It’s frightening. I dread to think how things will be come Christmas. Those already on the breadline are going to find themselves in total poverty and right now no one has any answers.

The amount of abuse Martin gets when he tries to help people is disgusting.
He gets smeared a drama queen when he is trying to force the govt to take action to stop this crisis getting worse.

People are going to die as a result of this. People are already dying. Do you know how many people have died as a result of Tory austerity? How many disabled people have died as a result of how abusive and dishonest the disability benefits system are?

Of course it won't affect all the 'naice' middle class mums, so it's much easier to throw insults around.

Well that’s quite a dark picture he has painted for the winter and beyond. Unfortunately he is usually correct in his predictions. As a low single income family with a mortgage it is concerning. All I can do is hope this time he is wrong or that the government steps in to help. On that fronts I have my fingers crossed that Rishi gets the om job.

I work with older people on tight budgets. A lot are worrying lot about this. we have seen a big increase in people calling for benefit checks and enquiring as to whether they are eligible for disability benefits.

And I should also add there are huge backlogs in many benefits being awarded at the moment. Even pension credit claims are taking up to 5 months to be awarded so many older people won't even see this increase in their income ( if eligible) until winter is approaching. PIP claims taking 5-6 months, childrens DLA claims also taking ages. Of course people get the money backdated, but it's a long wait when they need the extra money now.

He's just trying to force the government into taking action.

He is likely to be right. And he’s the least drama queen person I can think of. He’s a sensible and astute person and isn’t scaremongering.

He's not said anything that I didn't already know because I've been paying attention not burying my head in the sand. I've been saying for ages people have no idea what is to come in October and lots will be put into poverty.

He's not a drama Queen but people prefer to shoot the messenger, or know they will be unaffected with their middle class two income households.

The rest of us are fucked.

He's very clever and def trying to support people but he's a complete show man, and has made himself extremely wealthy by being so.

This does make me think very seriously about my spending though. We were thinking about moving but this definitely makes me think better of it!
