuchessOfMN · 21/07/2022 23:32

I’ve noticed that WC go to euro Disney Paris.
MC go to theme parks in the Netherlands

Italian lakes
Austria to Ski
Croatia

No - but the same can be said for parts of Cornwall etc.

OldWivesTale · 21/07/2022 23:37

Auntpodder · 21/07/2022 23:47

Ile de Re (off La Rochelle ('I mean, one just doesn't hear any English at all.'), East Neuk of Fife, especially Elie (cricket on the beach in Scotland FFS), winter, sucking up for the friend who has a yacht in the BVIs, Marrakech (but not summer), NE Corfu (aka Mykonos for mums).

Ridiculousradish · 21/07/2022 23:50

Definitely Cornwall. I live in Falmouth and there are MC wankers everywhere. St Mawes, camping on the Roseland, ruining Helford village. We've just had graduation here, loads of posh families down to celebrate. Parents buy their little darlings houses whilst studying, for them and chums. Nowhere for local families to live. I fucking hate it. I don't care if people get their knickers in a twist about locals being annoyed and feeling unwelcome. Arseholes buying second homes have decimated communities. Gentrification galore. Fuck off somewhere else.

RedToothBrush · 21/07/2022 23:52

100% Abersoch.

Butterforbread · 21/07/2022 23:55

Mennex · 21/07/2022 18:21

UMC - St Kitts
MC - Barbados
NM - Jamaica
MC - Puerta Pollensa
MC - French Alps Skiing
UMC - Swiss Alps Skiing
MC & UMC - Cornwall & Pembrokshire
MC - Devon
MC & UMC - Italian Lakes

I am firmly MC and this year I have been to Barcelona city break, French Alps skiing, Hawaii with DH and Cyprus summer hols with the kids (will have to NC now!)

This is a brilliant analysis 😁
